  1. The two rubber hoses going from the carb to intakes are cracked, only on the right side. Seems to be causing a miss. Checked the plugs too = at 20,000 miles= they looked new. Whats the trick to removing the two inside bolt monts. These outflow hoses are rubber mounted on a metal base with two connecting bolts, all one piece. I removed the fins for bolt access and cannot get to the inside bolt. Learned the hard way not to remove the cooling hose in the center to get access. there is no room for the allen wrench and no room to turn it.
  2. Is there a mobile phone accessible version? I have a BlackBerry and would certainly use it. TIA
  3. Just received this................. You can read about it on www.snopes.com Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report' If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.' Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'. PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY! THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp
  4. With all the flooding going on in Iowa the past couple of days, thought I would check on Blusees. Called her yesterday evening. All is well with her. They have closed the University due to the flooding, but she has no flooding at her home. She was going to get on line and do a post to let all know she was okay. Then got a VM from her saying she could not get Internet access. She has access through the U. But as they are having flooding at the U, the internet is down. So, she asked that I do a posting to let anyone who is interested (and even those who are not) that she is okay. She is still waffling on the Pork in the Pines. SO, maybe some of you folks who would like to help her make up her mind, can prod her a bit on coming up for the Pork in the Pines. Besides, she is the only one with a tuned guitar.....
  5. So after putting the 89 VR on the center stand and looking under, I noticed some play in the pivot area. I refer to the following parts diagram from South Seattle sports plaza online at http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/Yamaha.aspx (sorry guys, the link didn't work completely. You have to put in motorcycle, 1989, xvz1300w venture, and then select swing arm) After removing shaft1, I found the items marked #33 (bushing) to be badly worn. I did remove the nut from shaft2 but was unable to remove it to see if there is any play on the shock area...any ideas how to get that shaft out? Do I have to punch it out? My biggest worry is getting to Bolt #29 with attached self locking nut #31. I know there are more bushings in that area but be d****d it I can get them loose. Do I have to remove the exhaust collector unit? It looks like it would be much easier to access the bolt and nut if I did so...but then I looked up how to remove the exhaust collector and it seems more complicated than I need right now. Is there a special tool or method some of you have used to access this area? Since I have to travel this weekend and parts must be ordered, I have decided to put the worn bushing back in for now and ride conservatively on this short trip. That's not hard to do in "Flatland" Saskatchewan, Canada. Any help and opinions greatly appreciated folks. Thanks.
  6. I am unable to access the VR Donations link from the MAIN MENU box on the left.
  7. My '84 Venture tends to not start after I have washed it. I suspect that the 23 year old ignition wires could be at least part of the problem, and I intend to replace them. My question is, what's the best way to access the coil end of the wires? Do I need to remove fairing parts or perhaps the battery compartment? Puzzled in MI... Skooter
  8. I need to replace my rectifier. Is there an easy way to access it or do I have to remove the lower fairing/etc?
