  1. I have received nothing but taking a hint I tried to find when my membership expires. It's probably in bright bold letters somewhere but I did not find it. How do we see our membership expiration date?
  2. My 2009 Venture audio system is the only thing on the bike that ever caused problems. I have documented them several times on here and a couple of other forums. My bottom line: After a number of dealer visits, a complete control head (on the left handlebar) replacement and still no fix I had about given up on rectifying the problem. When I had the Venture "triked" with a Hannigan trike kit the problem got solved. It seems that the Hannigan installer (Volunteer Cycles and Trikes in Sevierville, TN) had the fairing apart to do some of the wiring additions he found that most of the connections were badly corroded, some were simply bare wires twisted together and some were brushing against metal parts. He opened, cleaned, reconnected all those wires/connections and it's worked great ever since. Before doing anything $$$ you might want to split the fairing and take a really good look at the wiring and connections.
  3. I don't see a link or a photo. I think I can feel Eck's hands pulling our leg!!
  4. Interesting item and I like it but.... I don't see it as quick disconnect. It looks like you have to remove all the controls, grips etc to get the brackets on the bars. What is the diameter of the cross piece?
  5. Lots (LOTS !) of RPG's/shooters on the PC. Just finished Far Cry 4 (twice) Have Dragon Age Inquistion waiting to be installed. The wife and I also play Golf on the PS3. If they ever come out with a golf game on the PS4 I'll trade the PS3 in on one. Still installed on my PC and all are in some state of completion: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl The Witcher II Risen III BioShock Infinite Balders Gate Enhanced Far Cry (still playing it years later!) Far Cry 3 and I still find time to put lots of miles on the trike. Living in east Tennessee just minutes from some really terrific roads I hear the trike calling often "Let's go, let's go".
  6. I'm another Garmin 765 user. I made a "rain shield" for it from a $2.49 index card box. The auxiliary is the audio mini jack behind the cassette door. I don't use the traffic feature on the GPS since it is about as useless as airbrakes on a turtle. Those units designed for motorcycles are nice, but WAY!! over priced. Tom Tom has one that while still less expensive is also a bit too $$$.
  7. Condolences and sympathies to the family and to yourself. I have not had a PGR mission for a known friend but it will come I'm sure.
  8. alwrmcusn alw = my initials rmc = my U.S. Navy rate and rating usn = my military branch (I probably should add "ret" for retired)
  9. I usually turn mine to the left (before and after I "triked" it) but depending on the parking ground contours I sometimes turn it to the right. My 2009 RSV has locking on both the left and right steering locks.
  10. Hey, it looks great. Colorful!!
  11. OK, tried reseating with no luck. My dealer (Ed's Cycles in Cleveland, TN) ordered the part(s) and is going to replace it on Saturday. Greg says it's about a 20-30 minute job.
  12. Thanks Bongobobny, I'll give that a check before I start mortgaging the house to have the dealer do a repair
  13. The fuel gauge display on my 2009 Venture has been very erratic for the past couple of weeks. If I fill the tank it (usually) registers full but then drops to empty. As I ride it moves up a bit, down a bit in a rather random fashion. These are not sudden drops/rises but rather it will go from Full to Empty in 2-5 seconds. I've been relying on the trip meters to keep track of my fuel needs. I am assuming that this is likely a sensor problem. Anyone know if it is a "user" repair/replacement and if so how much $$$ to purchase? Or better yet, how much a dealer might charge (I ain't mechanical!!)?
  14. I was stationed with VP-30 in Jacksonville, FL and while I was not a member of the aviation community per se, I did get to fly a number of times on the P-3 Orion. Like many people I assumed that if you're flying then you have that sensation of "flying"....speed, slicing through the sky etc. But I found that standing in the cockpit behind the flight engineer looking through the windshield that there was no sensation of speed. We just seemed to be floating along until we entered a cloud and you saw the speed effect as you moved past. I found it rather boring actually. You need more than just speed in order to recognize that you are moving fast. But...when I'm cruising along on the Venture, I get that sensation that I thought I would get in the P-3..."flying", speed and myself as the "Pilot". So riding the bike (trike in my case) is about as close to flying as I'll ever really get. Plus don't we all love to just cruise along, watching the "cagers" and knowing that unless they also ride they will NEVER know the feeling that you have every time you straddle the saddle and push the button.
  15. Sailor: Are you sure it was STAR (Star Touring and Riding) because the Venture certainly is a STAR product. Also STAR does not care what brand of machine you ride.
  16. How many Venture Rider members are also STAR members?
  17. I resize photos that I post to Facebook and other online site to 800X600. 640X480 also work well for transmission. And your computer should certainly be capable of showing those photos full size. Usually the limit is your ISP's limit on email size.
  18. I'll take a look in our local Ace/Lowes/Home Depots.
  19. Mine are in need of replacing also (Hannigan trike). Where do we find them or a substitute??
  20. I just this week had a "Hijacker" on the computer. Spent a day trying to remove it and then decided to do a complete reformat and install. Takes some time to do, mainly installing all the drivers/updates and software but it does clear everything up.
  21. We're not all BIG We're not all FAT We're not all UGLY but that don't mean we ain't tryin'!!
  22. bongobobny: Do you have photos/how to/part numbers for that setup?
