  1. Come on guys, 177 views with 3 replies? Thought everyone was chomping at the bit to go camping? This thread picked up more views after I withdrew it?
  2. Most likely old breaks....You would definitely know it, if you had broken ribs...
  3. Ok, It's been a week now, doesn't appear to be any interest in this so I'm officially withdrawing it...
  4. Be careful at Beartooth and take warm clothing, there will be snow at the top and little surprises in the turns thanks to free ranging.. One of my favorite rides...
  5. Was all clear when I went thru. You probably went thru right after the storm. Woman from Carols told me they had a really bad one go thru last Wednesday. Carols Restaurant by the way is a excellent place to eat. Right before you go into Clay on rt 16S. turn right on to rt 4 go 2 miles located at "Y". Was looking for a mom and pop and their Philly Cheese stake was delicious! Had a few pics but 3.48 MB. need to find simple way to reduce size. Not awake yet. Spoke to a Park ranger. Said Summersville lake is going to be full this Thursday at which time they will open the gates up. Soo... if you intend on fishing the spillway you'd better do it now. This is mind boggeling to me as they have quite a few feet to go before its full. He said multiple rivers run into the lake, all the way from Snowshoe and the lake is 1600' above sea level. Had a wonderful time hiking and fishing the area below dam. Crystal clear water. Going fishing next weekend. going to take camper and do the Cranberry.
  6. As soon as I get this windshield tightened down will be taking off on the midnight. Taking the fishing pole along and proceeding out 39 to Cherry River.... Hoping to catch a few trout for supper...
  7. Suppose to be 80 and sunny tomorrow... Want to check out Battlerun and mountain lake campground. Battlerun sounds pretty interesting as one can dock a boat or jetski nearby. Will ride into Spencer then drop down 16 to Gauley Bridge then 60 to 19. or ride into Spencer then drop down 16 to 39 to 129. Will wing it from there.... Everyone is invited to join in as always. Oooops... fat fingered title... Jones branch road 39 looks promising a loop in the railroad tracks?
  8. Hey Jim, Welcome to the camping section... This is where the fun really is, not motels as Gary mentioned... Although you stated you'd be tent camping, I posted some things you will find useful on camping trips. Main thing is keep these things in one place so you just have to add suitcase and food... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?89815-Things-to-carry-in-a-motorcycle-camper
  9. That's ok guys. I'm going to let this run for a few more days. If there's not enough interest, I will withdraw it.
  10. looking at mountain lake in Summersville http://www.mountainlakecampground.com/lodging/campsites We can get a group rate of $61 per night for 7 people ($8 for each additional person over 7) sites have water and electric with room for 1 camper and several tents...
  11. Had to change dates... How's the 1st , 2nd and 3rd of May for a campout in WV, somewhere south of interstate 79? *** This event has been withdrawn, due to lack of interest ***
  12. The campfire discussions don't require a lottery win...
  13. It's all about the the wind.... I rode my 650 V-star to Eugene Oregon from WV. We traveled the interstates at +70 mph plus doing 500 mile days, and kept up with two Harley ultras. Without a faring, the wind will "definitely" have an impact on ya. Now, cut that back to 55 mph on back roads, doing 300 mile days without a faring, and it's downright enjoyable. None of the rides you mentioned are long distance requiring interstate riding... Think about it.
  14. Hope this finds all well on this Sunny Easter day! Prayers up!
  15. I bought my hunting and fishing license with trout stamp yesterday. I'm ready!
  16. Actually , I couldn't tell you were joking until I seen the comments. You can never tell these days... Hack... Cough... Probably going to be through there about a month early...
  17. Ok ...reality has set in since my last vacation to the Florida keys... Thinking about riding down to Cranberry campground in WV in the next couple weeks. It's off of (19/82/Williams river Rd./101/76) to scout out a possible 3 day weekend outing in April or May... Anyone want to ride along?
  18. I'd get her a bike she likes and can handle easily to learn on. Right now she needs saddle time. My wife still has her 250 V-star. It will do 65 mph. Being she only rides back roads, 55 mph is not a problem. She has no intention to upgrade. Later on, when I get older, I will probably drop back to a 650 or so... (a 300 mile bike) which I will tow to my vacation destinations.
  19. A jet ski is the best thing to own when the weather gets to hot to ride your bike. Let me know if you intend on towing them behind our boat and I'll send you some plans that will keep the skis from hitting the back of your boat.
  20. Even though they're more money. The E3's are also more difficult to spoon off manually because of thicker side wall. Have a guy that will change out tires for me for $10... even though he is 10 miles away, I let him do it...LOL
  21. Heat? probably... Towing trailers, definitely... lol
  22. Have had good luck with 404's. My experience has been that the rear will last last to around 10,000 mi., E3's last longer, I'm thinking 14,000 ? documented in maint. records in garage will have to check. Nice thing about 404's is they DO NOT WINE IN THE TURNS... Nice thing about the E3's they definitely have a thicker side wall and extended range. Although I will still use the 404's on my 650, for the difference in price will stick with the E3"s on the RSV.
