  1. Thanks for that Bongo but by the time you posted it I had already fixed the issue referred to the shop manual and there was a picture of its exact location anyways it was a stretched plug. then found another issue on one of my coil wire plugs there was one stripped and frayed wire dissambled the plug repair it put the prongs back in and away I went for a nice little ride. Now fixing to go for another.:biker:
  2. Well thanks to @Freebird Technical Post I now have a working gas gauge. Finished the Spark Plugs wire now gonna see what is going on with my Temperature Gauge Prolly Knocked a wire lose somewhere.
  3. Hey @cowpuc have you ever had a problem with the latch that secures your saddlebags I have one I have to use a screwdriver on while I turn the key to unlatch it from the bracket I have taken it apart and greased it and put it back in and it still seems like when I turn the key it kind of feels like it is hitting something its no big deal just curious if there is a fix to this is all.
  4. Um question sorry but I'm in a jittery mood tonight Since I own one of these fine bikes and looking to possibly buy another 83... I know where a gem sets about an 2 hours cruise from me been well taken care of... anyways back to the point of me quoting this guy here That wasn't very nice Marie can hear you she is outside my bedroom window!!!!

  6. I'm kinda glad when I quit that there was no social media being in the small town was enuff just stayed home and went to work Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  7. I am glad now days that it actually stops back when I was in school most of the time made matters worse. About 3 yrs after I quit school they came down hard on Bullying in School the town or county even started bringing in Cops and Juvenile Officers the kids started getting into some deep crud on the 2nd and 3rd offense. But in the early 90's most of the time it was jocks and all that would happen to them is have to sit out a game and run laps; the receiving party would get suspended from school and sometimes they would get kicked out enough to lose there credits in High School and most just quit. Took them a long time to move past it and approach people in a social level. I know the school my kids are in does not tolerate Bullying one bit. I am saddened by the fact another has attempted such a thing. I just hope she comes to you from now on and won't be afraid to come to you first.
  8. It was off of 83 the bike is running almost perfect the carbs need tweaked but I tryed to get the butterfly s moving at the same time after I put the carbs back together Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  9. Figured it was good Ol government at work the rebel of course is a 2007 which may explain the difference between that 85 I seen a while back the only time oil goes in my air box is when I accidentally over filled the oil thought it went to the top line that's before I found this site... 10. All I know this the first time I tried to warm the tube before putting it back on but didn't see a mist just some popping without it being on really didn't think the tube would cause that if it wasn't attached is reason I'm asking about its purpose and the fact I don't see one on Shorty but she is only a twin piston bike.. versus our V-4s Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  11. Ok so I finally went thru the first generation tech articles and read all of them just don't quiz me my memory is trash but i have one question what in the heck is that vent tube for that runs from the engine to the bottom of the breather box.. the reason I ask is cause on the Rebel there isn't one...
  12. I will say when I have both Rhapsody Playing streaming music and I am running my Gps that I have a slight discharge if you know how to get in your processes I would check there and see what is draining the battery.
  13. Yeh strange enuff my son begged me to take him for a ride and well it's not popping no more but boy do those carbs need synced also don't know if it affected it any but I did also connect the hose to the air box I guess I'll call it a snorkel tube that runs to the top of the engine being warm rubber is easier to work with then cold rubber Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  14. Ok went to the local autoparts store and got some tractor plug wires it cured my problem dont understand how but it helped... anyways I now have a popping sound coming from my exaust so it could be that my mufflers have holes in them... possible running a bit lean I haven't put the new wire on the side that has the popping sound because It is rather warm at the moment..... I know the carbs need synced and adjusted but for now that idle stumble is gone I just ran it in my driveway for 30 minutes and let the fan cycle on and get up to operating temp and it did not stumble once which when I checked the wires before it was cold because I could not get it to fire never checked warm but did so today and found that number 3 wire had an odd intermittent spark.... but the guy at the bike shop was pretty sure I could use the wire and even if I couldn't I was only gonna be out 7.50 for 10 foot of wire has anyone else used the 7mm Copper core supressed wire on there Bikes... just curious if this has been done and how long the wire last.... thanks for all the help once again hopefully I can get me second set of carbs and rebuild them over the winter to keep me busy.. and possibly get another venture this coming winter to tinker with or even find a good deal like the feller who got that pretty blue one:starz:
  15. Well tearing down the carbs and cleaning them didn't change anything runs real good while cool but once it gets warmed up runs like DOO-Doo... So don't know where to go now..
  16. I don't know why but every time I see this name on tires I just but can not help but think what shade they are or how do they smell lmfao...
  17. Thanks for that I wonder why his dont have the big flat washers mine use to have... but yeah so I was correct where the small washer went.. did find an over sized part I am wanting to call it the Deceleration.. It sets behind the roundish plate on the side of the carburetor... from what I can tell I think he may have got in a hurry reassembling my Carbs I just spent 9 hours going thru it and reassembling everything let it run for a bit without the air box on.. I am gonna make sure to book mark this post Because I had found it once before and then I couldn't locate it when I needed it.
  18. well i went and done it i confused two jets lol the one that goes in the bottom of the jet block and the one that goes in the top of the carb lol
  19. this one was a small washer and i thought it looked a little naked i wonder where those washers went... Ok I just went and looked up a diagram and it says needle set and part obsolete... o well i could be wrong i will look at my slide cause I have 2 of them out at the moment
  20. one more thing when i disambled the diaphragms I found a washer laying behind the cover so I took the needle out .. I believe I assembled them back they way they went dont it go needle washer spring then screw...
  21. And i have tried everything to pull carbs and 3&4 apart I need to see if there is any other issues with these two carbs because so far i have had to replace the hold screw for the enrichment valve... the other screw I caught in time to screw it down tight. After I got the Carbs back I had to tighten the diaphragm screws but all i have to say is WOW $600.00 later I never thought I would be going thru the carbs myself and finding plugs put in the wrong holes upside down and one gasket pinched on the carb bowl.... the needle valve screw yep only thing holding the jet block in...
  22. Alright here is a good question say you jet block is missing screws would that affect the way it runs so far i have found a blocked shorter jet but it's also the block that is missing the screws Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  23. yeh that send pm thing there i dont remember seeing that before. I have only sent a few and replied so I probably wont even notice those changes.
  24. sitting here reading these mindless post of wasting time um and realized mine weren't really time wasters so im gonna go rotate my spark plugs and wires again...
  25. Ok I was curious there went and look without saying too much I totally agree with you.
