  1. Yes, it's a speed sensor. It is tight but should come out.
  2. This is the one that I ordered. I don't know if I can make it work or not but I'm thinking I can make a bushing or something and make it work. If not, I'll return it. They had one with a 1" clamp but I had it in my mind that 1" was too small.
  3. Only for a few miles. Rode Stardbogs after he put a car tire on the rear at MD one year. I personally didn't care for it but part of that may have been that I was not used to the way the car tire felt.
  4. Well heck, I was afraid of that. I ordered one with a 1 1/4" clamp. Maybe I can figure out a way to make ti work. I may be able to fabricate some type of bushing for it.
  5. The newest thing that they show on their website is the 2014 model. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/cruiser-touring/models/stratoliner-deluxe
  6. I haven't heard anything. There was a lot of talk about a version of them being used for the basis of a new Venture but now they aren't even listed any longer. Seems that Yamaha pulled the plug on them also.
  7. I am out of town and looking at various drink holders on line. I'm looking for a passenger drink holder. Can somebody measure the passenger grip rain/hand hold on the Second Gen and tell me what the diameter is? I'm talking about the rubber coated rail just under edge of the passenger seat.
  8. I didn't know that. I just called though and we are reserved for the outside patio on Friday June 10th. I don't know how many of us there will be yet but I told her to figure between 50 and 75. She did confirm that they had been bought out but said that so far there has been nothing but good changes.
  9. I'm SURE you are right. I need to read more carefully. He DID say the 2000 engine. The Vaquero is 1700.
  10. WOW....if you are talking about the Vaquero, I am reading horror stories about the heat. Are you talking about the same bike? Kawasaki even came out with a "fix" because it was so bad but from what I've read, it did very little to correct the issue. I think that the Vaquero is a fantastic looking bike and was actually considering one until I did more research on it. I've only ridden one for one short test ride so can't speak from experience.
  11. For the past several years, we have done a dinner ride on Friday night to Quaker Steak and Lube in Vermillion, OH. I hope to continue that tradition this year. I'e created a calendar event. Please sign up if you plan to ride along or meet us there so that I can let them know about how many people to expect. If weather nice, I will try to get outdoor seating. Always fun. I figure dinner around 6:00 so leave my house at 5:30. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&c=1&day=2016-6-10

    and worth every penny. :)
  13. Also, it is possible that somebody has upgraded the clutch. If it has the SkyDoc clutch or a couple of others, the half disc in the clutch is usually removed and that reduces the friction zone and causes what you are describing. So, it may be perfectly normal.
  14. One more thing...and I'm sure you've done this. Make sure you hit the audio button to make sure it's on audio. If you press the CB button and then turn up the volume, it is actually only turning up the CB. The knob controls volumes to both but they are separate. You have to press the audio button to make sure you are turning up the radio and not the CB.
  15. In all the years that I've been around these bikes, and that's a long time, I've never heard of anybody who has retrofitted a Goldwing shock to them. I would be very surprised if that is an option but if so, would sure like to hear about it. It might open up a lot of possibilities for used shocks. That being said, if your Hagon is the heavy duty model, I was told that you could send it back to them and they will reconfigure it for your needs. I have no idea what they charge for that. Now I'm also surprised to hear about the low volume on the stereo. I will be the first to say that the 4" speakers in these bikes greatly limit the sound but volume has not generally been an issue. Most of the time the problem is that the speakers start breaking up, can't handle, what volume the system is capable of. You see the volume is very low. How low? Are you sure you have it set on speakers and not headsets? At any rate, after trying several brands of speakers and even a small amp, I finally accepted the fact that I was never going to get the desired sound out of the 4" speakers. We now just use Edsets headsets without the speakers and just plug earbuds into the jack on the headset module. That works great for us.
  16. I plan to do that also. I was also thinking about the window tint film though. If it will stay one, it might be another solution.
  17. Very good post. Excellent information and pictures. Thanks so much.
  18. You are welcome but credit actually goes to "Cougar". He originally did the write-up and I just posted it to the tech library.
  19. Sorry...that is a Typo. I will correct it. I think that Bob is correct that 1 1/16 is correct or the metric equivalent would be even better. I know that it torques to 110 ft. lbs. when you are reassembling it.
  20. The best way to do videos is to upload them to YouTube and then link it to the forum.
  21. Here's a picture that I just took of the stock muffler with gasket.
  22. No I didn't. They are pretty bright already. Maybe someday but I'm fine with them for now.
  23. All the stock mufflers I've seen have gaskets. They are very thin and usually stay inside the muffler. About, I don't know, maybe 3" long and something like 1/16" thick...like a tube. Most of the aftermarket mufflers and/or Harley mufflers that people use do NOT have the gaskets. It has been my experience that if you put the stock mufflers on without gaskets, they will not tighten up properly.
  24. If I were you, I would call them. I bet they still have it. Looks like they have removed all Yamaha models older than 1990 from their site but I'll bet they still have it available.
  25. No problem. Report back and let us know.
