  1. Hey Scott: Robin and I are praying for you and the eye surgeon. We have been through this with our daughter. It is amazing what they can do. Wayne
  2. We had a GREAT day in Western New York.. Beautiful country and amazing roads as well as a fantastic lunch with Awesome people. Don't get any better.. Didn't have my photographer with me.. hopefully one of the others will post up some pics..
  3. It's TOMORROW!! Weather looks like it is going to cooperate. Gonna be a GREAT day.. Leaving my place at 9 AM Quick break in Fort Erie at the Timmies on Garrison near the border. Hopefully at Bob's and ready to ride by 11 AM Looking forward to this ride and see y'all
  4. The screws come out but the nuts stay put. The nuts hold a heat sink onto the board. I unsoldered at the connectors to get the board out and it worked fine. Using a wick worked well for me. This way I didn't have to chew up the box.
  5. So far looking good for Tuesday
  6. Anyone wanting to join us this Tuesday for a color ride with Bongobobny please post here. We would prefer to leave from my place so as to avoid HWY most of the day. 9 AM if possible... Suppose to be a very nice day.
  7. A bunch of years ago my brother and I took his 32 foot cruiser to a Pink Floyd concert in Toronto. Found a slip at Queen's Quay and there was a real nice boat a few slips over with a few folks having a cold one. It was named AM FM and me thinking radio asked the owner what it stood for.. His answer at the time shocked me.. ALL MY F&*KING MONEY
  8. Congrats on the new edition to the family.. I'm sure she will be well loved..
  9. Thank you Skydoc_17 (Earl): I have had a gremlin for awhile now. When I park the bike it smells like gas for a long time and as a result my friend has been stuck outside for a few weeks now and is missing being in the house. Anyhow Earl gave me some instructions on cleaning the carbs while still in the bike.. Only took an hour or so including taking off a few parts to get to them.. BUT IT WORKED!!!!! This was way less expensive and much easier than rebuilding the carbs or even having to take them out.. Thanks again Earl.. What I did was take off a few side covers so that I could see the carbs clearly and there are 4 rubber hoses which are plugged into drains on the carbs. I loosened the small philips screws and let them drain into a metal can. Then took some seafoam spray and stuck the red nozzle extension up the hose while holding a shop rag tight around the junction of the rubber hose and the red nozzle. Sprayed about 4 seconds into the hose. and then let it drain. Did this on each carb then did it again on each carb and then again. About 5 or 6 times on each carb. After this I started the bike and waited for the gas smell. Nothing.. Put it all back together and started it again and let it run for awhile. She is now parked inside again..
  10. I was at your house the other day with my 84 and I remember you and the missus having a listen. Your 86 should sound the same unless you have aftermarket exhaust. The missus really liked it if I recall..
  11. I used some very fine grit sandpaper to get rid of scratches first. Then I used a polishing wheel in a drill. Shines almost like chrome and then clear coat. Be sure to get a GOOD clear coat or it will be a problem later.. I put a hand drill into a workmate and had the wheel in the drill. With a fine polishing compound Carl did his and didn't clear them. He has something called a magic cloth and just wipes them down once in awhile. Been a couple of years and they still look great.
  12. I don't know if anyone still makes them.. I'm interested in the answers to this as well.
  13. R.I.P. Sonny.. sorry to hear about this Bob.. Bless You and Becky
  14. How hard is it to make this fit? do you also need the shifter forks?
  15. I know it would be an expense but if you want to ship it to me I'll do it for you..
  16. There are a LOT of people flying RC aircraft and they would be very insulted if you called them "TOYS" Radio Controlled helicopters are NOT TOYS and as such should be respected. If you have never experienced starting a large scale plane then the next time you start your lawnmower turn it on it's side and start it by throwing the blade around a few times.. It will get your attention
  17. Turns out that there IS a seal or thick "O" ring behind the cap but it is stuck IN the cap and one of mine was missing until I took the bike apart to change the coil. Found it and all is good now.. Thanks for the replys..
  18. YES!! Around that speed it is very normal on most 1st Gens.. something about square cut gears or whatnot.. mine is like that as well... I put a little motorkote in every third oil change and it lessens it quite a bit.. at lower speeds and higher speeds it goes away completely.
  19. Is there such a thing.. Where the plug wire enters the coil there is a round cap that screws onto the coil and the wire goes through the cap. Is there something that is suppose to be in between the wire and the cap that tightens against the coil to hold the wire in place and to seal it? If so where can I get them? Not showing on the fiche..
  20. Mine is the same if it sits for awhile. I guess the bowls are draining. I have to turn my key on 4 or 5 times and let the pump fill the bowls. Just turning it on once isn't enough and the pump has a timer so it quits after a few seconds. I just keep restarting it until it stops clicking altogether. A little choke if it's cold out and she starts right up.
  21. Looks GREAT Bob.. Did you swap the TV to the other end?
  22. if the weight you are posting is really in Kilos then the trailer weighs about as much as I'd want to tow before you put ANYTHING in it.. size is not the issue as much as total weight. Anything over 400 lbs and I'm thinking you are really pushing your luck.. cornering and stopping will be a problem.
  23. This is a bit long but I'm getting frustrated so I'm hoping someone can find a solution for me.. It started with a solo run (wife not with me) and having some fun with Marcarl. Got to going a "little" faster than usual and noticed the bike would not go over 5'000 rpm. It also developed a miss after that so I changed the plugs and it seemed somewhat better. A short time later (maybe 2 tanks of gas) I was on my way to Bongobobny's and it started missing again so changed the plugs at his place and all is good again.. but one of them was black.. Started thinking I might have a bad coil.. Changed the coils from a friends parts bike. Then it didn't fix it so I dug down into the frame again and took out the TCI. I have a friend that is awesome with a soldering iron so I took it to him and we took it apart. Once apart it was obvious that there was a problem. All 8 of the diodes were just a pile of dust. I'm actually surprised it ran as well as it did. We changed all the diodes and buttoned it up. I re-installed the TCI and started the bike. It seemed to run fine so I put it all back together. Then once it was back together started it again and it ran fine for a couple of minutes then ran like crap and lost the tach. Seemed to be running on 2 cylinders. Took it all apart again and got a couple of TCIs from Ray that he had laying around. Again it seemed to run fine so I started to re-assemble only this time when I got one side done I tried it again.. back to running like crap and no tach. So what I'm thinking is that the transistors are gone or going. Seems to run fine when dead cold and soon as the electronics warm up it quits, Got ANOTHER TCI from Bongobobny and it came out of a good running machine but may have been on the shelf for awhile. Numbers are slightly different My original was a 41R-10 and the newer one from Bob is a 41R-11. I'm thinking this should be alright but it's still a problem. Now the bike will idle fine and rev up fine without a load. Will run for as long as I want without quiting BUT once in gear there is no power and it kicks and sputters.. Any ideas??? help? I'm getting real tired of taking this thing apart so many times.. I am ordering a new TCI from Dingy but I just got back from vacation and he is being kind enough to wait until I get a cheque or two in..
  24. LOL the search engine is my friend....
