OK...I'm getting old. One of our Canadian members told me that he was sending a check for membership renewal. I marked him paid but I know I only marked him paid for one year and he send money for two years. I knew the check was coming but now can't remember who it was and I can't figure out the username. Please let me know if it was you so that I can add the other year. On that note. PLEASE include your forum name if you send a check for membership renewal or anything else. Thanks

If it turns out to be true..........would ya???

I can only say this for sure. If it's an air cooled Twin, I already have one. I see no reason to trade for another. I really do love the Road Glide. If it's a version of the new VMax engine.....then there is at least some possibility I could end up on a new Venture. -
No reason to wait. I've already found it for you. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/4998378773.html

You are right. Sorry, I didn't look at the year model right. I thought it was the older Royal Star.

Has anybody put a RSV engine in a Royal Star? If it could be done, now would be the time.

Don't read too much into that. Most of it is due to the way it is set to time people out. I haven't looked but I haven't reset the timeout since installing the new software and it is shorter. In other words, when you leave, it logs you out after a certain period of time. That time used to be set longer. That could make it look like people were still online that had already left.

Let the discussion begin.

Get your wish and I'll probably be back on a Venture. As long as the keep the RSV ergonomics. -

Great story and great new avatar. Good look with the rest of the project. -
Yes, he is supposed to be. For anybody who doesn't know. Jaybird is a custom pinstriper. Does GREAT work at reasonable prices.

Uh...well...yea....I think you may be the only one.

My limited research shows that East Penn Manufacturing that makes Deka batteries is making the Duracell.

Well after working my tail off the past few weekends, the boat is finally ready to go to the lake. Two new batteries, battery selector switch relocated to top side, new hot water heater, new transom door built and installed, water leak under sink in head repaired, hand waxed and polished. Started easy and runs great. Now there is only ONE small problem. I had planned on selling the boat and had a buyer. I bought the Avalanche to pull the boat so I sold it. Then before the guy came to get the boat, Eileen gave me that pouty look while explaining that she didn't want to sell it. So.......... Now I have a boat sitting outside that needs to go to the lake and guess what, I've got nothing to pull it with. I rented a dock for the season at Huron Lagoons about 35 or 40 minutes from here so it will stay there for the summer once I get it there. I'm going to look into renting a truck from Home Depot or somebody. OR....buy that nice 3/4 ton Avalanche with the 8.1 Liter engine that I've been drooling over for the past couple of weeks.

I've never seen an aftermarket solution but there are a few on Ebay. This was a quick search, there are probably more. Well, the link didn't work but if you go to Ebay Motors and search for Royal Star Venture Exhaust, a few come up. -
I won't deny that I have occasional thoughts about what the demise of the RSV would mean for our site. I don't dwell on it because I'm trying real hard now days to not stress over things that I can't change. We still get new members almost every day so VentureRider is in no danger of shutting down anytime soon. Still, I can see it dwindling over the years if the Venture is not brought back. I got a message just this week from a member who commented that the posting seems to have slowed down a bit. I haven't looked at the webstats in a few weeks but at that time, we were still fairly consistent. I can certainly understand that it would slow down though. Even if the traffic remains about the same, there is so much information already posted that people who are good at searching can probably find answers to most issues without ever posting a message. I think we long ago reached a point to where a huge amount of the technical stuff has been resolved and posted and much of what we have now is the social aspect of the club. There are those who love the social aspect, I'm one of them, and those that would like to see nothing but tech information. The site is set up so that each member can hide forums that they aren't interested in so hopefully caters well to both groups. I think it is also the fact that summer is finally starting arrive, even though it was 42F here yesterday morning. Most folks would rather be our riding rather than sitting in front of their computer talking about riding. Again, I would have to look back at our history but I think that we always slow down a bit this time of the year. So at what point do I pull the plug on VentureRider.org? Not for a LONG time my friends. I love this place and the members here. We are like a big dysfunctional family. We laugh together, cry together, have our little spats and then usually make up at the end of the day. I think that what we have here is very special. If there comes a day when it drops off to a point that I have too much server capacity and bandwidth allocation for our needs, I'll simply scale it back a bit. As long as there are people who come here on a regular basis to break bread together, I will keep this site going. A new Venture would probably be a shot in the arm for us. Even if it's an air cooled VTwin, I hope that we welcome those new owners and make them comfortable here. New Venture or not though, I plan for VentureRider to be around for a long time.

Never mind. I found it. July 10th - 12th this year.

I don't know if I ever knew they had a swap meet or not. I've been meaning to make it to Vintage Days for years. Really going to make an effort this year. Do you know the dates?
-
I've seen these bikes run with just about every type of muffler you can imagine. I've never seen one that needed to be re-jetted. I ran 4 different kinds of mufflers and K&N filters on mine and it always ran great. Would re-jetting have gained me anything? Possibly, I don't know for sure, but I never felt it was necessary.
-
Sounds like a good time. Wish they had something like that around here.

I ran them with the Yamaha chrome coves and it seemed to run just as good as it ever did.
-
I know for a fact that Yamaha used to read this forum. I suspect that they still do but can't say for sure.

I took a REAL leap of faith and created a new forum for the Third Generation Venture. Will there even BE a third generation Venture? I don't think that any of us know the answer to that question. At the very least, there is now a place to discuss what we would like to see, the rumors, etc. If there is going to be a new Venture introduced at the end of this year, you can bet that Yamaha already has it pretty much designed and is putting the final touches on it. I know that they DO read this forum though and maybe there is STILL time to at least take some of what their long time customers would like to see. So...let the discussion begin. Maybe a waste of time but it could be fun.

Yea, that's what I said.

Spare Key for 2nd Gen

You don't need any numbers or anything if you already have one key. Just get a blank and have one cut as you would any other key.
