  1. Oh man, we FEEL for you on THIS ONE!

We've lived in the Boonies for the last 23 years, loving every minute of it.

With both of us in our mid-70s, and some serious Health Issues complicating things, our Kids began pressuring us to move 'into Town', and 'reachable' in a hurry if need be. (It takes 20 minutes for our closest Kids to get here in an emergency.)

So we 'Caved', and started the process. Got as far as 'Ready to Sign' for a luvly home 2 miles away from 'Help If Needed'. Realtor pulls out an 'OPTIONS' binder similar in size to the NYC phone directory, and says: "What color faucets do you want in the Mud Room?" See where this is/was going?

That's as far as he got. A year later, we're still sitting 20 minutes away from Emergency Help, in our Happy Home. As for The Kids; as soon as the question: "Who's helping clean out the Attic?" popped up, they quickly realized the best option was to Ride it Out right where we are.

Hope you aren't facing the same sort of decision!~

    Rgds, WRIDR

LOTS of stuff to get rid of, it's unbelievable how much you can collect in 32 years. Selling off as much as possible, giving away some and a moving sale or 2 come spring time.

  2. Detroit is not a problem, traffic isn't too bad, just fuel up before you get to Detroit. There are routes that will take you around Detroit proper without adding more than 20 minutes to the trip. If you do come through Detroit give me a heads up before and I'll join you for the ride to Dons.

  3. yamaha logo between the motorcycles and the musical item may appear the same, however there is a slight difference. see if you can figure out what it is .?

and Mitsubishi still makes fuel pumps for yamaha and did make every 1st and 2nd gen pump along with most every street bike pump in the yamaha lineup.

Two differences. Yamaha Motors,The tuning fork points touch the outer ring and the middle leg of the M in YAMAHA is shorter than the outer legs.

    Yes I cheated!

  4. I have no diagnostic suggestions but I've been told by several HVAC tech's to never use ANY type of sandpaper on the thermocouple/ flame sensor, just use a dollar bill to clean them, they are just abrasive enough to to the job without harming the part.

  5. Check anything that can be opened, not only at Wal-Mart. I bought a gallon of antifreeze there one time, got home and when I started pouring I was shocked to find the container was filled with water! [emoji34]

  6. Thanks Chuck,

Yep the Sonic springs are a straight rate spring, if memory serves me they are the 1.2 not 1.5 I'll have to check my files. 15 weight for oil is correct. You will need to get more pvc pipe for spacers because Sonic does not send enough, I used thick wall water well pvc pipe. My fork tubes are slid up in the tree 3/4".

When I rebuilt mine I replaced all the fork bushings and seals, may as well do it all with the amount of work it takes I didn't want to do it twice.

The ride is a little firmer but not harsh by any means. It makes the handling much more precise, no more fading to the outside in long sweeping turns, also turns in better in tight twisties.

I am running a 130 tire up front and a dark side BF Goodrich TA Radial rear. 0 PSI in the forks, 20 PSI in the rear unless towing then I max out the rear air.

I'll post a few pics when I get to my pc.

  7. My son's home is in Havelock, NC and so far he has 1 tree down and some branches down, some of his neighbors weren't so lucky. So far no flooding in his neighborhood.

His father in law is in New Bern about 5 miles west of the downtown area. He has a tree through the roof of the garage and water lapping at the sides of his home but so far no water in the house.

My son and family are here in Detroit riding out the storm . They brought the M.I.L. and niece with them.

We're praying the house sustains no damage or flooding. 2 more days of rain predicted [emoji852]

  8. Sometimes the center connector in a fitting will stick and needs to be freed. Check the ground at the light socket, run a test light from the battery or known power source to the socket jacket, the light should come on, if not, there is a ground problem. If there is no power coming from the bike you need to find out why. Not sure about a 2nd gen, but some systems are fused separately, maybe even have a different flasher.

Are the 4 ways working and does it work with the 4 ways?

The 4 ways flash except for the left rear. Running a desperate ground didn't help.

  9. Start with the simple things....if the lights flash at the normal speed I would rule out the flasher.

    1) Check the bulb. Swap bulbs with the other turn signal - does the problem follow the bulb ? NO

    2) Use a volt meter to see if power is getting to the bulb socket - possible break at the socket Socket checked good from bulb socket to plug behind liscense plate. No voltage on bike side of harness. swapped in a known good flasher under right side cover, no change. Previously mentioned FE246BH only seems to effect hazard blinker.

    3) 2nd Gen the wiring for the lights is under the driver's seat - if you've added other lights check where connections have been made, check voltages. All seem to be good.

Answers to your Q&A are in the quoted text.

  10. My left rear signal light is not flashing, all the others do. This happens weather I am using the turn signal or the hazard flashers. I have followed the troubleshooting flow chart in the factory service manual and it indicates that the flasher relay in the front fairing is bad. I have a hard time believing this since all the other signal bulbs flash at the correct speed , the relay P/N is FE246FE and its only a 2 wire relay that's supposed to control the flash rate.

What are your thoughts on this? Could the relay P/N is FE246FE effect just 1 bulb?

  11. Sounds like the twin to my Laguna. Landed it on the rear bumper and buckled both rear quarters then the front slammed down ànd buckled both front fenders. No tilt a whirl though.

My brother in Law Robbie still has Laguna I believe, that is one cool car seats swivel, so when you launched it thru the drainage ditch did you spin like on a tilt a whirl? Ha just kidding but I love that car too pretty damned cool I believe its white on white with red stripes. 3000 watts of stereo at least it used to anyways.

  12. Don, the picture you posted reminds me of the 74 Chevy Laguna I had, White on white. Was I great car till I ran it through a drainage ditch and launched it like the Duke boy did with many General Lee cars.

The one I'd like to have back though is the 59 Triumph TR3A I had during my last year of high school. It was a fun little car.
