    I bought the hopkins convertor from Oreilys for 45 bucks, I bought the powered one to isolate the trailer. Look in the classifieds one of our members makes a plug and play harness that makes it really simple to hook up.

    I had a similar issue so I went and bought a speed bleeder 5 mins later I was done. If you can't find speed bleeders speed metal makes a neat tool that is a bleeder wrench and a one way valve that works well.

    Did adjusting the idle take care of your backfire?

    Don't think idle setting is your issue but there is an idle screw on the right side about 3/4 of the way back under the gas tank it is a knob with a screw head. I am curious when was the last time you synched the carbs?

    Can you post a couple of pics of what your are seeing?

    I have no gaps in the fairing, make sure you don't have something pinched not allowing it to fit snug. The chrome strip does not fit as snug to the windshield, however not enough to see down into it.
