You know you're in Canada when you see most of the young guys (and some of the girls) wearing toques ... in the middle of summer ... coz that's the latest fashion craze.

For me it was the return trip from Venture West Los Osos as we were heading towards Reno after leaving Yosemite. We stopped for the night at a campground and got to sleep in an old western covered wagon. While the road itself was nothing special, that part of the trip was "magical"!

Didn't say I didn't like the original Rune ... it's a very different bike and I've seen a few done up pretty fancy. There's a Rune club around here ... mostly Asians and they've sunk a lotta change into some of those bikes. Now THIS version of the Valk I really don't like at all ... it's nothing more than a GW frame/engine with different (and goofy looking) body work. (but that's JMO)

I have been wanting a Valk Interstate for some time. Rode a couple and both had growly sounding trannies. Other than that, nice riding bikes and plenty of power. Yes, they have the same drive train as the pre-2001 Wings. I'm currently looking at a 2001 out in Winnipeg. Only has 24,000 miles on it. From my limited knowledge, the 1999 has some issues that were cured with the 2000 & up model. I think they were partially dropped due to the change in engine for the Wing so they revamped it and called it a Rune ... IMHO, that was the "rune" of the Valk (ruin ... pun intended) Almost bought a real sweet 2000 Valk Interstate a few years ago just before I bought the Wing. It was in Regina, SK. I was just about to hop on a plane and go get it when the guy called me to say he sold it to somebody local that had expressed interest before me. I was real choked. Brian (friesman) had checked it out for me and everything. And now Honda has brought out a new version of the Valk ... what an ugly POS IMO. Their styling has really gone off the deep end I think.

Was at the Vic shop last Saturday and did a demo ride on a Vision. They had at least 10 Slingshots there, 4 of which were a drab green color ... obviously a special order for a client. All but one were sold units. Wasn't able to test ride that day but dealer said maybe in a week or two. Seems around here those things are selling like marbles shot out a Slingshot!

I just paid off my Vic ... feels weird not having payments ... I just might.

hahaha .... we'll be buying another tent trailer when we retire for our cross-Canada / USA trip. But that's no major expense needing financing. Other than that, I don't think Nina will allow any more big purchases ... I've about worn out all my "forgivenesses" LOL

That could be interesting; however, candy colors are generally applied over silver or gold base. They are probably the most difficult to apply as it requires several "thin" and very even coats to obtain a decent end result.
