  1. Thanks all for the well wishes and warnings.... but then again I had a Vmax. Not like it was stock in any way. So I am very used to dropping money on my bike. Just a different direction with more female companion support in my decisions. Hell she even emailed me every bike she could find within 800 miles. I think that last 300 mile ride on the back of the Vmax convinced her. Goodbye old friend
  2. After 8.5 years I sold my Vmax with the idea of buying a Venture. I came close to jumping on a few first gens and also a few second gens. Had a 99 all picked out but when I made the call they had sold it... guy emailed me after and said he had a 08 with 1100 miles on it. Checked the warranty date and held my breath for pics. Made the deposit that night. 10 days and the hole in my shop will be filled. She won't be as quick but I can always borrow my old max if I wanna go fast. I am anxious to see how the comfy people live. Thanks for all the ideas the forums have planted in the last few weeks...my wallet hates you all! Frank
  3. Have been an auto service tech for more than 15 years... this is no contest. Buy the Buick, a few problems here and there but proper maint goes a long way. That Chrysler was bad news from the word go. As for the current ride. Find a busy corner and throw a sign in it. Take offers till one sounds right. It's just too hard to know what people will pay for stuff anymore. Best of luck with the "new" ride! Frank
  4. Your idea is a good one... I want this for the rider. She has more fun if we aren't stopping so much to see if the kids called. I would like to see what you have made up. Also thanks for the Kennedy Cell Set... I will keep that in mind
  5. Glad I could post something useful. I get kind of ocd about these kind of projects so for my girlfriends sanity I hope to get it figured out. Will be easier once I pick up the bike and can tinker with it in person. But that wont happen till the 12th. So for now I research. Thanks Frank
  6. Been looking at all the info about adding phone to to the RSV setup. What I have is an iphone 3gs and a HTC evo. I know I can get the sound from the phone to the headsets. Is there a way to get headset mic output into the phone? I was thinking about building a patch cable like this http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/05/28/diy-an-ipod-touchiphone-microphone-and-headphone-breakout-cable/ But need diagrams and info on the coms setup so I can see if this(the mic feed) is doable. I know BuddyRich makes a breakout cable for you garmin users. Anyone have any info? Basically the phone is a mp3 player and paperweight (we switched to Sprint) Thought I could use it for the GPS and music. But also my current phone uses the same style of headset. Thanks for any info Frank
  7. I have been stalking for a bit... But I can chime in on this one. I run a Dual boot Hackintosh/Windows 7 Machine here. I truly can't believe anyone would go back to anything pre Windows7. It is as bulletproof as any OS including Mac. That's not to say some can't mess up anything they touch (just like motorcycles). So that being said...to the OP fix the problem you are having in Win7...avoid rolling back to anything else. Compatibility mode works very well!!! If you can give us a heads up on the app I'm sure we can figure it out. If you are stubborn and have to go back to XP we can get you there too. Just don't think it's a great idea. I'm going to go back to mod ideas, fat joke and wife jokes... I have a lot of catching up to do. Frank
