Oooh Man!!! I love that area! Picking a great road to ride in that area is literally like a kid in a candy store. They're everywhere.

I totally get it. I kinda miss the Dude. He usually had some cool stuff to read. Plus, he was fun to banter back and forth with.

It just dawned on me that I haven't seen Miles on here for quite sometime now. Where did he go? I see that he isn't on the members list either. I think I do remember that he sold his RSTD, but did he just bail out after that? Justr wondering.

Colorado is one of my favorite places on earth to ride. That would be nice

Isn't it Guntersville, not Gunthersville?
-
I'm guessing to drive us crazy.

What is really gonna happen if they come out with a water cooled motor that functions well and is durable is that every other manufacturer is gonna poop in their pants. People will be jumping to Harley in droves.

Yep, it's an awesome addition. I have one on my 2007 RSTD and I use it on a regular basis. I kinda choked a little on the price when I first looked at them, but now that I've experienced the benefits of having it, I would gladly pay the money again if I had a bike without one. My advise is "get on the list".

Okay. I'm with ya on that one. 18 times is a lot. Especially for my A.D.D. brain. I would've been bored with it after about 17 times. Can't believe you pushed it to 18. NW Arkansas is certainly a great place to have a rally late in the year. Usually perfect weather, and some of the best riding in the middle section of the country. You made the right choice.

Wait a minute......You turned down Sturgis for BBB? Hmmm.....Wow! I live in this beautiful state called Arkansas, and I go to BBB every year, but I gotta tell ya........It Ain't No Sturgis. BBB is a great rally that has multiple events spread across 3 cities, and some very nice day rides out from the rally. It says it gets 300K+ attendance every year, but its really like 100K. I used to think it was a big time rally until I went this year to Daytona Bike Week. Holy Crap!. Now THAT is a big time rally. Maybe I'll catch up to ya this year.

Don, just a thought. Doesn't pulling a trailer void the warranty on that beautiful new ride? Might wanna hide that trailer hitch if you hafta take it in for service. Congrats. It's beautiful.

Ahhh, Okay. I get it now. After reading a couple of your experiences I now understand why you would want that extra amount of fuel. I ride 2 up 90% of the time, and after 150-160 miles my wife is always ready to step off of the bike for a few minutes, so it only makes sense that I fill up at that time. Heck, sometimes we'll stop at 100 miles. We did a two weeker last September across Oklahoma, panhandle of TX, in northern NM, southern CO, southern UT, and northern AZ, and never really had an episode where I was truly concerned about running out of gas because we were hitting decent sized towns with multiple stations on a regular clip. Obviuosly you guys are riding in way more remote areas than we have been, and certainly are putting in longer mileage days than we usually put in. A long day for us is 600-700 miles, and usually only put in 200-300 when we're sight seeing and visiting parks and such. We're gonna head to the Texas hill country in October, I hear you can run out of gas in some of those areas if you dont watch it. Maybe I'll think about punching my tank. LOL.

Okay.....I've gotta ask this question (with a very wide grin and sarcasm dripping). What the????? I can't figure out in my feeble mind why go through all that ruckus for a few more (18) miles? If this is done for long trip purposes, why not just route plan better so you won't be begging for a gas station. Or top off when you see one if your riding out in the middle of nowhere? Just wondering.

Rear fender luggage rack
BigLenny replied to 3pettz's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Rear fender rack? Are you talking about something other than the luggage rack? -
Hey Chris, Welcome to this wonderful site. Hang in there with your bike. The advice on this site will usually help you get the answers you need. Don't assume your dealership is totally competent, especially if they are a multiline store. The cool thing about this site is we are for the most part honed in on the RSTD and the RSV, so little quirks like what you're experiencing can be helped by the advice from loads of experience of the people here. The RSTD and RSV are wonderful bikes that, because of the 4 banger motor, are second to non in quality and longevity.

Awww, Man! That sounds like something I would do. We never stop learning lessons, do we?

Hmmm. Ive always heard that Iceland is green, but Greenland is icey. Is that true? LOL.

Now that, is an awesome statement. But, errrr, what if your not intelligent? LOL.

I read in Rider Magazine that the main reason Harley is stopping mfg of the Road Glide and doing a redesign is because of a pissing match they're having over the fairing with Eric Buell. Apparently Buell designed that fixed fairing for the Road Glide while he was married to Harley, and now he is wanting a large sum of money for every fairing they sell. Harley is going to redesign it with a new fairing so they don't have to pay him. Also, there is a huge rumor that the new Road Glide is going to be water cooled. If they do that, there'll be a sea of folks leaving there current brands and buying that bike. IMO. We just hosted our annual family 4th of July gathering two weekends ago, and my cousin and his wife brought their Road Glide. I took it for a ride, and besides the fact that it shook like a mofo while idling, the thing was really nice. Smooth as glass on the freeway.

Raising the bars is the first thing I did to my RSTD the first week after I bought it new 5 years ago. I'm 6'6" and the stock position didn't work on slow speed turns. Kept hitting my knee.

AWESOME!!! So happy for you!! As for the weight, If you have a smart phone, download the MyFitnessPal app and utilize it. I started my weight loss plan on April 3rd using this app and as of this mornings weigh-in, I'm down 33lbs. I have another 27 to go. You can do it.

Thanks Don, I think I'll like that better.

RSTD, Extra Storage Space
BigLenny replied to GeorgeS's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That's pretty dang cool looking! Awesome job! On a long trip, I always use that area to hang a soft bag full of our extra shoes. Pretty good space under there. Just another reason why I'm confused about trading my RSTD for a Venture. That area under the rack, plus my huge Saddleman t-bag, plus a roll bag on top holds way more stuff than a trunk with a bag on it. -
I'm so sad to hear of the passing of Gunboat. I never had the honor of meeting him, but had corrosponded with him on more than one occation over the years. It's very obvious from reading the posts of folks that knew him, I missed out on meeting a wonderful man. I am praying for his family.

It's funny you say that. Just a couple nights ago, I was looking at the forum here and my wife walked by and said, "are you sure that's not some kind of motorcycle cult you're a member of there? You sure spend a lotta time looking at that site?" She was joking of course, but I did admit to her that I have an addiction to this site, and I could never leave it. LOL.
