  1. That would most likely be because the battery acid level sensor (the probe that went in one of the middle battery caps) isn't installed any more. If your new battery is a sealed unit you don't need it any more. Here's how to get the light to be off... Buy or acquire a resistor with a value of between 1000 ohms and 4000 ohms. Connect the wire going to the probe to one end of the resistor and insulate it. Connect the other end of the resistor to the accessory line somewhere, probably best on the fuse block, look for an accessory connection or hook up to the "blue line" for the lights. You could also connect it directly to the battery plus terminal but then it would be drawing a small amount of current all the time, and after a few weeks unattended your battery would wear down. The battery symbol and flashing red light should go out... DO NOT connect the probe directly to 12 volts, you may burn out your CMS!!! The resistor is needed as the circuit IC is looking for around 5 to 8 volts logic level voltage...
  2. Works for me! We will be in my 2011 Diamond White Malibu LTZ with the NY plates...
  3. I think somebody mentioned between 12 and 1, 1:00 would probably be best, it would be at the tail end of the lunch crowd. Maybe somebody should call and make reservations???
  4. Actually the Gold dots are better (aluminum pistons) than the blue dots (steel pistons) but either one is a good investment and a direct bolt on... $150, you done good!!
  5. Yup!! I'm tellin' ya, mankind is doomed!! The stupid gene is attacking in droves...
  6. Just make sure you don't try to start bike in gear with the clutch switch jumpered...
  7. Yes, I'm talking about my old '84. Yes, the '09 has both too!! Yes, we are talking passenger. I also installed aftermarket floorboards for driver on the '84, and had highway pegs...
  8. OK on the early Ventures, specifically the 83 and some of the 84's there was a known issue of the stator NOT getting sufficient oil on them for cooling. This was corrected with a "Kit" that was made available by Yamaha in conjunction with a TSM about the issue. Most bikes were fixed under a recall/warranty but there may be a few out there that do not have this installation. From what I remember the kit consisted of a pin and a washer affair to "sling" more oil on the stator. I seem to remember reading a long time ago about someone else drilling the hole out a little...
  9. A looooong time ago, with pictures. The needed threaded holes already exist on the MK1. You just have to fabricate a bracket out of a flat piece of metal to hang the muffler from where the subframe bolts on, to the mounting bracket for the muffler. You need to buy two small 8mm bolts for two of the three mounting holes (the smaller holes), and reuse the big spacer and bolt from the MK1 footpeg mounting bracket, and a big fender washer to keep the spacer in place. For the footpegs I just drilled holes in the front top corner of the MK2 passenger floorboard assembly and bolted them on. I did make up several of those muffler brackets up and gave them away to several members waaay back before '09, and posted the pictures in a thread, but unfortunately that thread was never put in the technical library. Just buy a pair of MK2 boards, and unbolt the MK1 pieces, and I'm sure you can figure it out, or if you get stuck PM me and I will try to find the original pictures, but I will have to look through literally tens of thousands of pictures...
  10. Yes, changing leg/foot position is extremely important for long distances. On my '84 I did a little modification and installed passenger floorboards off of a MK2 ('86 - '93) and also added a pair of folding highway pegs so that my wife could change her position. I also had arm rests installed and the trunk was moved back a couple of inches via extender bars. She rode like a queen!!! Finishing touches were a decent sized cup holder and a pouch for personal items...
  11. Here's the menu for Sunday's luncheon... http://www.primantibros.com/resources/images/pdf/menu-regional-taylor-novi.pdf

  14. Once you do the initial paperwork to link your account to your bank, there virtually is none! They have a computer you just put your ID card into and tap the screen a couple of times and magically the money is in your bank account almost immediately...
  15. Uhhhh,talk to Carbon_One about that, or B2Dad, or?
  16. Skydoc_17 should supply you with most if not all of your needs. My feeling, well, if you are going to rebuild, why not go all the way?!!? Go with new /rebuilt R1/R6 front calipers. Do not do excessive upgrades on rears as they already have a tendency to lock up. With the R1/R6 also install a 14mm master cylinder to make the upgrade effective. Do some searching on this site for additional information, but we are glad to offer you help and info as needed... Clutch lines, 1 of them, just from the MC to the steel line from what I remember.
  17. Yah!! I get paid almost thirty bucks each time I go to the VA in Buffalo (about 40 miles) and almost ten bucks to go to the clinic in Springville (less than 15 miles). Keep in mind they pay you for round trip too!! For Buffalo they give me the equivalent of a tank of gas and I use up less than 1/4 tank...
  18. Ya know, this may come as a surprise to some people, but I support the RIGHT to choose whether or not you wear a helmet, the same as your right to choose to wear a seatbelt!!!!! That being said, it is a FOOL who chooses do do neither!!! If you're to stupid to wear a helmet (or a seatbelt in a cage) then you deserve to suffer the consequences...
  19. This should point you in the right direction. Read all of the thread, there is a couple other links, one being a great pictorial on the repair as well as some other things you may want to consider while the engine is out... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?2922-2nd-gear-tech-bulletin
  20. Yah!! Tons of drugs!! Type 2 diabetes sucks!!! Yes, I see both Civilian and VA doctors, sometimes wonder which ones are more incompetent...
  21. Uhhhh, sooo you are trying to relate Christianity with Paganism???? Really??? Sorry, no Biblical evidence or commandments to observe it, actually quite the contrary. Not wanting to start any debate, you believe what you want, it's a free country.
  22. Hey, it's the Watering Hole, anything goes except Sex, Religion or Politics... Cobwebs, lots of cobwebs, and bats, witches hats, carved pumpkins, etc. I guess. Don't know, we here at our house do not celebrate Satanic holidays...
  23. Hmmmm, why I did not buy a Harley... I don't stop at every bar I wanted a bike to last more than 30,000 miles before a major overhaul I don't like replacing parts that fall off I have a nice clean cement driveway, don't like oil stains Don't need a full body massage at every stop light Plus the reasons you said...
  24. Yup! Most likely looking for kidney disease! With kidney disease you pass more sugar and proteins than normal. Plus, you ARE a Vietnam vet, and Type 2 diabetes is linked to exposure to agent orange. Did they take a blood sample as well?? Also, PTSD does many many times use to drug use, and suicide. If they were looking for possible drug use it's only because they are trying to save lives, not convict them...
  25. Well golly, I guess we can bed there!
