  1. We hit a very deep pot hole a couple of years ago, and had the same thing going on, it hit hard enough that it put flat spots on the steering head bearings. Not sure if hitting the hole caused it or not but I also had to replace the front wheel bearings with a 1,000 miles,
  2. Prayers headed up, have been down a much similar path. Hope you and your family come out of this all okay.
  3. Yes I did take the snap ring off and greased it. I also pulled the drive shaft and found that it had been a long time since it had been greased. From what I understand that the shop that did the tire changes didn't bother using grease. I take my cycles apart every winter and clean and grease.
  4. The splines are supposed to be flat and square, this one is shot, after looking more at the gear on the final drive I can see a lot of ware on there, so I replaced the final drive and hub from a different one. It turns much smoother and a lot quieter. I did also find that the keeper for the needle bearings wasn't holding them in place. Orlin
  5. This was in a 07 Venture it had a growl to it when I pulled in the clutch going down the road looks to me its been a long time since any grease had been out on this, its as I took it out, I didn't wipe it down. The bearing still was smooth and had grease and the splines on the final drive looked to be in good shape, I put in a hub that I had here and it seemed to fit good and no play, Orlin
  6. I have a set you can have, I am 2 hours from you near Viroqua Orlin
  7. LCowpuc said to let those know that they made to WI, Glad they stopped by, it a nice night for company. Hope he likes his surprise when he gets home.
  8. Sounds like you two had a very nice evening, it's good to get a date night as Sharon likes to call them.
  9. Thank you to all of you that came, It was great to make some new friends and get to see some old friends. Sure hope that everyone got to enjoy their time here. It sure would have been nice if the rain would have stayed away, but we made the best of it. We had a great time having everyone here, and now that you all know where we are don't be shy. There is a big Thank you that has to go out to those that came to help out, with out them it wouldn't have happened. Things are cleaned up and put away and the lazy boy is calling my name so I think that I am going to go and relax for awhile. Thanks again from Sharon and me for sharing your time with us, and looking forward to the next time we get to see one another again. Orlin and Sharon

  12. Wishing all of those riding and driving a safe and enjoyable time getting here. Orlin and Sharon
  13. Sharon says that she is getting excited for the Rally, as for me I am a ball of nerves, Mother Nature keeps making my list longer and less time to get it all done.. We must of had lighting hit our out door water hydrants I have one that has a hole in the pipe under ground and the other blew a hole out of the plastic pipe near the well, that one I will have fixed the other is a maybe, if I can get the backhoe home and have the time to fit it in I will have that fixed. That will leave us with using the shower in the house or in our camper, There is the pool in Viroqua that has showers and it is $2.00 to take a shower. I know that there are a couple that are bringing their campers, I can fill the fresh water tanks so you can still have water. The rides are planed just need to pre ride them again to make sure the roads are good riding. I did get some people that have just registered and I will see if I can still get you tee shirts I may not be able to get the same color but I will see what I can do. If you don't want to go on the group ride there will be maps here of the area and other stuff to look at to let you know what is in the area. I am going to post this in the International Rally spot also and will be putting some more information about the rides on the also in a couple of days. Orlin
  14. Jim Sorry to see that you cant make it, Maybe you can get a weekend in to come on down.
  15. Thanks for the offers, Had some good help come yesterday my daughter and her guy and a good friend of mine came down yesterday and we got most of it cleaned up. Now it's get up around the house done. Just alot of limbs to clean up. And get the mowing done and we will be ready. Orlin
  16. The weather said some rain and maybe some wind for yesterday, well we got it, lots of rain and a lot of wind. We had to go to town it was raining, got our stuff done and on the way home about a mile from our place there are trees laying on the road and I told Sharon this doesn't look good, we pull in the drive way to find it washed out again for the 4rth time this year and tree limbs laying all over the place along with lawn chairs and what ever wasn't nailed down. So its off to work because I had a couple of trees down on a couple of my roads. I get back home and we went down to check the campground out and what a mess limbs and trees down, We stayed in the camper and I got up this morning and walked around we lost a few trees and there is stuff all over the place some not ours and some of our stuff is gone not sure where it went but its not there. All of this after a springs worth of cleaning up from last falls flood that I finished up yesterday, I had all of the trees trimmed grass all mowed and I sat down there and thought finally I am done and the campground is ready again. So now I get to work this week cleaning it all back up again. But not today I am going to hop on the bike and go do a pre ride for the Rally and get my thought back in order again. Orlin
  17. Sorry that you cant make it, you can put Maintenance Day here at our place on your calendar for next year. Orlin
  18. Its black top to our house, very nice ride down the valley
  19. Okay folks its getting to the time where I need to start putting things in place. If you want tee shirts you need to let me know by June 10th she needs two weeks to order and get them done. I am not going to order extras to have left overs seems to be a waste of money. Thanks to those that have sent in their registration, I see that there are those on the calendar and other that have said they are coming that haven't did the registration yet. Due to the flood last fall I am still working on my road down to the campground and I cant say that it will be ready for cycles, we will have transportation to get you down there and back. Mother Nature has not been very nice and given us many good drying days around here. I have the routes for the rides planed now its get out and ride them and get our stops and times down. The bonfire and the cookout will be up by our house just incase we should happen to get some rain and we need to be inside. I will be picking up some maps this week for those of you that may not want to be in a group ride and would like to know of the sights to see here in our area on your own. Will be putting more information about the rides by the end of the week. Orlin
  20. Been spending a lot of time getting our campground back in order after the flooding last fall. I was getting to the point where I was thinking is this worth all of the work. I am close to being done as I can be for this year and we got our camper down there and set up and we have spent a few nights down there. Sure can sleep good listening to the creek flow by. And I said sure is nice to be down here again. So last night they are saying we are going to get thunder storms, I wake up to the camper setting in 6 inches of water I can hear the creek is up and water flowing down threw the water way. I told Sharon that where I parked the camper that it gets a puddle out front when it rains, well the pickup setting in about 8 inches of water in front of the camper so we walk threw the water to the pick up get in and look around rest of the campground is fine, just where I put the camper this time is where all of the water seems to find its way to. I guess that I will be moving the camper, seemed like such a nice spot to. Orlin
  21. Time to start rapping things up for the Rally. Sorry if I didn't get a reply back or a message out, But its been a very busy time around here and I hope that it stays slowed down for awhile. I see that there are 27 people on the calendar and we have received 4 registrations if you know you are coming please send in your registration it would be very helpful. Have been getting asked about what we will be doing. Most of all I am going to make sure that we all get time to be together relax and chat and of course get in some riding. Tuesday will be everyone that is coming will meet at our place. And if there are those that they feel like getting in a ride and most or all are here we can put one together. Wednesday will be everyone will meet up here at our place at 10:00 we will head out for a ride, we can do 9:00 I know that there are those that will ride a long way to get here and may want to get to early of a start. For me I could head out when the sun is coming up but that may not go over to well. Thursday will be the same other than its the evening for the bonfire and cookout here at our place. Friday will be seeing those off that are heading back home and for those that want to stay longer you are welcome and if we can get in a afternoon or evening ride we can do that. I will be getting together with a couple of the volunteers this coming weekend to discuss the food for Thursdays meal. Will post pictures of the tee shirts next. For those of you that have not been to our area, we have some great riding roads and there isn't very many straight ones, I know there are those that like to scrape the pegs, sorry we wont be doing that these will be nice paced rides so we all stay together and as safe as possible. There are some that will be coming to Town before Tuesday we will be here so don't be shy. I will be posting more information next week. Orlin

  23. Our 17 year old son has a book that he wrote and wants to get it published. He has had a few people read it and they liked the book. He also has contacted 2 publishers and one wants a lot of money up front and the other will publish the book they are a new and there is no up front money. This is something that I know nothing about I have been doing some reading about publishing and ways of doing it. I would like to see him get good advice he has worked very hard to get to this point and I would hate to see him get taken advantage of. He said that he isn't out to make a lot of money that he enjoys writing and its not about the money. Orlin
