My friend and fellow member, Noddy, is really cranky now. He just got his bike out (91vr) and was giving it an inspection. His brandy new Avon front tire is checked again! Cracked all the way around by the rim. Same thing happened to him last year with a brand new Avon. I am wondering if this brand is suitable on the VR front. It's almost like the cold storage has this negative effect. The rear is fine, but it is a larger tire. Mine is fine (rsv) again, a larger tire. So far the avon is a great tire, but you may remember I had this same problem with an Avon on my first gen a couple years back. Anyone think the extreme cold could affect the tire while in storage. His is an unheated shop with wood flooring. -
Long story short. Had to ride home Sunday from just outside Winston Salem, NC to Atlanta in the snowstorm. Made it as far as Duncan, SC before the ice got too bad we decided to quit. Waited out the snow and the next morning we were warming up the bikes and we had started them and I turned on my grip heaters to get good and warm. As I came out of the room, I got bunches of smoke coming from under the tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!Smelled just like burnt wires. First instinct was to turn off grip heaters and then bike. Restarted the bike and it looks as if the grip heaters shorted, as I had no further problems. Now, the real question is, I'd like to replace the grips. I've really never been happy with the ones on there (I assume they're stock, bought bike used) but they had installed grip heaters. Now I'd like to find a pair of grips that are larger in diameter and maybe with built in heaters? Do they make such an animal for the RSV? I'm not into flash, so chrome ain't the big deal, but a larger pair of grips hopefully with some heat would really fit the bill. Anyoone here have any suggestions? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 84 Venture Std. has this rear tire: 140/90-16 Michelin Hi-Tour A66, that came with the bike when I bought it last summer. It is a 71H. The wife and I are at maximum load without any "Stuff" in the bags. This tire is actually 148mm wide inflated. There is still more than 5 mm or .2" between the tire and the drive shaft housing. Any one tried a 150/90-16 rear? 1. It would have a higher load rating. 2. It theorically would be .4" wider (but mine is already 8mm or .3" wider), the speedometer would be 1.5 slower (more accurate) due to larger diameter .7" and circumference 2.2". (Plenty of room) On the front I could not use a larger tire. The fender is very close to the tire. But 65H is not overloaded.

Has anyone heard if Yamaha will be upgrading the RS Venture anytime with a detuned larger high performance 2009 VMAX engine?

I got the mirrors done, I only had one base with boot so I painted the other black. I used a 10MM tap on the bases, I would like to have used larger mirrors may change them this was a test. Mirrors $17.00 from JC Whitney any suggestions welcome. Dale

I am preparing to repaint my 83, and understand that the 86 and later had a larger trunk than the 83-85. A larger trunk would be nice, but not having seen one to compare, is there a significant difference? Does it mount on the same rack? Not that I have seen one for sale recently that was worth buying, but since I am getting ready to paint, now would be the time to make the switch. Any advice would be appreciated. -
I have seen tank bib's in pic's with two pockets, I would like to get one of these. Also am looking for the windshield bag's I've seen them where the two outters are larger than the center bag. please PM me with any info on these items. Thanks
