About the only place to buy non-ethanol around here is at the marinas. None of those pumps are accessible except by boat or walking with a can from the parking lot. Not worth the effort. I did find one listed in Norwalk, OH but haven't checked it and probably won't. It's about a 30 minute drive and to me, not worth it to drive that far for gas.

Did my first oil change on the SVTC today. Easy enough. A bit more work than the RSV and a bit less work than the Harley Road Glide. Not a big job though. Odometer has 601 miles so I was pretty dang close to their 600 mile spec. My old Craftsman lift worked fine, no adapter required. Note though that I didn't actually lift the bike, just used the lift to level it.

Trunk removal

I'm willing to do that Mr. Puc. So long as you do all he design work, fabrication, advertising, and sales. I just want half the profits. -
Trunk removal

I had mine off for the purpose of installing a trailer hitch. I just looked and found that I didn't take a picture that would help you much. Here is what I have though. -
Brand new Venture Leaking Oil
Freebird replied to PGR's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
That is really disappointing I'm sure. Sorry you are having those issues. Hope they get it worked out soon. First I've heard of any oil leaking on these bikes but anything can happen with any model/brand I suppose. I've heard a handful of complaints about the GPS but most are related to the limited number of waypoints that can be loaded in a trip. -
2011+ RSV with Ipod & Isimple Gateway
Freebird replied to Du-Rron's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Somebody else will have to answer that one. It's been many years since I've used anything other than iPhone. My iPhone's bluetooth connects easily to my SVTC, my Toyota Crewmax, my Dodge Caravan and my wife's Camaro. No issues at all. -
2011+ RSV with Ipod & Isimple Gateway

On my TC, I normally use Bluetooth to stream music from Pandora or IHeart. Sometimes I use the USB connection and stream right from my iPhone storage. That also works with Bluetooth though. -
In the USA, it really depends upon the state you are in. I know that they are not required in Ohio but they aren't required for motorcycles either. A helmet is required on a Slingshot in NY.

HEY....she got a convertible Camaro. She's happy.

I honestly can't answer any of your questions. Haven't been on a ride with my wife since installing it. I doubt that it provides any additional room. I tried to find the pdf file of my order but apparently deleted it so can't tell you the exact colors I ordered. I called Corbin and told them to make it exactly like the one that they made for Bucfan who as the first to order one as far as I know. You can call them and have them look up my order to get all the details. My wife has only sat on the bike since it was installed and said that it felt great. Sorry, I know that's not much to go on.

Do you use the Reverse?
Freebird replied to Freebird's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Regardless of what the manual states, I will certainly use it if I ever get into one of those situations where I mess up and part on a downward slope. Most of us learned years ago to avoid those situations though. I assume, like me, that most of you have learned to back into those type of parking spots. -
Eluder Fuel Mileage
Freebird replied to hunter 1500's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Still don't have enough miles on mine to give a definitive answer but from the day I bought it and rode it home from Buffalo, NY, I have gotten 40 MPG or better. Of course that it riding it gently as I've still not put enough miles on it to get out of the break in period. -
One feature that I had never had on a motorcycle was the reverse. I always thought it would come in handy at times. Though we learn to avoid it, most of us have pulled straight into a parking spot at one time or another that was on a downward slope and made it difficult to back out. So I was somewhat excited to buy a bike with reverse. Though I still haven't put many miles on my SVTC, I think I have only used the reverse one time and that was just to try it out. I just find it much faster to push the bike back like I always have. Also, the manual states that the reverse/parking assist is only designed to be used on level ground which totally defeats the scenario that I outlined above. So do you use the reverse? If so, do you use it on a slope to get out of a downward parking spot as I outlined above?

Service manuals are available in the Tech Libraries. Don'r know if I have the owners manual or not, I'll have two look and if I have it, will upload it tomorrow.

Have any of you received the Guardian Bells that I mailed out? If you haven't received yours, you should very soon.

Eileen ordered our food for Maintenance Day so we are set to go. Still plenty of work to do around here to get things ready but we are well on the way. Hope to see many of you in Oberoin on the 15th.

Gear noise
Freebird replied to sldunker's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I agree. Belt tension is the first thing I would check. When I bought the Slingshot a while back, I had terrible "gear" noise. I found that the belt was so overtightened that I'm surprised it hadn't caused some major issues. Loosened it to spec and eliminated about 90% of that paricular noise. -
They are listed here: Price at MD is 12.00 because there would be no shipping cost. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?17406-VentureRider-Guardian-Bells

Finally found the bells. Sorry, I have just been buried at work and hadn't had time to really look for them. So they are available if you haven't found one.

I agree. Though the pods can work ok, it requires much more work that just changing the air filters. You will have to experiment with the jetting in the carbs to ever get it to run ok.

Crazy front brake grinding noise
Freebird replied to Treetall's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
All good suggestions but don't overthink it just yet. It is not at all uncommon on the RSV to get some a noise with the front brakes. Some brands of pads are worse than others. A lot of people have removed the pads and just slightly chamfered the leading edge of the pads and that successfully eliminated the noise. -
