Hey all, I have done some searches on this topic but many are rather old. I am pretty sure what I have here is a stock seat on an '08 RSV. Its showing wear on the seams and I know I'm gonna get a wet Butte eventually. Are there good aftermarkets out there that are good for just the driver seat. Should I just take it to an upholsterer? Its still really comfortable, especially with the adjustable backrest. (Dont get me started on the stock V-Star seat on my 07 1100, those SUCK)

New guy here, but I JUST finished a full rebuild on my 08 Venture due to a leaking seat. To confirm, I pulled the carb set and bench tested it with a test tank in the garage rafters for a couple PSI fuel pressure. Sure enough, one of the 4 started dripping out of the overflow tubes. I wont tell you its fun rebuilding these, far from it. Each carb is relatively simple to clean especially if you have a ultrasonic cleaner OR buy a few cans of carb cleaner! Putting them back together as an assembly, that's the chore! Its nice to have an extra set of hands or some zip ties for temp holding as you need to engage like 4 contact points while getting the butterfly valve actuators under an itty bitty spring. Critical to have a carb sync gauge set too.

Hey guys! It’s been a little bit since I posted, but I just wanted to give an update. My first son was born May, 11th on Mother’s Day. My lady’s water broke in March at 27 weeks and she was stuck in the hospital for 7 weeks until Little Man was 34 weeks. At 34 weeks they performed a c-section and William Alonzo Umberger-Valencia was born at 5lbs 6.4oz and 18 inches long. He has been doing really well and hasn’t needed any oxygen or any extended care. He spent about three weeks in the NICU and we finally got to bring him home Saturday. He’s a sweet little boy, and we are so grateful that he’s going as good as he is and he is as cute as he is!

I have had bikes with full fairings since 1980, so I really can't speak to its performance on a bare bike. I can say that I usually wear it in the open position and the only negative to doing that is the air vents on the top of the helmet are then blocked by the open visor. This is my 2nd LS Advant. The first one was damaged when I met the ditch to avoid a head on with a car in my lane. The chin bar gears were damaged because it was open and I landed on my shoulder and the back of my head.

Not from the factory. Previous owner may have added a vacuum petcock.

I am not turn8ng off the peacock. It was my understanding that it is vacuum actuated. Perhaps not or that feature is no longer working?

Are you shutting the fuel off at the petcock when you park it? These bikes are known to leak past the needle and seat when parked due to dirt or worn needle/seat. Check your oil level because the fuel will drain into the cylinders and seep past the rings. This will dilute the oil and raise the oil level. Keep the oil level below the midpoint of the sight glass. The other frequent result of carb leakage is hydraulic lock of the engine which results in bent rods and or broken engine case. if it hasn’t been done, the carbs should be removed and rebuilt. Personal experience: I went to start one of mine when leaving the office and had forgotten to turn off the petcock. The starter simply clicked loudly. I removed the spark plugs, cranked it over, and fuel sprayed out of the spark plug holes. I was fortunate in that there was a piston near the top of its stroke with fuel locking it from continuing its stroke. A gap without the fuel would have allowed it slam into the fuel and ruin the engine. So carb overhaul and oil change was mandatory. Now, the fuel is turned off when I shut the engine off every time without exception

I picked up a gorgeous 07 Midnight Venture a few weeks ago. I'm noticing a pretty significant gas smell when it's parked or I'm at a stop. When I first got it, it was dripping a little bit of fuel underneath. That stopped. I think the dealer had overfilled it. I've run 1/3 of a can of Seafoam through it thinking maybe a stuck float. It definitely still has a strong smell. Maybe residue from the overfill...but I don't think so. I think something is wrong. I had a carbureted bike a million years ago (81 Honda CB750) it also smelled of gas much of the time. Is this just a feature of carbureted bikes or is something wrong that I might fix? I have always used Scorpion EXO 900 / EXO 930 convertible modulars so I could ride with the same Open 3/4 face helmet as an option. I did get to use my buddies "Revolver" helmet, I think it was Shark brand that use to make them, and the wind would still catch that chin bar and force your head around awkwardly. I wasn't aware that LS2 made a similar style so obviously haven't tried it. Have you ridden on an standard non-fairing MC and how did it perform in the wind? As for the intercom, I'm a fan of the Sena 20 line with the optional mounting bracket that still has an input for our Yamaha / Honda style intercom on the Ventures. I can use the helmet on my other bikes with Bluetooth, or plug into the Venture and still use the factory Radio / Intercom / CB. Amazon - Sena Universal Honda CB

Hey Paul, Check out this post: I believe you do have to remove that coolant hose, and the plastic tray between the frame and valve cover that the wires and hoses hide in. Drain about a quart of coolant from the radiator before removing the hose. With that hose and tray out of the way, there's just enough clearance to lift and slide that valve cover out the left side. Also check out this post - lots of pics doing a valve adjust and general clean up under the tank.

Steve, I have a friend who recently moved from his 2nd Gen Venture to a Can Am for similar reasons to what you mention. I went riding with him a couple of weeks ago. Not knocking the Venture nor GW trikes, but from what he said and I observed, Can Am looks like it would be a good choice.

Working on my 2008 Venture and have the rear valve cover all unbolted and free from the engine, I would like to have some explain how you can lift it high enough to slide out over the cam sprockets. II have tried all different movements with no luck at this point, it almost seems like I would need to remove the coolant hose as is somewhat between the frame and the cover to gain that space needed. It does not make sense that you would have to do that to change cover gasket. Someone with experience with this please help.

Hello Venture friends. I only got one short ride in last year, on November 19th, and broke my ankle that same day. It has rained so much this spring that I didn't try to ride until this week. I got 180 miles in on 2 different days and they were great rides, BUT I realized yesterday that I am going to have to go to a trike instead of the Venture. Between the back surgery and arthritis in my hips, it is a real struggle to manage the heavy weight of the Venture. I do ok when I get moving but getting on and off and moving around in tight places is very hard. I will be asking for advice or suggestions on different rides to check out. I want to stay with a touring ride, so a Goldwing trike looks good, but I am going to look at a Cam Am Spyder as well. Good luck to all. Steve.
