  3. Star, It depends on the type of riding you do also I have Bubs on mine, and yes the end caps flaked, and I painted them flat black, and love it. Around town, I love the sound. They have a nice deep rumble, but do open up when your on the throttle. On some of my other bikes, the mufflers would get quieter at highway speeds, but with the Bubs, they really don't. I found by wearing ear plugs on long rides ( 200-300 miles per day) help. Anything less then 200 miles, they don;t bother me, but when I'm on the bike all day it gets to me. My VYX had Bubs also, and that were really loud. Then I put V&H big shots on my VTX, and rode 13 hours from Florida to Alabama, with a half helmet on, no ear plugs, and yes, I took aspirin all day I've heard 6 different pipes on the RSV, and my personal opinion is, I bought the Bubs, because they weren't to loud, where you couldn't hear the radio or the passenger etc, but they gave the bike a nice deep rumble FYI, you can get a pair of HD mufflers off any HD touring bike, and with the brackets they sell on here for around $45.00 bolt them up. I found they also sounded really good for allot let $$$. FYI, stay away from HD's screaming eagles, as they are loud If you do allot of smaller rides ( less then 100 miles ) on the weekends, with a trip maybe once a month or so, doing longer rides, I think the Bubs sounds the best for all around If you do a ton of highway driving, commuting, etc, and ride allot of longer rides, I would go with HD's mufflers, as they have a lower rumble on the RSV, and don't bark as much I only had to turn the radio up a notch or two, and can talk to my wife all day with no problems with the Bubs. Another consideration is if you wear a half helmet, or 3/4, or full, as that will also help with the sound. We wear half helmets 80% of the year, being we live in FL On the longer trips, 200 miles + in a day, I always wear the 3/4 helmet with the face shield, to help buffer the Bubs, and have no complaints from my wife Me personally, I love LOUD pipes, but my wife hates them. For us, the Bubs were a good comprise. She never complains about them. Only once after riding 500+ miles in a day, she said her ears rang Little No regetting, there slip on mufflers, allot of times you only need to rejet when you change the entire exhaust system.   5. PS, right now I'm running the C/T in the rear, and the stock bias in the front. I can ride down the highway at 70mph with one hand on the bars, cruise control set, wife on the back, and bikes stays pin straight, and rides beautiful To answere your question, yes you can run the radial with the bias
  6. Crockettrider, to answere your question, The Kumho is a radial tire. Everything I have read in the past, and I spent hours reading before doing this, the RSV rides beautiful with matching radials. I'm also considering going with the Avon Venom for the front, with my C/T.   7. Ahhh, your 1005 right, I thought it was a rear tire I'm really thinking of doing the rear tire on the front also I have a few thousand left on the front tire, so I may look into it more

  9. Thanks Gregg for the tip Just to make sure, as I'm about to order the tire for the front here soon, you are saying put the Avon Cobra on the front, but is that a rear tire Cobra you are meaning? What tire size do you recommend for the front ? I was going to order a Avon Cobra rear tire for the front, I think thats what you meant also
  10. tsigwing is exactly right. Allot of people who are running C/T on the rear, are also running rear tires on the front in the reverse direction. I'll also be ordering a rear tire for the front also here within the next few weeks. Once I looked into it, I found it allot more common then I thought. As first I thought just going to the Dark side was a big leap, but never imagined running a rear tire backwards on the front of the bike. I wasn't sure what to expect with the C/T,. now that I''m past that venture, and I forgot that it's even back there, I'm ready to move to the next mod, mounting the rear tire on the front
  11. ***** UPDATE 9/1***** We now have 800 miles on the back tire, and LOVE it. I have to say, the C/T rides so smooth going down the road, it makes the bike feel like a big couch now! My wife has a bad back, and noticed the difference right away. She loves the C/T. Since my original post, my friends have mounted C/T on the two Goldwings, 2 Kawa Nomads, and put the rear tire up front on the Wings also with the C/T and the love it, and swear their never going back For myself, I really like everything about the C/T. The ride is so much nicer, the wider tire gets more grip on the road, it's VERY stable riding 2-UP in the rain down the highway, and I have to say, at least for myself and my wife, we are extremely happy Safe riding, and PS, I love the KUMHO !

  14. Well , we just got home from a 200 mile ride today, 90% back roads and 10% interstate. Rode 2-UP all day. The slippery feeling I was getting was actually the C/T grabbing the road more. Now that I just rode on the C/T today for 10 hours, I must say, most of everything is in the mind for myself. To much reading into it. My wife LOVED the softer ride, and I had NO Issues today at all. No slippery feeling, no uneven tracking, nothing. After riding today, I have a totally different outlook running the C/T I also, took both hands off the wheel once or twice to untwist the cap for the water bottle, and the bike balances perfect running down the road As far as turns, I LOVE the way it grips the road. As far as highway riding, best, most comfortable ride I had on the RSV, and I love the way the bike just stays straight as a arrow As far as general riding, all through town, back roads through cow farms, we rode through gravel, dirt, everything that a 200 mile through the middle of the country can throw at you, and the C/T was the best investment I made so far on the bike ! I now have 300 miles on it, in 2 days of riding, and I'm SOLD ! Why didn't I do this sooner ! If you can get past the mental game that you have a C/T back there, and just ride the bike, your 80% there ! For us, I'm never going back, the Kumho is perfect for out type of riding here in Florida !
  15. I just checked it, and by mistake let 2lbs out. It was set at 40lbs, so I added the 2lbs back in, and I now have it right at 40lbs in the rear. Slick, I didn't ask what pressure it took to bead it when I picked it up, but they did say it took 6 weights to balance it, not sure how much that is My friend who is also running a C/T went with the Dyno beads. I really wanted to add them, but forgot to order them, and wanted the tire mounted.
  16. Thanks Gunboat, I'm sure it will be " OK " Slick97, I told the place that mounted it, to expect it to bead around 80-100lbs of air, then set the tire pressure at 40lbs. I never even checked to see what they set it at, I'll go outside and check it now Gunboat, will the slipperiness in the rear eventually go away, or is that just to be expected with running the C/T ?
  17. I have to say, I was very nervous going into this, as the reviews have been mixed that I read in the past. Here's my first day's ride experience on the Kumho As soon as I picked the bike up, It seemed the center of gravity has changed a tad in the rear. I felt a small drop in the rear. It might have been just me. When I rode the first few miles, I was expecting allot worse. I was expecting wiggling in the rear, having to really push the bike into the turns, and all the other things I read about going with a C/T. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the bike road and how straight it tracked. Within the first few miles I was right back to riding with one hand. After about 15 min around town, I jumped on the highway for a 20 min ride to see how it would feel. Bike tracked straight and smooth. I got it upto 95mph, backed it back down to 70mph, and after 10 min riding on the highway, I didn't even notice but to look down and I was riding with one hand, which meant mentally I was comfortable all ready. Got into a groove on the highway, and the C/T hung into it like a shoe stuck in hot glue, palms got real sweaty fast as I realized It pulled me over the white lines slightly into the other lane. I reacted and got it right back over, and that was Little wake up call for me. Got home about a hour later riding around, and picked up the wife. We rode for 2 hours as the sun set, one hand on the bars,the other on her leg where I normally keep it when I'm riding 2-UP, and the bike rode great, riding 2-UP was very comfortable, and felt stable going down the rode. After todays ride, I'm very comfortable riding with the C/T, and love the feel of it going down the road,as you can tell you have more rubber grabbing the road, feels great riding 2-UP, which I do allot of. The only thing after all day of riding I have to get used to, is the feeling of sometimes the rear would feel like it was on snow, and get Little slippery, just for a short second or two. From what I read, after the first few hundred miles, the C/T breaks in, and by then you forget it's on the bike, ( Hopefully ) I really like the Kumho's profile. The center threads hit the pavement flat, but the edges of the tire are rounded, and I felt good in the corners with it. I live in Florida where the roads are flat. I'm 41 years old, had 8 sport bikes in the past, ( Two ) Honda VTX's with fairings etc, ( One ) 2005 Goldwing , and now the Venture My opinion just from riding today was so far I like the C/T, especially riding 2-UP, the ride seemed smoother. My wife loved it. I think for the type of riding that we do, I mad the right decision with going with the Kumho. I really like the profile on this tire. My stock tires had 13,000 miles on them, and the front still has another 2K plus on it, so I haven't changed it out yet. I paid $43.00 for the C/T, & $13.00 S&H. Then I paid $55.00 to mount and balance it. So I have $111.00 into a tire that will hopefully last 30K miles. I'll post a review again after a few weeks of riding Were going out tomorrow for a 150 mile ride all day, so I'll get a good day's in tomorrow also.

After spending countless days and hours reading about using the C/T on the RSV, I finally ordered the Kuhmo C/T tonight I was having a hard time between that and the Federal C/T, both were within $3 bucks of each other It should arrive this Friday from Tire Rack, so I'll be eager to install it this weekend Looking forward to changing tires less often, and not having to worry about tires cracking, chunks flying off, and all the other issues with the M/C tires. Now I have to read more about what to do with the front tire

  23. 10/4, I found the Kumo for under $50 bucks, and the Federal on sale for $40 bucks I'm looking at the profiles now between the two and comparing them. I like both tires, meaning the tread profiles, I like the grooves cut into the tires that wrap around the tire
