1. Heather got some parking lot time in today. She is learning the controls and how to operate the clutch. She did really good, maybe tomorrow we will continue with 1st gear maneuvers and if that goes well might shift to 2nd. I'm trying to go slow and drill each thing until it's second nature.
2. I wouldn't mind her leaving me the Magna to ride. That will hurt my pride way less than when she passes me like I'm tied to a post. There will be quite a lot of practice before I have to worry about such things.
3. Cool video!! Probably my favorite area to ride, great roads and scenery
4. The bike is still on the side stand in the pic. With her MC boots on she is flat footed on the pavement. The bike has a 28" seat so it's pretty low
5. My RSV is already named Scarlett so she named the Magna "Ruby". If you meant does my wife have a name it is Heather
6. My wife has been wanting to get her own bike for some time now. Well, I ran across a good deal on a perfectly maintained '94 Honda Magna 750. There is not a pit, nick, bang, scratch, nothing to do but ride it. For those not familiar with this model the 750 is a liquid cooled V-4 that puts out 78hp and only weighs 500lbs. Hers has 17,000 miles but not for long. This is her first clutched vehicle so getting the basics down for now and a Riders Edge Course will be scheduled this week. I'm really excited for her and I think she's pretty happy too.
7. I gotta do that. Great craftsmanship!!
8. Hope you feel better. Not being able to get around really is no fun
9. So I went sailing in the British Virgin Islands for a week. Three days in, on the way back from snorkeling, I go to step off the Dingy onto the boat deck and I slipped on the plastic down onto the stainless steel swim ladder. Well, the tubular ladder had an open end with no safety cap on it. I landed, full weight (225lbs) at a 16" fall on the ball of my foot:doh: The cut went all the way through the tendon and nerve and made a 3-1/2" laceration. 24 hours later, after surgery, I'm back on the boat and finish out the trip. The vacation was great but it will be some time to get back to 100% strength and mobility. It's gonna be a long summer:bawling:
10. Congrats on the new Wing!! I love the power and handling of it but I am with Buddy on the foot position. I hope you do stick around, I've always found your posts interesting and valuable.
11. Great color choices, it really sets it off
12. Yes check fuel filter and you may have just gotten some bad gas. I have had the same symptoms with bad gas especially when I was trying to run High Test, some stations rarely sell this grade so you get very poor grade. This said I would drain the gas, replace the filter, and sea foam treat it with a healthy dose. Let us know how it goes.
13. I can't look at this without laughing:rotf:
14. My guess is yours has a 4.10 gear and his is probably a 3.73 or 3.55 in the rearend
15. Excellent purchase!! I've been tossing around the acquisition of a FJR and hanging on to the Venture. Both are great bikes
16. I agree with Puc that a Man to Man talk is in order. If this doesn't get results, Bongobobny and Trader have the right idea in that lives are being put in danger, that of your son and innocent motorists. It is a very tough call but if you knew he was going to plant a bomb or go on a shooting spree how would you react? A two ton vehicle can be just as devastating a weapon especially in an impaired drivers hands. Love your son but protect the innocent.
17. The Indians look like a great machine! Two of my Buddy's rode them at biketoberfest last fall. They were so impressed one of them just ordered a Chieftan it should be in, in a couple weeks. I can't wait to try it out! My other Bud would buy one also but his current finances won't allow for it.
18. Sorry to hear about this young man. We all need to safety check our bikes before we take them out also. Brakes, tire condition and pressures, all signal and headlights, and fuel lines brake lines for leaks. Road surface is also a concern as potholes, salt, and sand have been liberally applied for several months now. Be safe
19. It has been a rough winter but we finally got some sunshine for a couple days here. I dug Scarlett out of the garage washed and polished the 4 1/2 months of dust off, ( I couldn't believe it had been that long) and took a 30 mile run. There was a lot of sand and grit in the intersections and curves, the temp was about 40 deg but it took the edge off. Tomorrow is supposed to be 60+deg I'm hoping to get a couple hundred miles in. I hope to see you on the trail.
