  1. Well I wonder if they are starting to follow the idiotic trend of everything going electric. A lot of car companies are going to stop production on a lot of their gas models and focus on EV and I know there are few electric motorcycles out there, so who knows.
  2. I think I may have close to 10-12,000 on my Dunlop rear tire . . . still looks good, but I'm starting to hear the howling out of is like it's started cupping . . . I had that with the Bridgestone tires, at first I thought I was having an issue with transmission or something because of the noise, but once I changed the tires no issues . . . until now. I replaced the front tire around 16-18,000 I think so I only have about 6-8000 on it, still good too. So far I feel that I have gotten more out of my rear Dunlop than I did my Bridgestone, I replaced it at 12,000 and I'm at just over 24,000 and I believe I could pull another 5-8000 out of it, but that is all dependent upon the possible cupping issue.
  3. I like it . . . I'm sure the red does make it faster . . . according to the police . . . LOL . . . I'm sure Houston would be a lot warmer with the engine being air cooled. It did make a bit of difference for me so I was happy. As far as the wireless charging I used a RAM phone mount . . . https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-149Z-A-UN12W-V7M . . . I looked it up to get the link for and I think I just bought the mount itself, I already had a clamp. I bought it locally and I don't believe it was as much as this . . . then I again it's been a while since I bought it so it may have been or it may have gone up exponentially since then. Yes that WAS that expensive. But I liked it because it was waterproof unlike the other one I bought. I run my phone, under glow lights and my Sena Freewire receiver in the trunk w/a 2 port 12v outlet. This way they all shut off when the bike is off. I'm no longer running the battery down . . .

Heat is there, yes, but I ended up getting the lower air deflectors (not sure why they didn't just include them like they did the uppers) and that helps, it also helps to deflect the air when riding in cooler weather. I have close to 24,000 on mine and love it. It was my first cruiser and V-twin. I have been a few Harley's before and they were ok, but when I saw this come out I really wanted it. I went from an FJR to this and tried keeping the FJR but the wife didn't want to ride it any more and I found that when by myself I was right the Venture more than the FJR. Been to Missouri 3 times on it, Colorado once, plan on more long trips next year . . . as long as we still have fossil fuels to use, lol. I did add handle bar risers to move them up and back since I'm average height 5'9"-5'10" . . . depending on how much I slouch . . . as far as anything else I added was just under glow lights and a wireless phone charger/holder. The rest of the bike is stock. As far as the top end issue I haven't had that experience. Oh and added a bit bigger of a windshield too. Have been looking a back rest to add to it, but I don't think it would work for me with my wife on there. Have debated on buying a second seat to add the back rest too but that is an extra expense that I don't really need to make at the moment. Hope this helps

  6. That is also how you disable your alarm if you are going to do any work on it . . . so you would have to find a way to simulate the gas lid being open when you shut the bike off. I agree it is a pain to put gas in . . . I wish they would have had it fold back at least 180 instead of a 90.
  7. Did you ever get the brake wire issue figured out? I have used the wire splices and found the brake wire coming from my trunk and was able to splice into it just fine and my turn and brake lights work fine. Just thought I would follow up with you.

  10. There was a recall for the front brake switch. Here is a link to the thread involving that and it has a copy of the letter sent out.
  11. Yes, there are two links above to info on how the person put on their bike. I used that and more or less did the same thing they did. The only thing I have an issue with is when connecting the phone to the bike I get an echo on phone calls. Not sure why and no one has seemed to find out how to fix it. I am able to (on the 20S) connect to the freewire and then to my phone as well and not having the phone connected to the bike and it works fine. Sometimes it's nice to have the texts come up on the screen so you can decided if you need to stop and deal with it or not. But with my phone i have the auto reply on when it's connected to the Sena to tell anyone to call me. Like I said above there are pros and cons but for me the pros out weigh the cons.
  12. The Mag 9 looks good, should work just fine. I'm not sure of all the functionality of the 10, but I'm sure it's a good device. Talk with your brothers and find out if they have connection issues with their phones or to each other and if they use it with others that are not using the 10. Either device you go with you will still need to get the Sena Freewire to connect to the bike and then connect wirelessly to the Sena 10. Unfortunately there is no direct connection to the bike for blue tooth comms.
  13. I have the free wire using that Sena 20S, works fine except you get an echo on the phone . . . not sure why. I flip flop one whether I have the phone paired directly to the Sena or have the phone paired to the bike. As far as the rest of the functionality it works fine, CB, Radio and comms . . . the thing we loved about the Sena is that we could talk seamlessly with out having to push any buttons when we made the initial connection to each other. When using the comms on the bike you obviously have to push the button, but in the rare case where wind is being picked up by the mic and causing your mic to pic it up using the bike comms is better. There are more pros than cons that's why we stayed with it. I like it.
  14. I don't know if you have already purchased since this was several months ago, but we have the Olympia jackets, similar in style to the ones N3FOL mentioned. Similar in price to the Kathmandu, 3 layers as well, have been down as low as 29 with mine and with the seat and grip warmers I was fine, except the tops of my legs, still need to get their pants, just haven't done that yet.
  15. OK, jumped on the bike last night and tried my phone through BT, I don't have Spotify or YouTube Music but the app I have on my phone for music is Media Monkey . . . I brought it up and it allowed me to advance to the next song as normal. I know I had been watching a YouTube video before we left so I don't know if it was trying to open that but at first the forward button was not available as your pic shows. Once I started the other app on the phone it all came up fine. Sorry I don't have a better answer, I'm using a Samsung S10 currently.
  16. Interesting, wasn't aware there were new options, hadn't been looking either, but they look good . . . would be interested to see if anyone has put them on and their thoughts myself.
  17. First off, your bike knows good music and doesn't want to skip it . . . Sorry, had to say it, anyway I don't use my phone as much as I just put a thumb drive in and just play music from it, the few times I have used my phone I don't believe I had this issue and I have a Samsung. I have the update so I will check for you in the couple of days and let you know if I'm having the issue or not . . . still leaning toward your bike being a Rush fan though . . . lol

  19. Another silly question, are you running the OEM tires? Or are they a different brand but the same size or did your change the size on the tires? I have checked mine with my wife's car and then with 2 different GPS running on the bike at different times and they seemed be to right with each other. Now I haven't checked since I put Dunlops on the bike but they are the same size tires as the OEM but I would assume it hasn't changed much . . . knowing me though . . . I'm wrong. LOL. Just curious.
  20. Interested to see a full front shot fully put together and see how they look. Have you ridden with them in that state and how much noise does that create? I would think you would hear wind whistling through the shafts, just curious. Thanks.
  21. I have an underglow light kit that has that ability as well . . . where did you find the wires for the turn and brake . . . I know it shows in the manual but I'm not following, I'm not good at reading wiring schematics . . . if I know what I'm looking for on the bike itself I'm good.
  22. Yes, reverse works and forward will work for a brief second and then stop so I'm not sure what it is, since it's still cold around here I guess I'll take it back and have the shop dig into it under the warranty.
  23. Yeah, I still have the warranty but, I just got it back from 2 different places that can't "feel" the vibration that I am feeling after they worked on the front end. So I'm afraid to take it to anyone now for them keeping the damn thing longer, this issue I guess is easy to see, but I can't believe that they can't feel the vibration that's what pisses me off.
  24. Recently I have found that the forward isn't working on the sure park, any thoughts? It will engage and move the bike for about a second then stop, nothing comes up on the screen giving any indication. I haven't ran the diags in the bike but thought I would reach out and see if anyone else had issues or knew anything about the system.
