  1. Today
  2. We are thinking of maybe taking a TT to Florida and living in it for a month at a time after my wife retires. Hotels cost a fortune for an extended stay. And as stated it is your own place which we would like. It's hard to get but a camping site in Bahai Honda State Park would be ideal. My next to last contract job (3 1/2 years) I lived in Homestead FL, close to the Keys and we loved it down there. We fished a lot, soaked in the warm clear water a lot, went to Key West a lot, just thoroughly enjoying the area. We also saw many tourist attractions around Miami and southern Florida. It was my favorite contract job location. Now, we spend a week in the FL Keys almost every year.
  3. A HD mechanic buddy helped me with the actual implementation.... but we basically made the starter system always hot after the key so the bike will crank with the kill switch on or off. The kill switch effectively toggles the SCCR on and off. He did most of the system diagnostic and I can't give you much information on exactly how. I'll see if he still has the scratch-pad laying around his shop.
  4. Quote: "I ended up bypassing the the safety system and the bike is working fine." How did you bypass the SCCR? Having starting issues on mine and I wonder if that relay might be part or all of the problem...
  5. Update 11/18/25: Pulled and had battery tested; fully charged and tested fine. Cleaned all connections I could find, Dielectric greased them. Tested starter relay; no continuity with power applied. Changed relay. Still the same issue. Pulled and checked SCCR; tested ok. Can't reach starter terminal to apply power directly. Pulled ignition switch; ordered new one as I'm pretty sure contacts are toast. Also ordered new SCCR just in case. djh3_88 has built an ignition bypass relay for me; waiting for shipment. Pulling bar switch housing today to check and clean contacts. Only other thing I can think of would be a worn and partially broken wire somewhere; I think if a wire were chafed and grounded I would be blowing a fuse somewhere; fuses are all good. Haven't heard of any self-resetting circuit breakers on this bike... Maybe intermittent ground issue? Other than battery ground terminal I have no idea where any other ground wires/straps might be located. Very frustrated at this point; hoping new parts wil help.
  6. I don't know that I'd want to live in one, but the nice thing about a RV is that you're taking a bit of "Home" with you. Everything doesn't seem quite as foreign when you have a small, familiar place to retreat to. I find that I'm typically a bit more comfortable in my small motorhome than in a hotel room.
  7. Yesterday
  8. @bpate4home Very nice! Glad you had fun with fellow riders in your area.
  9. Got in a good ride over the weekend. Met with a group of 2 Indian riders and 3 Harley riders. Round Trip 250 miles and 7.5 hours with a long stop for lunch. Bunch of back roads and little traffic. Not as aggressive as before the stroke but the confidence is coming back.
  10. They say the same thing about RVs. I've no complaints. I rarely use it, but it's nice to have when I do use it.
  11. Last week
  12. No ride today. Maybe tomorrow. Good evening to all!
  13. I need a 2nd happy day for the pontoon. I use the fishing boat a lot, we live 10 minutes away from KY Lake which is one of the largest man made lakes. 160,000 surface acres 100% free to use. I spend more time cleaning the pontoon than we’ve ever used it.
  14. I'm 81 with heart issues. And mostly, I just didn't use the boat any more. I'm sure I will miss it. It's such a great feeling to be out on the water in my own boat!
  15. The family's pontoon boat is 25yrs old and just keeps plugging along... Mom is 77 and decided this year she wanted a new boat. We picked up a '21 Trifecta with 20hrs on it last weekend in an early season snowstorm in Indiana. Hopefully this one serves us as well as the last one. The sellers oldest brother bought it as a "last hurrah" when he was diagnosed with cancer 2yrs ago. The other brothers were happy to see it go to a family that would take care of it and treasure it. They are local to our cottage and we told them they have an open initiation to come take a ride anytime.
  16. Those Boston Whalers are nice boats. I’m sure you will miss it. I understand though. I sold my last boat a couple of years ago. Same reason you did. I still have two Yamaha Waverunners and never took them out this year and only once last year. I really should sell them too.
  17. Yes, Wednesday I sold my 1998 18' Boston Whaler Ventura. I bought it in 2007. My wife and I enjoyed it very much but we are older and just didn't use it much any more. I sold it to a young couple who plan to have a lot of fun with it. Hopefully, it will serve them well.

  19. I am a true believer of 'Indian Summer' and it always happen. Ride safe and enjoy the ride.
  20. might get to ride this weekend round here, supposed to be inn the upper 60's friday n 70's on sat. may be the last her in northern ill.
  21. Good morning! Cloudy conditions over here in SE Pa. Yesterday, it was so windy that riding was not even on my mind. Today is much better. Have a great day and ride safe.
  22. It was 37 in Houston this morning. I don't go into the office anymore but it's very near my lower limit. Wouldn't be fun going in but in would be coming home at 70 degrees.
  23. I might throw a blanket over it to give it a warm feeling, fill the gas tank so it don't die from starvation and then park it in a corner so it harder to run away. That's it.
  24. Every time I've seen this, it has been a loose connection at the battery ground or positive terminal.
  25. Just connected the battery tender yesterday and had to wipe back a little tear...
  26. Sounds like a poor connection. Check battery with volt meter, 12.3 is not a good full battery but should start it at least. Try to start it and if everything dies then don't touch anything but check the voltage at the battery, first the posts then the connectors and then the solenoid. Seeing as everything dies I would strongly suspect a poor connection in that area. Note: Do not turn anything off when it all dies, check things when 'under load'.
  27. Check the starter solenoid and main ground for clean and solid connection. If they are good, pull battery and take to auto parts store for load test. Beyond that, possibly a bad connection in key switch or starter button
