  2. Thanks Don. Works good! From the number of members that have entered their info(15) already, it looks like it's going to be a keeper!
  3. I like banditos remark..."I call bull****. Only a woman could make such a mess with construction materials and a hammer. " BAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! HA! HA! HA!
  4. Dan, that's what I was thinking. It should last 5 or more years with that dielectric grease on it but copper rivets would have been better . Don't think it will get that hot. Carl, fluid film? first I've heard of it... does it harden and provide a moisture barrier?
  5. Had a hard starting 680H Case backhoe that had the starter rebuilt about 10 years ago. This machine sits outside and only has 2-300 hrs. on it since the rebuild. A couple of years ago started having problems with it and had to take it out and clean up to get it to turn over. attributed it to corrosion on end of starter where it bolts to motor . I'd clean it up put back and it would start.... Well... it did it again yesterday. I was working on the bulldozer, fabricating a ROPS for it, and needed to lift the bulldozer to get it leveled. Now that really tee'd me off. I tore the starter apart, it was very apparent what the problem was: 1. On the back side of the main power lugs, was a 1/8" thick piece of insulating material that fell apart. I cut out 5 pieces of gasket material and used form a gasket between each piece. 2. The smaller, bottom side posts were also loose. they were riveted on and the corrosion had eaten the top of the rivet off... I drilled out and inserted new longer rivets. Then drilled new rivets out just to get/obtain the shoulder which I used as a tiny washer on end or rivet. die-electric greased the rivets. Put it back together and it starts like a champ now! As the plate that the wire was soldiered to looked to be copper, am thinking an aluminum rivet probably isn't the best choice?
  6. Don't go there... my moms got me spoiled ... now I drink chocolate milkshakes with my Mc Meal... LOL
  7. Refreshingly, I have yet to meet someone on this site, that participates in such actions...
  8. does it have a trunk? Can't tell from the pics...
  9. Well, you already said the kickstand sustained damage due to the crash. continuing from there... When kickstand hit, it picked the rear wheel up first, continued thru its apex then picked up the front wheel... Due to you quick thinking, to steer right, into the slide, you would have naturally balanced your weight away from the direction of the slide...(otherwise a face plant would have been imminent)... Sounds like that could have been even UGLIER in a high speed left turn...... You got lucky! Any crash you can walk away from...LOL Does remind me though. My brother in laws Harley, doesn't seem to have a problem running with the kickstand down also. Thanks for sharing... Everyone of us can learn from this...
  10. Ain't that the truth! When they pull into the bars, I just keep on riding... There's a time and place for everything...
  11. $18000 for a 9 year old bike and 7 year old trailer? Granted only 22000 mi., but that could be a bad thing... Sitting is harder on a bike than riding it. WOW! Gotta go , going to buy a 2009 trailer and sell em both for the rock bottom price of $24,000.
  12. Kent, Glad to see you back, from your sabbatical... How's that Country living agree in with you? I'm jealous.. Just 5 more years, and, I'm at my farm...
  13. I'm getting old... 32 gig on that????????

  16. Welcome to the forum! It's Great to see a fellow rider... It's quite obvious you've got good taste when it comes to bikes...LOL
  17. freebird ... did you have to pass a user & password in your code to google maps? seems the balloon was there a couple years ago... Suggestions: 1. clean up/delete the old sightings 2. rename "Venture sightings" to "Venture Rider Map"? if we are going to use it this way.
  18. mapfling compared to venture sightings.............hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... I'll take Venturesightings/Venture Rider maps...Don't personally want my info spread to every one on the internet... Would be nice to know, when your traveling, if, there are members in your vicinity.. When I travel, I'm trying to make TIME!... But..................... It would be nice, when one stops for the day, to get a small group of us together, for a meal... Hence the map idea.... ??? or not... It's up to you... Personally, I've found meeting other members of our site, very gratifying....and downright, INTERESTING ! ...LOL Would also be useful if one broke down (not likely for a Second gen) , if only to have a place to safely park their bike, till they could comeback with a trailer. lol... Not to mention the ease of getting instant directions... (well I guess I did mention it)
  19. YIKES!
  20. be nice to use our 2nd gen emotioncons...
  21. just added mine... hummmmmmm... didn't think we needed a google account before? perhaps a freebird question... did you have to pass a user & password in your code? also: may want to clean up/delete the sightings and rename "Venture sightings" to "Venture Rider Map"? if we are going to use it this way.
  22. you've got to be signed onto google login (upper right hand corner)
  23. Believe its a Grate idea, although, I seem to remember we use to have one/someone proposing it before. regardless, a good idea is a good idea...LOL Provided of course: Access to said map restricted to supporting members only The user enters the data. Would probably want to come up with a standard format for entering the data, like: User, real name, complete address, phone, email, assist level? More????
  24. Well done sir...
