  1. I disconnected my CD changer, gave it to a friend and tucked the cable away way before I had my Venture "triked". I use an MP3 (iPod and/or Sony) via the AUX plug. Way smaller, LOTS more music. I even drilled a small hole (very carefully to ensure it was lined up properly) thru the cassette player door to plug in the cable.
  2. Hey Larry.....I do live in the south and you're aiming right at the bullseye (smile). I was riding up a four lane road from Spring City to home in Rockwood, TN just a few days ago. An Ideal Plumbing Company truck was behind me for about 7 or 8 miles. I was in the right lane and he was in the left. We stayed that way for that 7 miles or so. When I got to my turn (to the right of course!) as I made the turn I hear this loud horn blast. The plumbing truck had taken that opportunity to switch lanes and of course....no right turn signal from me.
  3. Pulled the housing apart, nothing that I can see broken but its sort of a non-user repairable unit. I guess its dealer bound!
  4. I'm gonna take my nerves to the next level, and try to open up that switch housing and take a look. Wish me luck! I'm guessing there are 40 miles of wires and contacts in that housing!
  5. I guess no one knows where to check ground? What to look for? etc.??
  6. I am not versed in bike wiring harnesses, where would I check that? Specifics would be helpful for me. Thanks
  7. My Doofus moment(s) When I'm wearing heavier cold weather gloves, accidentally brushing the kill switch to the off position. It's especially fun when you're in the middle of a tight low speed turn like at a stop sign/red light! Having the Venture "triked" helped but it's still embarrassing and I usually have no idea that's what happened for about 10-15 seconds while my itty bitty mind races thru possible causes.
  8. Is that a relay or whatever for the turn signals like in a car? Might that be the problem? I checked the service manual and it shows a flasher relay.
  9. That is my thinking also. Really need to get it sorted out. I really dread opening that switch housing up to check it though.
  10. I replaced the bulb (it did have a filament break). However that did not fix the turn signal problem. The four way flasher works, the "running" lights work, the left turn signal works. The right turn signal still does not work, front or back. Anyone have any suggestions/things to look for or check?
  11. Thanks Du-Ron, I just figured that out myself. Noted that you have to push hard enough to fear busting the bulb and having the shattered bits embed themselves in your fingers! (smile)
  12. Yesterday during the Veterans Day parade I noticed my right turn signal was not working. How do you remove the bulb from the front turn signal? I have removed the clear lens and tried to twist the bulb, I also tried to simply pull it and it doesn't budge. I removed the tiny little metal piece that straddles the rubber housing and tried again. Still no luck. I don't want to break the glass off and leave the base. What do I need to do to remove the bulb? 2009 RSV triked.
  13. Had a small unit about 10 years ago after I retired. Expensive to buy, expensive to maintain, expensive to use (campgrounds/services), requires towing a second unit to move about at each destination. Sold it and we travel by car or trike and stay in motels/hotels. For those who have them and enjoy them, great. We found it was just more trouble by far than it was worth.
  14. Added thought: Some of that low speed shake may be due to the front tire being low air pressure and/or in need of replacement. Check the steering head and ensure it is properly snugged down. My low speed shake (only about 2-3mph to about 10mph) disappeared when I replaced the front tire. I can't be sure if it helped but at the same time I managed to tighten that nut on the triple tree.
  15. The fuel flow is the same speed idling or riding. If you are idling you can remove the main gas cap and watch to ensure you do not overfill.
  16. Hannah and I bought two Bell Mag 9's with the Sena mike adapters at Motorcycle Superstore in Louisville, KY this year. We were attending the STAR B-Q. We already had the Sena communicators. The helmets fit great, the Sena is an excellent communicator and that it fits perfectly in the Mag 9 was the selling point.
  17. When you get to the SP aren't you supposed to use the UP/DOWN to toggle, or have you tried that? I never use the radio or the CB and we use Bluetooth communicators so I have left mine on AUX for about 4 years and just use it to play an MP3 device.
  18. We dine there each time we are in MV. The last time there we tried the chocolate vinegar pie....sounds iffy but tastes great. The waitress even gave us the recipe for it!
  19. Sounds a lot like my mechanical abilities. I have a friend who can do it all. I call on him, we get together and he directs while I do the job and learn at the same time. I was really surprised at how easy brake pads are changed. Just have to make REALLY sure you put them in correctly. Took less than 30 minutes for me while Mike checked everything to make sure they did what they are supposed to! (smile)
  20. My Hannigan aux tank switch is mounted on the tank left side next to the ignition cover. (I put it there). I leave my petcock in the ON position all the time. When my fuel gauge starts show the F and mileage count, I press the switch and it begins pumping from the aux to the main. Takes about 5-10 minutes. WATCH YOUR FUEL GAUGE!!! I have forgotten it a couple of times and it overflowed gas down the tank saturating my crotch (yucckkkkk!). What I normally do is place my left hand over the switch to remind me to keep an eye on it. A couple of overflows into your Levi's halfway thru a ride is not all that pleasant. It does provide my riding buddies with a bit of gleeful conversation during lunch however.
  21. Posted about the problems, the cost, searching for a replacement etc, but did not ask about a fix. None of the replies suggested a possible fix. That's ok however, it's done.
  22. Been awhile since I've considered this. Does anyone know of a short replacement antenna for the RSV (mine is a 2009). I would like to replace the long whips with a much shorter pair of antenna. I do not use the CB or the AM/FM but I would like to have replacements that would work if absolutely needed. In the past the replacements I have found have all been the wrong thread size for the OEM mount.
  23. I have used automotive GPS units on my bike/trike for several years. I use a Ram mount with a home made rain cover. The cover is made from a plastic index card box about $3. Just bought a new Garmin 52LM at the Fort Jackson PX for $69 and I can actually see it in the daylight!. I also used a ziplock bag as a rain cover for a few years...cheap easy and see through!
  24. Hey! I just replaced the fuel pump on my '09 RSV ($333.99!!). No one mentioned that it could be repaired!
