  1. I would say depends on your mechanical skills and time available. Im like maybe 2 hr away straight across SR 64 and US 27. With some advance scheduling I could probably help you on a Sat or Sun get the motor out. I have the service manual on my computer to look up if head etc can come off in frame. It would be nice, but I wouldnt bet on it. Shoot checking valve clearances is tuff enough. If it only killed a piston and rod, I would certainly think it less expensive to replace parts if skills are up to it.

    Hard Ride?

Hope the rain blows out there in NC and Ga mountians by next Sat. heading up that way for a week, then over to Savannha for a day or so. As for the crazy choice of touring bike. Back in 57 my brother was stationed in Tampa Fl, he rode his BSA like 175 or something all the way from Fl to Detriot. Man I think about that ride on that small a bike, ouch.
  3. I dont understand how these folks can buy, regester oh and would be nice to tag it. But how they get away with it and not someone flag "this guy dont have a DL". Go run your new to you jet ski across the lake and see how fast the po po find you. Not that its going to fix anything but the family needs to sue the crap in cival court , yea I know he probably dont own anything. But he never would if I was involved.

    Cable Lubing

I have the gizmo and some lube. But I just cant bring myself to break all those cable connections apart and spray them. Argh just seems like such a PIA job. Cant even find the mid point junction of cables.
  5. When you heading out Barry? We are heading up that way around 10th of Oct.

    Beware!

The old saying "if its to good to be true" comes to mind. I know most of us are always looking for a good deal rite?
  7. Biltmore in Ashville is good spot. Also Wheels through time in maggie valley is a cool place to spend some time.
  8. Cant imagine any additive for oil that helps get better milage would not have some sort of "friction modifyer" Thus if it make the crank, rods etc slippyer'er it probably aint good for trying to get the cluth to grip.
  9. Just wire it up with fusable link wire. No fuse required then.
  10. Most all efi systems have a kind of "fail safe" mode. It will allow engine to run in a limp mode. So first thing its missing a signal.
  11. I like the option to build my own routes in tyre and import also. Phone works OK in pinch, but sometimes "scout" has a tendancy to run you some goofy ways to get to destination.
  12. Last A&W I remeber going to was in Plymouth Wis. Still was a mom n pop private job, had good grub too. IBC makes a good old style root beer.
  13. I have a Garmin 765. I use a ram mount, I also have a ram mount for mu cell phone. That one is the X type. Unless its raining pretty hard they dont get wet. If I am concerned about it I use a zip top bag over it.
  14. Heading that way Oct 13th or so.

    fog lights

Mine run of a key on power wire off my by pass relay.
  16. Sorry. mowing machine. Kind of like the snow blower only the blades lay flat against the ground and chew grass. I try not to use mine much so it will last longer. lol
  17. Thanks Puc. I have these useless trees here called Palms. Very slender tall things, not much good for shade. Although when thier leaves fall of some of them can be 4 or 5 ft long. The seeds of them look sort of like grapes but are orange and hard as a rock. They make a lot of racket when you run them over with the moing machine.
  18. Whats this falling leaves thing your talking about?
  19. Isn't hard to ride down the road standing on ur head looking at them things?
  20. Hmm I dunno what the @#$ difference the color makes. Its going to be inside an engine covered in oil and behind a cover. Better question is, if your 2nd gen clutch basket starts screaming, can you put a first gen one in. Nobody seems to complain about that on the 1st gen.
  21. I have been in some "bad" motels over the years with traveling for work a lot and riding the bike. but you said worst, so I figured this one is pretty bad as it still stick in my wife and my mind when you say worst motels. Vicksburg Mississippi. At the time it was a Knights inn. We had traveled all day from south of Tampa bay area and that's how far we made it that day. Place didn't look all that bad from outside, but it was getting dark when we stopped. Checked in, dropped bags and went to go eat. So we get back and its like 7pm or something. Get ready to jump in shower, noticed water was running some and probably for awhile as there was a noticeable stain from dripping water. Took a very long time to get "warm water" Carpet was pretty crappy looking if I remember but I was like "hey I just need to sleep for a few and we are gone". So we get in bed and we must have been closer to a truck stop than I originally thought as you could hear air brakes and such pretty well. Once we turned the lights out there was as much light from under the door as through the window. I had to take towels and shove them in the under door gap to keep out critters and coll air in. Have never stayed in that brand of hotel since. I would have got more sleep at a rest area on a picnic table.

    A Sad day!!

The 3 or so badly designed chryslers I have been exposed to can actually be traced back to the then owning company. The 200 is probably a FIAT (fix it again Tony) The other was the crossfire a Mercedes and some of the sebrings which were Mitsubishi

    A Sad day!!

I dunno how said I would be. They will give you a couple hundred @ the crusher. The Grand Ams I have had to work on (small ones) aint been that great.
  24. The spring perch will pretty much only anjust ride heighth. There is a set screw looking thing on the bottom of the shock, that will become your bump/rebound adjustment now. There should be a allen wrench included with shock purchase.
  25. The button on the cord one I posted is from the company in link. I can make the earbud adapter, but not for what I have similar parts available off ebay. They just buy way more qty and thus cheaper parts price. The mute button thing is quality rig.
