So, Gurus.. is it important that when re-installing the final drive that you tighten the axle bolt first then the 4 final drive nuts ? What happens if you don't do it in that order ?

From what I can tell is that the odds are 37:1 that you get it done and make the other 98.976% of us look like pansies in a pink bikini.

Cool toy. Looks like fun. Great music choices. Just think how much clearer and faster it would have been if you were riding a 1st Gen. ( Just saying...)

Have fun and enjoy. It's hard to be away from the little ones....even when they are not so little anymore. My daughter and granddaughter live in North Carolina and we spend all our extra time and money traveling there, or bringing them here. My Grand Princess is only 2 1/2 and she has been to Disneyland 3 times with her 4th already scheduled for September. She has her Nana and Papa wrapped around her littlest finger...

Unplanned Venture owner
KIC replied to Ed S, SE Nebr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes. Mine has some nice pinstripping with two scarecrows on the back. I was told by a member here that 'Scarecrow" did pinstripping at one of the Venture rallies. Since mine has two with different dates, it means the owner was at at least 2 rallies and had work done to the bike. -
I got one. Said I won a brand new 1st Gen...

Lost mine same way. On the freeway and then it was gone. In fact this post is making me go out and tighten mine again since I changed my front tire last month. -

I see the custom pin striping on it. Does it have a little scarecrow painted on it somewhere, like on the back ? -
CSA is okay for parts. Be careful on bike purchases as they were really sneaky on prices and added costs for two people I know, including my son. Also their service department is pretty good. I have used them for tire mounts etc. They did screw up a tube install in my KLR which caused a blow out, but they took care of it. So they are pretty good overall. You were up in the good part of the area and didn't let me know ?? I think there are rules about that... P.S. RideNow DOES NOT have a good rep in the area with real bikers... they take real bike advantage of the new riders. We all refer to it as SlimeNow.. They have a lot of young idiots working on the bikes and they oversell bikes and parts to newbies.

Peggy...be sure you change the password to your email account that is the email associated with your FB page. If they get that password, they can keep taking over your account no matter how many times you change your FB account password. My sister in law's account kept getting hacked and they would message me about how "she" was mugged and needed money immediately. I had fun with the con man trying to give him fake American Express and Visa card numbers etc. All he wanted was an emergency Western Union money sent. I finally told him I had kept him on the computer long enough to trace his IP number... he never answered after that.... that hurt my feelings... I finally figured how they kept getting into my Sister in laws account and it was through her email account. Every time she changed her password, they would request or read the same email in her account.

I heard that NY calculates how many breaths per minute, subtracts .01% for pollution, adds 32.5% for heavy breathing during...well uhm..intimate sessions, multiplies at a rate of 29.75% against gross yearly income, adds a 32% penalty if you are a Conservative ( called a shut your truthful yap tax) and then adds a 22% just because we can tax on top of the 50% income tax. Which is why I left there when I was 6 months old...

Is it fair to pick on somebody who is obviously struggling with mental issues ? I mean he does own/like a 2nd Gen when obviously a 1st Gen is the most sound and reasonable decision. Then he re-ups to proclaim it loudly again ! If that isn't a cry for help what is ?? Get that boy some Obama Mental Healthcare... or just keep giving him a hard time for grins and giggles...

This is in another unrelated thread so I thought I would post it as a specific question. This is my response/question.... ---------------------- I just lubed my final drive when I switched the rear tire. I'm thinking that we could pull your final drive off without pulling the tire all the way off to make it a faster job. OKAY..Gurus.. what if we 1) empty all the bags of weight 2) put on center stand 3) small board under tire to barely support it ( this all saves the front tire removal) 4) remove the left exhaust pipe 5) remove the easy 3 nuts holding the final drive 6) fight like crap to get the fourth top inside nut 7) remove the final drive ??? That is the question...will there be enough room without removing the whole axle and rear wheel.. I know we wouldn't have to take the wheel from under the bike, but removing the whole rear wheel thing includes the brakes and other exhaust etc. .

A few questions
KIC replied to comingbackdown's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The first thing on the headlight is to make sure the starter switch is coming all the way out. It is very common for the starter button to get a little corroded and not come all the way out. You can pull it out with your fingers. If that is the problem, a little electrical cleaner and a short shot of WD-40 type will loosen it up. Don't get any of it on your paint. Welcome. And it is a heavy bike. If you know somebody with a lighter small bike you might borrow it for a while to get a few miles under your belt. -

Help Bleeding the rear brake
KIC replied to Kevrg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There are two purposes for bleeding, one to get the air out..but the other is to get the old fluid that might have water ( condensation) in the system. So bleeding and adding new fluid as you bleed, cleans your system. -
Help Bleeding the rear brake
KIC replied to Kevrg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Unless the Previous Owner (PO) disconnected your front brakes from the rear, they are connected. I bled my rear, then the valve in the fairing area, and then the back again. This was also because I wanted to clean out the brake fluid. Welcome to the forum. Join so you get all the benefits. It is worth many times more than the $12.00. -
Another article on it.... http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/06/19/harley-davidson-unveils-first-electric-motorcycle/?intcmp=obnetwork Now you won't just need a trailer, you'lll need the world's longest extension cord....

I bought your tool when I did mine. I have used it several times. It was well worth it !!

Thanks for the replies. I have tried to talk him into the progressives and will see if I can do that. I do have the bearing nut tool from when I did mine. It was worth it. What makes the fairing removal such a PIA ? Any "special" tools I should make sure we have ready ?
