  1. Me too, brother, me too!! 101st Airborne Jul 69 to Jun 70. I'm too old to set in the mud and smoke pot any more...
  2. Don, you got the deal of the century on yours...
  3. That is an absolute Bummer!! So glad you were wearing the right gear and walked away from it! Unfortunately, as already brought out, the insurance company will total it and you won't get much money for it because of its age. Try to get salvage rights for it and either fix it yourself or part it out and make your money back that way...
  4. Marcarl and Saddlebum ventured south from the frozen Great White North and dropped in to say hello! We had a wonderful time of fellowship and I certainly enjoyed their company! This is yet another example of how this website is more than a site, it is a family where we all care about the well being of each other!! Thanks for stopping by, guys, it really meant a lot to me!!!
  5. Just want to give you folks a little update. After taking the chemotherapy pills for a little over a week my Heomtologist called me and said stop taking them, I don't have the curable type of leukemia that she thought I had. I saw her this week and she said something about it being some type of chronic extra chromosome form of leukemia and the VA can't really do much about it, so they are referring me to an outside Onocologist and are referring me to a local nationally known cancer research institute, Roswell Park Institute. I still have not met with the Pulmonary team about my lungs yet. That is happening in a couple of weeks. I get very short of breath easily these days, but I am not letting it get me down. I am planning on staying alive for a long time yet and am looking forward to attending M&E's such as MD, the regional in Virginia, etc. I'm not quite ready to sell the trike yet and plan on riding for a few more years. The only thing that is discouraging me is the VA health care system... Many, many thanks for all the prayers and words of encouragement, I value it very highly!!!
  6. Fresh from the kitchen, made with Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum!! The hard part is letting them age for a couple of days...
  7. Well, it lasted a little while at least!! I agree with everyone else, a new R/R should fix you up, your stator is most likely good as it is giving you voltage to the regulator...
  8. I gave up at 65 six years ago! It's a great life!!!
  9. Here's the link to the calendar so you guys can sign up!!! https://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=511&day=2019-8-15&c=1
  10. What is the country of manufacture?? There's an old saying attributed to John Arbuckle, you get what you pay for...
  11. Before you tighten that set screw on the CB, put an SWR meter on it and tune the antenna length for the best transmitting performance...
  12. I KNEW I could count on you prayer warriors here!!! Tomorrow I have some testing to see what the issue is with the nodes on my lungs. They have actually been there for a couple of years now, but for the last half year, I have been very short of breath. I'll know more hopefully by the end of this week. So far the only side effects of the chemotherapy pills I am taking is I am tired especially in the evening, and my stomach sometimes feels queasy. Other than that I'm just taking it day by day. Actually, I am looking forward to next year's Maintenance Day if Don has one, and the Virginia M&E.
  13. Last Wednesday I was diagnosed with Leukemia, but it is a curable or at least controllable form of the disease. I am taking pills which are a form of mild chemotherapy. I also have some issues with my lungs that they are looking at this week. It hasn't got me down yet, but I also have to realize I'm no spring chicken either. There are several people around me that count on me for many things so I'm not ready to die yet! So I will appreciate all the prayers I can get!
  14. Barry, you have been one of the most enjoyable people to meet here on this site! I hope life takes you on many enjoyable adventures! I too will miss your presence here and wish you would reconsider sticking around. You are right, this is not just a website, it is family!!!
  15. Most of us prefer round tires, the square ones don't work out very well...
  16. I was looking at the picture of that new one and noticed it seems to have a busted fin... Sorry, many years ago I had a few of them but not anymore. I have seen people glue a plastic box inside there to hold sunglasses, etc. Those vents didn't do much...
  17. I haven't done a model car since around '60 or '61... Maybe I'll get back into it sometime. Of course, I WAS into RC cars in the early '80s and never finished a Suburu Brat body for my Taymia Frog...
  18. I remember using tinfoil for chrome and thread for spark plug wires...
  19. OK, here's what happened when I had the melted starting circuit cut-off relay issue. When the relay fell off the mount and laid on the engine it took a while for the engine heat to melt the plastic cover. From what I remember, and it all happened in one day, first I had the two red lights come on so I checked the oil level and added antifreeze. The next thing that happened was the automatic start with the key on! Went to troubleshoot that issue but what was happening at that point was as the engine cooled, the issue went away, but as soon as the bike warmed up again it occurred again! What was happening, as close as I could figure out, was when the engine heated up the contacts across the starting circuit cut-off relay were being shorted to ground which made both the oil level and the overtemperature lights to turn on and it put a ground onto the starter solenoid via the blue line. I didn't take the time to actually totally troubleshoot the exact cause, for when I went to check the connector on the SCCOR that's when I found it to be a melted mess laying on the engine. A brand new SCCOR fixed all of the problems! So, in your case, because your relay was still where it is supposed to be, you may have other issues associated with the problem. The first thing I would look at is with the key off see if there is a ground all of the time on the blue wire going to the starter solenoid. If so then the issue is somewhere with the blue wire being shorted from the Start circuit relay to the solenoid. If there is no ground there with the key off, then the next thing to look at is the start switch. There should be an open to ground on the blue/white wire (with the key off) and a short to ground when you press the start switch. If there is a ground at all times then the issue is probably your start switch is shorted...
  20. OK, the radio/cassette decks are the same for the MK1 and the MK2. The CLASS controller and the CLASS unit (located under the trunk) are the same. The CB units for the MK1 and MK2 are different and not really compatible...
  21. Randy, the VA will also pay for the injectable Victoza as of about a year ago. Yeah I know, yet another shot a day, but it does help keep us regulated. Without VA approval it was costing me $10 a day, but now it's free thanks to being 100% disabled. Is the Dexcom G6 capable of having the readings downloaded or have the readings printed out so that the endocrinologist has the information?? As I look at my fingertips they are loaded with little black dots from jabbing them 4 times a day...
  22. Just found this video on Facebook posted in the Society Of Grey Beard Biker's page. The story is great as is, but there is a couple of 1st gen Ventures in it as well!! Hope this link works...
