  1. I tightened mine up over a year ago and have not had a problem since. I have ridden 25,000 miles with no problems. Check your screws on the trunk also. I make it a habit to go through twice a year to check every bolt, nut, and screw.
  2. My switch was left on acc last Fri (no, it wasn't me) and when I got ready to go riding on Sunday, the battery was DEAD, DEAD, DEAD. Local auto parts recharged it and with no dead cells, we installed it and I was on my merry way. I don't think I even had the radio on.
  3. I have a Day Long seat and love it! My wife is not as happy with it because she likes the softness of the stock seat. It is a one piece design for rider and passenger but very easy to change out.
  4. I have seen a similar one with the addition of a finger wave to those cagers that don't give you enough room. I don't remember the price but I bet this guy could make another one.
  5. One of the guys that I ride with has taken an old sock and made a little stocking cap for his gas cap. Pretty unique and it cuts the glare.
  6. Steve, If there is anything you need, I am just a short ride away. Keep fighting and we will keep praying. Please let us know if you need anything.
  7. We also put 1,000 miles on the Venture traveling from Columbia to Washington and back. We did all interstate and cruised right on down the road. I am so glad I bought mine. I can't wait to go on another long trip!
  8. I was there on my red RSV and we were between two Goldwings. There were a number of beautiful Ventures there. We arrived as the Starriders group and we were close to the front of the parade. I can show you pictures
  9. I filled up this morning with 93 octane. I went 192 miles on 4.746 gals. That comes out to a little over 40 mpg for combined city/hwy. My work is 28 miles from home but most of that is cruising about 60 down 2 lane road. Very relaxing in the afternoon.
  10. I just updated with my pin. As a true Sailor, the coffee is on and the other refreshments are cold.
  11. Thanks for the pictures. I'm sure Reggie (and his wife) will have a much better time riding. I have been looking for a sidecar for my boxer because she hates to be left behind. I'm not sure how she would ride in it so I may try to borrow Reggie's bike to see if she will do it.
  12. I am surprised you have not had a bunch of offers to ride it out there for you.
  13. Honestly, I was just walking along and he starting following me...the old one had to be put down because he was REALLLYY SICK.
  14. I both a bright yellow safety vest from Wal-mart and it has a zipper in the front. I also have a mesh type with velcro fastner. With the tall windshield on my Venture, I don't have any problem keeping it closed. I like the zipper model the best
  15. Grow some legs! I have no problems with keeping my RSV up. It pays to have a 36 inch inseam. If you are having that much problem, go with a trike or a lowering kit.
  16. that is one of those 4 letter words that is forbidden in my house. Now ride, cruise, road trip are all good four letter words.
  17. The day long I have replaced both driver and passenger seat. It's a one piece with a wider saddle. No slit in it for a backrest (bummer). If you are looking at lowering the floorboards, are you thinking of lowering your controls also (brake and shifter)?
  18. I use to be 6'5" and now I am somewhere between 6'4" and 6'3". The day long makes you sit higher and to me much more comfortable. When I put the stock seat back on, I feel like I am sitting in a bucket with my 36" inseam and knees above my hips. The highway pegs at least let me stretch out on those longer runs. My wife doesn't like the seat because it is a bit smoother and not the pillow top so I usually put it on when I am riding solo.
  19. That seat does sit higher than the stock and the longest ride I did was up to Deals Gap. I will probably have it on going to Hershey then change out when I ride two up. The hard saddle makes my wife slip when I am braking. (I guess I shouldn't brake so hard.) It took awhile to get use to it but I can ride all day and not feel like I am riding in a bucket like the stock seat.
  20. Our condolences to you and your family. It hurts when someone so young goes off to be with the Lord but she is in a better place.
  21. I have been thinking of putting a sidecar on my 2009 RSV so that my boxer can ride with us. What did you get and how hard was it to attach.
  22. Trader, I lost my mother 4 year ago to cancer and then my dad passed away last July. I did have a good chuckle about the dentures. Wished I would have thought of that for my dad. Let us know what we can do to help. Prayers are with you and your family now and throught the process.
  23. It is not a Harley so why would it break down???
  24. Now that the arm is out of a cast and strong enough, we went for a run out to the flea market. 50 miles out and 50 back. Most of it was interstate but I got off and did a few curves just to see how it would feel. Venture feels good and it was nice to get back to riding again.
  25. Motorcycles are down payments for chrome and accessories. I still look for more accessories and I am sure that I will go nuts at Star Days.
