  1. Okay, I'll try to drain any water before I disassemble the petcock. Thanks!
  2. Been doing some reading. I do use a mix of Seafoam and Stabil when bike sits. Guess I can give it a stronger dose and try to leave petcock in RES. Was considering draining the tank.
  3. Always turn petcock ON when using bike and turn it OFF when not. Never use RES... Well, this week I turned the petcock to RES with a full gas tank, and engine started sputtering. Switched back to ON, and all was fine. Is it possible the RES portion of tank has bad gas or maybe the petcock is the issue? Thanks!
  4. Congrats folks! Sounds like a fun time!
  5. Hi Chuck! Yes, will be passing your way. Plan is to take interstates, except for Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. Cranford, NJ -> Winchester -> Roanoke -> Asheville -> Roanoke -> Chambersburg, PA -> Cranford, NJ. That's six days of driving. Have a medical procedure three days after I return, so need to stick to schedule. Have feeling I'm going to have some long driving days on Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, speed limit is slow and roads are twisty. Certainly won't be able to pull over for every scenic overlook. Not sure if I will have to branch out to the interstates at some point. Will see how it goes. Leaving Sunday, after Saturday's rain. Weather should be great after that. I'm excited! You're welcome to ride along on any parts, if you like. Would certainly enjoy your company.
  6. Puc, You trust the weather folks don't you?
  7. This is the best time of the year!! Just got back from motorcycle ride to northern NH. Sunday I leave for Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. Weather looks great!
  8. "Even though the new fuel is coming to market, the gasoline or E10 you fill your tank with now will still be available. There is a twist, though. At gas stations that use blender pumps (a single spout that dispenses all octanes) you'll have to purchase at least 4 gallons of E10 to insure any E15 in the hose is diluted to safe levels in your fuel tank." Hopefully, you don't select E15 by mistake. '...ethanol is fairly corrosive to rubber and certain metals... If your vehicle sits for long periods between use, the moisture settles to the bottom of the tank and can potentially clog in-tank pumps and filters. Ethanol forms a brown goo when left in a fuel tank too long, which can clog fuel-system components. Use a fuel stabilizer if the engine will sit for more than a few weeks without use; this will reduce the ethanol–water separation and potential gumming issues.' http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/hybrid-electric/a11687/four-things-to-know-about-e15-15096134/
  9. Thanks Gary! Could be rather pricey if I have to go this route. "G V S Sport Motorcycle - SUNOCO 1551 County Rd 532, Chatsworth NJ 609-726-1717 Ethanol-free octane ratings: 91 95 110 GPS coordinates: N 39.81765 W 74.53487 (entered by Jonathan Lathbury) Updated by D ferguson, September 08, 2016 15:22 CDT I just purchased 91 Octane E0 for $5.50/Gal. today from G V S Updated by Jonathan Lathbury, August 01, 2016 14:45 CDT I called and verified this shop does sell E0 gas in NJ. This is a motorcycle repair shop and they stock the fuel for bikers. If you have a car or some other need you'll have to bring your own gas can. They can pump 91 and 95 octane E0 into your can. The 110 octane E0 contains a small amount of lead and is sold in five gallon containers. Keep in mind this business went to great effort to stock E0 fuel so their price may be a bit higher than in other parts of the country where E0 gas is more plentiful. None the less I hope you support this business so that the will continue to sell E0 gas."
  10. Sadly, we have no ethanol free gas in state. Would have to truck it in from out of state.
  11. Yay AMA! https://cqrcengage.com/amacycle/app/write-a-letter?0&engagementId=250173
  12. Wow! So cool! Wish I had the nerve to attempt such a trip! Thanks so much for sharing!
  13. Dan, Have new Carbtune, and I'm not far from you. Can set up a tent, and we can give it shot, if you like. I've watched others do mine. Do you have long Phillips screwdrivers? Have tech notes describing procedure. Just let me know. I'm retired, so I am available most times. Leo
  14. Wow Dan! Your first trip took you within 6 miles of our hometown, Berlin, NH. Is that the Ikea in Elizabeth, NJ? Looks like some fun riding!
  15. 3.5mm stereo headphone splitter from Walmart... By setting stereo to AUX, should be able to hear GPS directions, GPS music and CB in your headset.
  16. Dennis, Bob opened fairing to attach audio splitter for my new Zumo 660 GPS. Can now hear GPS in my earphones with stereo set to AUX. We will be at Dover. Thanks!
  17. Don and Eileen have a beautiful place! Thanks for everything!
  18. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You and Eileen are the best!
  19. Thanks Don, Eileen and helpers for a wonderful time! This was my first MD, and everyone was so nice! Appreciate your patience Don in syncing my carbs. Trike runs great! Thanks Bob for attaching my Zumo 660 to my audio system. Works great and is a big help! Everything was great! Still on the road for one more day. Overnighting near State College, PA. Was able to help some bikers in need today, and I feel really good about that. Came around a curve and found three bikers and two bikes in the middle of the road. Male biker was in a lot of pain. He had dumped his bike in the road and chewed up the back of his right hand, blood all over his hand. Cleared the road and provided materials to clean and bandage wound. Folks were local and were expecting friends to drive by. They were very happy that I stopped. Feel good this evening.
  20. Craig, I'm excited too. My trike is also packed. Going to bed in a few minutes. Anxious to see everyone! Leo
  21. Reiny, Yes, bet it is the fuse. Blew mine in Arkansas with my air pump and lost use of my GPS. Opened the right cowling and replaced the 5A fuse with a spare provided.
  22. We must be doing some ESP. Bought black ties when I bought the splitter. Just didn't mention it.
  23. No passing lights Bob...
  24. Okay, have the audio splitter and 4' cable. Ready to roll...
