  1. Ummmm, Trials and Tribulations?"
  2. Yup!! My bad...
  3. Nope, I may do a quick install tomorrow and try to salvage the last few good days we have coming. Maybe I'll trigger the relay off the acc position and add a toggle switch, hidden of course...
  4. Went over to do Trunk or Treat this evening, and when it was time to go home I suffered the dreaded 2nd Gen ignition failure!!! Luckily after wiggling, it finally connected and I made it home, but even with the slightest jarring the key switch fails. Oh well, time to put it away for the winter anyway, but it's suppose to be around the 70's this week...
  5. Yes, that issue was with the '83 only. It was corrected with the '84 on up...
  6. Go to Auto Zone for your AGM battery. number EXT20L, or contact member Skydoc_17, Earl is a DEKA dealer and will give you a great price shipped to your door...
  7. Yah!! Almost sounds like you accidentally clicked onto one of those bogus windows update pages...
  8. Yah! it is sort of suspended there, sort of wedges itself in place...
  9. The "trick" is bleeding it! What you do is find a block of wood or something that will fit between the pads. then with the caliper unbolted position the bleeder so that is at the top in the highest position, then bleed as normal...
  10. Got home about a half hour ago, smooth trip! Was great seeing you guys, wish more could have made it...
  11. Yes, that heat shield will help direct airflow through the radiator from what I remember,as well as keeping water out of the spark plug area from the front tire. One known fact is that on the MK1, the temp gauge normally reads high. Also, if your carbs are not sync'ed it will run hotter...
  12. Yup!! Looking forward to it!! We changed our plans and are heading home after lunch...
  13. Yup!! What Steve said, betcha the switch is on headphones...
  14. Stop going to THAT dealer, and warn others...
  15. Yes, they are also referred to as "Switchblade" pegs...
  16. Yes the Polaras Slingshot looks like a wild sports car, it has a steering wheel and you set side by side like a car. The Elio Motors 3 wheeler is more like a motorcycle with one setting behind the other. The Elio is just getting underway with production. There are a couple of Chevy powered trikes out there, The Boss Hog, the Cheetah, and the one that looks like a Model T whose name is escaping me at present...
  17. They are the same, that is what the "GM" in AGM stands for, Glass Matt. As far as the resistors, no, they do not burn out, there is very little current going through them. A standard 1/4 or 1/2 watt resistor is all you need, they only draw a few milliamps...
  18. Well, you may or may not have spent too much. IMHO the way you describe it true 1500 or less may have been more appropriate. Question 1. Was the bike running when purchased?? What symptoms are you experiencing with the carbs? Maybe all they need is a good dose of seafoam or possibly a cleaning technique known as "shotgunning" the carbs. Also inspect the rubber diaphragms for pinholes and replace as needed. The carbs do not need to come out to do this. Question 2. What makes you think you have to replace the starter?? It is a known issue with the stock 2 brush starter that they turn over slow, but upgrading the battery cables is an improvement. Currently Yamagrl is making up a run of replacement cables, you might want to get in touch with Heather. If you replace the starter get a 4 brush starter out of a 2nd gen Venture, they bolt right up. Also if you replace the battery, spring the extra bucks and get an AGM battery. tioons here on site to bypass the battery acid level sensor so the light goes out and the battery icon. Question 3. just what kind of damage did you find? Broken tabs on the fairing? That is unfortunately kind of normal whether or not the bike got dropped. Rashed up crash bars?? What damage did you find??
  19. Then it was a Standard, not a Royale Mike, unless somebody added the CLASS and Audio. CB was optional for the Royale on the MK1, CB was standard on the Royale for the MK2, they discontinued the Standard in either 88 or 89 , forgot which year...
  20. Maybe you are thinking of the Slingshot? Maybe the Elio?
  21. Welcome aboard!! Heck, at 69 I have now spent probably close to Ten Grand on my '84 Royale because I love it that much!! Got over 5 Grand in the motor, a 1300 with VMAX heads built by PCW racing. Everything brand new mechanically. Originally bought it in '04 with around 8K on the clock for $2700. Little confused with the '84 that you state was a Royale, I thought the Burgundy was the Standard and the Gold was the Royale. Love the "tuxedo" '86, we have a member here who bought his new and went on his honeymoon on it, and still has it! That was IMHO one of the nicest color combinations made, next to the '83/'84 gold... You have a nice collection of rides there! I can only hope to be alive in 20 years, much less still riding but I am a Vietnam veteran with agent orange related type 2 diabetes and in stage 3 kidney disease...
  22. Reverse is overrated!! Hell, I've got around $ 34K in mine with the cost of the bike new and the conversion plus a LOT of chrome bling, etc. Offhand I'd say that's not a bad price, offer $14K and steal it!!

    Why?

Why so we stupidly keep this thread going?? WHY???
  24. I HATE yappy little rat dogs...
  25. For most purposes there is nothing fancy about the "official" Yamaha bolts other than the price. They are standard metric bolts, the most common being 8mm of various lengths. Just go to your local Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Fastenall etc. for bolts! There are only a couple of specialty bolts with specific collars on them for the whole bike. If you watch ebay, every once in a while somebody is selling a whole box of bolts from a Venture...
