  3. Check the bolts mounting to the frame in front, if you have a headlight extender check all 4 bolts, they get their ground here and if loose will cause it to be dim.

  8. I haven't run across that, checklist 1) the antenna with the tuning coil should be on the left side of the bike as you are sitting on it. 2) look at the black box under the trunk, open it ( two bands ) and check to see that the antenna ( It's a motorola plug like your antenna on your car) is plugged in, it should run out the left side to the antenna. 3) power chords are hooked up. If it's a no go then check for power at the unit or the fuse. 4) is your headset & mic plugged in, the cb won't work without a headset. 5) connections, open make sure the pins are all clean ( not green) put dielectric grease on the connectors.
  9. any air oil supply shop should have a fitting that works, they can make up new lines and put permanent fittings on's that will last another 20-30 years

  13. only real disadvantage is the whine, the plus is you won't be stuck on the side of the road with a broken belt and a $1000.00 bill every time that happends. The shafts are fairly reliable with gear oil changes and basic maintenance.

  19. Mine whines more when it's warm out and in a certain rpm, thats fairly normal. I had louder pipes on it but put the origionals back on because of some long rides ( drone on a long run is a killer) so I notice mine a bit more. I run 20w 50 semi-synthetic yamalube because of the warrentee and it is quiter with this than the 15w 50 full synthetic. On mine it whines in the middle of the power band, change your shift points a bit and see if you notice the difference. These bikes like to be in the power band and not at the low end of your shift points. Now as for this group, it is an awesome bunch, you do need to stick around to understand the humor sometimes. Get to know some of the people and hit some activities. They know a ton about the bike and will help you keep on the road and out of the stealers shoppe.
  20. that grasshopper allows you to speak to the venture gods , sometimes the gold wing folks and on a very rare occasion a harley guy ( riding a bike that looks like a venture)

  22. great it took 20 years to get that song out of my head and you put the 8 track back in:banana:
  23. if you are using that plug for power you should have a fuse on it for the wire size. I will say most small saddlebag air compressors have small gauge wire and should not cause a problem, on the other side it will take a bit for a fill.
  24. What supposedly makes a car safe is that it works as a Faraday cage, you are surrounded by metal not just the roof. Many people have been injured by lightning strikes in cars and trucks , it will blow out windows. . . It's bad luck or no luck. People are injured while in a house, building . . . You are best to seek shelter under a metal structure
