  1. I know we have some here who also belong to another Venture related group but may not check in there very often. For those folks just a note that there will be a gathering near Dalton, GA for some mountain riding. Arriving Wednesday June 19th and departing Sunday June 23rd. This is not my event, just passing the word to others who may wish to check it out. Safe journeys
  2. Who has disconnected antidive on a 83/84? If so... did it help braking? Did it cause noticable greater dive? Thanks
  3. One trying to be a Harley... one trying to be a Concours.
  4. Working on a '83 for my son. I would like to pull carbs and clean them. But I don't like to crack open carbs before I have new seals and gaskets. I am not finding any rebuild kits available and I've read in past threads they are not available. What do you all do when you need to crack open 83-84 carbs? Thanks
  5. My the difference 10 years makes..
  6. My son picking up his new project. Meet VenturousJR
  7. I am sooooo relieved!! After my '02 RSV clicked over 120k miles... I got the itch to get another bike. I was torn between waiting to see what Yamaha came out with to replace the RSV or just go ahead and get a 2015 Goldwing. I decided to get the Goldwing. If Yamaha would have come out with something I would have wanted... I would be really pissed. Thankfully... that did not happen. LOL If I wanted a air cooled, v-twin with belt drive... I would buy American. I like that they went back to the frame mounted fairing like my '92 VR and Wing and some of the other features are just great. But an air cooled tractor engine??? I'll pass.
  8. Found a handy "OK GOOGLE" use the other day. When I am out riding solo, I often have no direction or destination. My wife always asks that I periodically send her my location just in case. Many mountain roads here in east TN one could ride over the edge and not be found until the buzzards get busy. I mount my android smart phone on my handlebars. Not to browse facebook or anything stupid, but to see if an important call or text comes in from a kid or something. Anyway, I found if at a stop light I say "OK GOOGLE. TEXT LISA MY LOCATION" it automatically prepares a text with a map link of my current location. I then simply say "SEND IT" and I'm done. All hands free. Doesn't work on the move. Too much wind noise I suspect. Anyway, a quick way to check in periodically.
  9. I about 7,000 miles on a set on my Wing. So far like them. Seem to be wearing well. Of that 7000 miles, about 4500 miles was pulling a tent trailer and the rear still shows good life left.
  10. Sorry to say we will not be able to make this one. I still might buzz down for a ride with you all since I'm only 2hrs away. Anyway, I just called and cancelled my reservations on site D-18, so if anyone wants that site or wants to move to that site... it should be available for a little bit.

  12. If he donated Tweeks to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham he would get free access for life. And... they are adding a whole new section so likely could display it. That bike is so cool and unique I bet it would be a great display.
  13. Congrats. I also am now riding a red/black 2015/ABS Wing and love it. I now have around 19,000 miles on mine with no issues.
  14. Here is a link on my website to a PDF that I put together for another group awhile back that might be useful. http://www.macesoftware.com/VNet/R1_Swap.pdf
  15. Yes. Worth it. Also swap out brake lines for SS if you have not already.
  16. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  17. Don't think I have replied here, but after 13 years and 120,000 on my RSV, I moved to a new wing May 2015. Love the increased power, handling, and electronics... but the Wing will never be as comfortable as that RSV was. Nor as classy looking. I waited in hope that Yamaha would release an updated version, but alas... still no new serious tourer so it was time to move on. Even though the wing is also an aging platform, it has least been updated over the years.
  18. If I had never made a mistake that effected others... I might consider being critical... but sadly I too have made mistakes. Having dealt with Canaan myself setting up rallies the past 10 years, I could have possibly reminded Chuck that Canaan does require a signed contract. I never thought to make that reminder. So blame can be spread if necessary. But I will say of all the rallies I have set up since 2004, Canaan is the only venue that I have used that required a signed contract. Every other place I have set up at, a verbal phone conversation was all needed. Well said Don. Thanks.
  19. The 2005 and up are much more stable. I had a 1990 mustang convertible. It had tons of body flex. My 2005 is WAY more stable.
  20. Should be about as successful as the Rune...
  21. I blame not enough gun control... LOL Seriously... crap happens, blame won't fix that. We will be there for the new dates.
  22. OK, we are reserved. Arrive 17th and depart 21st.
  23. Has anyone checked to see if there are any openings for these dates in D section? I just tried to reserve online and the only section that shows vacancy is in G section.
  24. I have a 2005 mustang convertible I bought new. Have 110000 miles now. No issues. Has been a great fun car.
