  1. Hey Kev, glad to hear you and the wife came out of this in fairly good condition. Amen on the ATGATT. I hope the insurance company doesn't horse you around on replacing the scoot and trailer. Do I see a 2ndGen in your future??

    Me Likey

Some of that stuff looked like it came from the Sacramento Delta. However they still are a cute bike....
  3. So I fired up Seven yesterday morning and rode over to preview an auction. While I was poking around a guy came up and asked if that was my blue bike out front. Like hello... here I am standing there wearing baggy Levi's, riding boots, and a leather vest.. Anyway, we changed pleasantries and parted ways. When it came time to leave I walked out to the bike and there was a nice looking Harley parked next to me... what I thought was a Road Glide...the guy and his buddy followed me out... and it was evident he wanted to talk 'bike'.. We talked about 7 of 9 and how much I'd picked her up for. Then his 'Street' Glide... oops, silly me ... But it's so hard to tell.. So we talked about how much he had spent getting the bike serviced at his Harley dealer. Tons, but he was a Harley man so it didn't matter. I just shook my head. I had to get going so fired up Seven and as I rolled away he puts on his helmet... one of the scuzziest beanies I'd ever seen. It wouldn't protect him if he tripped and bumped his head on a door knob. But... he was a Harley man... It was intertaining....
  4. 83-93 = 1stGen 99-13 = 2ndGen 83-85 = Mark I = MKI 86-93 = Mark II = MKII
  5. When you ran out of gas did you fill with fuel from a station?? Youi might have gotten a load of wet gas... Pull the line off the petcock again and drain some into a glass jar to check if you have water in your tank... If your getting flow thru the petcock I wouldn't suggest pulling to check the filters unless you'd want to check the stand pipe filters. DO you get the same flow thru the petcock in reserve and ON?? A plugged filter is also a good suggestion. There's all kinds of cr@p in the bottom of some tanks, and the reason it helps to run a bit of Sea Foam with every tank, and a good shot to a full tank every couple of months or so. It's also not a bad idea to drain the tank once in a while.
  6. For whatever reason it looks like the PO had all the vacuum bibs tied together and then to the booster. Maybe???
  7. I just did a 'venture royale throttle cables' search on eBay and got 19 hits. There's gotta be something in there some place that'll fit..... You might also try 'venture 1200 throttle cables' or 'venture XVZ1200 throttle cables'...
  8. It was worth a shot. Your first post mentions the sidestand?? My bad.
  9. I donno... I just picked up a Corbin Seat for $250 includisng shipping, which is a fairly standard price off eBay. A complete set of throttle cable for $15 and free shipping, 2 NOS media wires for the Nolan helmets for $5 bucks each. These run $40ea.+ , I did buy a NOS '99 fuel tank in mint condition in the right colors for more than I wanted to pay, but I didn't have to do a thing to it when it arrived... So there are still buys out there. If you want to look at a lot of items change your search to 'all items' and do 'star venture'... It'll take you a while to go thru all the 4,200 listings... Granted, a lot of them are up there in price, but there are still items reasonably priced as a BIN, you just have to search for them..
  10. All the above are halucinating. All they get is 10mpg!!!!!
  11. If the drip is around the sidestand you might want to check the crush washer on the bottom screw of the middle gear cover. The slave will generally leak on the collector...
  12. Try Searching for .. Gotta admit tho, it's been slim pickin's.. I guess the reason is that everyone has a pretty tight wallet due to the economy. No sense paying listing fee's when the item doesn't get a sniff... A lot of folks are going to Craigslist for free and local sales...
  13. No one said that if you sell on eBay you have to know what you're doing, or what you can smoke..
  14. I understand Gary, but can you come up with a better idea of where the fluid is going besides dripping on the collector and looking like a mosquito abatement rig??? I'm certainly all ears.... Unless we are standing there and looking at it all we can do is make is an educated guess.
  15. Sounds like the slave seal. It can leak and the DOT 3 will run into the clutch housing and then into the engine oil.
  16. What I'm curious about is after riding all that way, and starting fine to go get gas, you have catastrophic failure. Usually it's intermitent... How's your battery. It may have enough juice to turn the engine over, but not enough to load up the coils and get a decent spark...??? Or are you getting fuel???? OR a load of bad gas???
  17. Kill Switch.... :confused07:
  18. The rule of thumb is if the caliper mounts with horizontal bolts it'll work. If the caliper mounts with vertical bolts it won't. The vertical calipers also look kinda boxy... Also none will fit on a 1stGen MKI unless MKII forks are installed.
  19. E3's @ Jake Wilson. I just ordered a set and got them in 2 days. Free shiping...
  20. Here's a few thoughts for big handed folks. To get the plugs 'loose' use the sparkplug socket and the flat 19mm box end that come in the OEM tool kit. If the '83 didn't come with a kit shop eBay for a 2ndGen kit. They don't bring near the $ they are asking for a 1stGen. Just make sure it has the sparkplug socket and the flat box ends with handle. Those are the items your interested in. To removed the plugs use 12" of 5/16" fuel line and jamb it down over the porcelain and unscrew. Use the kit socket to start the threads when installing, and then finish off with the hose and tighten with the kit socket. I use the out of the box gap they come with, and NGK's only. Always take note of what the tips look like as a good indicator of fuel mix, ring condition, etc....
  21. Sorry for your loss. It seems like there are a bunch of newer 2ndGens on eBay right now...
  22. If you still have the old hose, and it has bends in it, take it to one of the larger auto parts stores and match it up with a portion of something they have in stock. It doesn't need to be the exact hose, just part of it...
  23. Just swap out the calipers and bleed, and you're good to go...
  24. I eventually got the one on the '91 to work after 3 tries. Big PITA. However... how long are you waiting for the CLASS to respond. Sometimes it takes what seems like forever, I think the chip speed is about 1 or 2 hrtz... If you're expecting it to perk right up you need to pack a lunch... Also try cleaning the multi plug. Clean the power leads too. Even though you're getting power.
  25. R1 and R6 calipers show up on eBay constantly.... Probably will until they stop wrecking 'm... I've picked up several very nice ones for $35-$45 bucks with a $10 buck shipping fee... Be patient and be picky.
