  1. I had a Mutazu on my 06 for awhile but recently took it off. Not the highest quality but it worked fine. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0439.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0444.jpg
  2. Hi all. I put a set of Yamaha passing lamps on my 06 RSTD about 3 weeks ago. I have been running with them on all the time in hopes of being more visable on the road. Twice, during daylight hours, I have had cars flash their high beams at me. I believe they think my passing lamps are my high beam lights and I mistakenly have left them on. Do you folks with these lamps leave them on all the time? If so what reactions have you experianced.
  3. I got one!........thanks folks. I new I could rely on this forum.
  4. My 2006 RSTD did not come with a quick detach backrest. I bought it used and the previous owner put a trunk on it. It anyone should happen to have one they want to get rid of I would be interested in puchasing it. Thanks Tarl
  5. Good points that I had not thought of. My whole purpose in this is to get an undistorted view of the road. To that end I have changed my order to get the non recurve shield. Thanks for the helpful info on ths.
  6. I just ordered the same sheild but with the recurve and in clear.
  7. Wow...thanks for all the responses! I guess I have more options than I thought. Cutting the shield down certainly is an option and the clearview shield looks like a great way to go to. The hard part now is to decide which way to go.
  8. The only thing I do not like about my new (to me) 2006 RSTD is the very high windshield. I have always set my shields up so my line of sight is about 2 inches above the plexiglass for an undistorted view. This windshield seems about 5 inches too high for my 5 foot 9 inch frame. Have any of you folks cut down the stock shield? I also found out Yamaha makes a direct replacement unit that is 7 inches shorter....anybody have any experiance with the shorter shield?
  9. Picked up the bike this afternoon. Got about an hour in when a thunderstorm rolled in. Man!!!! It is smoooothhh with lotsa power! http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0440.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0439.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0442.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0443.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0444.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0445.jpg
  10. Well......I just sold the 83 yesterday and bought a 2006 Pearl White Tour Deluxe with alot of after market stuff on it. It only has 21000 kms (about 12000 miles) and has a 2 year warranty still left on her. I'll post some pics when I get it home. It looks alot like the one below but has no driver's backrest. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/2006-royalstar-rightside-2.jpg
  11. Thanks for all the help folks. I'll have a go at it again tomorrow.
  12. I have an 83 VR and tonight I thought I would check the coolant level in the radiator. I can only get the cap undone about 1/3 of a turn. I tried pressing down while turning counter clockwise, but it just won't come off. Am I missing something?
  13. Bought this 83 last November and have put about 600 kms on it since. Other than an oil and filter change, and a right muffler that i replaced due to rust.....its been great. Even the casette player works fine! http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0412.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0408.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0411.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0406.jpg
  14. For my fellow Canadians who are having trouble finding a supplier for Deka and Odyssey batteries up here I'll post a link below to the company in Toronto. This is my first time dealing with them but so far so good. http://motorcycleimpacts.com/Home_Page.html
  15. I ordered a Deka ETX 18L from a supplier up here near Toronto just today. $156 CAN......a bit more pricey up here but I'm sure it will be well worth it. Thanks for the info.
  16. If you enjoy playing online XBox 360 is the way to go. Nothing beats Xbox live for a great online experiance. Remember though that there is a subscription fee of about $60 per year. Also XBox has the best library of games. PS3 is a more versitile machine but online play is not nearly as robust and the game libary not nearly as good.
  17. Hi Folks.....I just got a 83 Venture Royale about a month ago. In the process of putting it up for the winter I removed the battery today. It is a walmart Energizer branded battery with a sensor on it. I have never owned a bike that used one of these sensors before and I have a couple of questions about it. It seems to be part of the battery and I don't want to break it by trying to pull it off....when I replace the battery should it be removed and installed on the new one or does a replacement battery already have one with it? Also can I use a replacement battery without a sensor? I've included a pic below. Thanks in advance..... http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s33/Tarl-Saxon/100_0401.jpg

    How long

I was about 12 when I started riding a 1961 90cc Honda street bike ( Dad bought it) on dirt trails. My first real street bike was a 1970 (if I remember correctly) Kawasaki 350 2 stroker. I'm now 51 and my 83 Venture Royale is the 14th bike I have owned.
  19. We owe so much to those folks. It's nice to see the younger people getting involved in the Rememberance Day activities.
  20. I guess I am spoiled because I live in Canada and we have universal health care. I know there is alot of controversy in the US about health care right now, but I just can not imagine worrying about paying bills for doctor visits, hospital stays and needed operations! The whole idea is so strange to me as I was raised in our system. I wish you all the best of luck and good health and I hope things get better for you folks in the future.
  21. 51 years old.....4 grown daughters and one granddaughter so far......
