  1. That' weird. I've been running my bike (haven't driven it yet), and don't seem to have any indication of problems. I guess I'll have to dig into it a bit to find where the condensor is at and hook it back up (if it's there).
  2. Where can I find the icon that shows what states I've ridden in?
  3. How do we get the service medals added to our profiles?
  4. Thanks. I'm thinking you're right, because there was nothing left to connect to the green connector...and Yamaha usually uses the same color for both ends of a connector. The other connector that I cannot quite figure out is on the left side of the bike, right behind where the regulator rectifier connector sits (the upright support of the frame). Looking at the wiring diagram, the only thing I see that has anything close the same colored wires is a condensor. It has one red wire and one black wire coming to a white connector. I think I saw just a little bit of white on the black wire (not a continuous line, just a single dash). http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b160/warthogcrewchief/100_0806.jpg Does anyone know what it might be?
  5. I'm starting the slow process of reassembly (still waiting to finish paint before installing outer cowlings). The inner cowlings are attached and am slowing going through electrical (radio works, CB has issues)... Anyways, I'm curious about a little green connector on the left forward/upper side of the bike. It has two wires with the connectors that are 90 degrees from each other to form a "T" within the connector. What does this connector connect to? Thanks, WHCC
  6. I'm looking to get two 4" 2-way Force loudspeakers for less than $20. It has a RMS power range of 100 watts and peaks at 200 watts, so if the amp is only really at 10 watt, then these speakers will do just fine. It appears that this speaker will be much more weather resistant then the last set that was in there (paper and foam). I was talking with my father-in-law, who is very knowledgeable about speakers. He said the old school way of determining the speaker rating is to double the amps output (i.e.: 35w amp, 100w peak speaker would suffice as it exceeds the 70w calculation). At that rate, then the "ideal" speaker would be around 20 watts. This speaker has a 20 oz magnet!!!
  7. I'm looking to get a new set of speakers for my bike (Soundstorm F240's) for a great price. They seem to look great, and have great specs regarding what I'm looking for. However, I'm not sure what the output is on the radio amp? I'm gonna guess it's less than 50 watts as most cars in that time period usually had 35 watt amps from the factory. Thanks in advance, WHCC
  8. I'm 29 years old, married over two years, got a 15 month old and one on the way. Been in the Air Force for almost 8 years now. My VR is an '89. When I first got her in July, she looked to be 40 years old...when I'm done, it'll look like it's 5 years old! She's still not put together yet (just a few more things....like paint, tires and brakes). She runs well in her stall, but I can tell she's wanting to hit the open roads (as do I)!
  9. I was gonna say... if someone wants a light in their travel trunk, they should get a 1st gen VR. They also come with a real nice vanity mirror so the passenger can see how bad her helmet hair really is!
  10. How would one remove the splitter and install two new anntenna wires? I've got everything apart right now for my rebuild as I do the body work, so it should be fairly easy as I begin to rebuild everything. Thanks, WHCC
  11. I was looking at my "Yamaha" reflector between the two saddlebag turn lights. I thought that it might be a good addition for another "LED" reflector. First, I have to get my bike road worthy, then I'll look at doing mods (like this LED reflector....perhaps to both of them for EVEN more light!).
  12. I'm looking for the following: I'm rebuilding a 1989 Venture Royale. the (air?) hose that connects between the two forks on top the wiring that goes from the anti-dive controllers (on the bottom of the forks) to the connectors on the wiring harness the driver's backrest assembly (including mounts) lots and lots of plastic (louvers, upper fairings, side covers) windshield (if in good condition) Thanks, warthogcrewchief (aka: Clint)
