  1. Will your car make it to my house? If so you can take my Van or if we get the right day I can come along for the ride
  2. Probably my favourite tune of all time is Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb.. But I LIKE all of the above :-) actually love 50s 60s AND 70s. Really like Dire Straits - Telegraph Road and of course Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven. Totally get off on Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath and get a kick out of Queen - Killer Queen or Bohemian Rapsody
  3. The tool for windows 7 will work on windows 8 https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/releases/view/30247
  4. I'm in Southern Ontario just south of Hamilton.. I've done a few clutch upgrades on 1st gens and basically they are the same so I'd be happy to give you a hand.. I have all the tools we will need but it's a ways from Bellville to Caledonia.. It really is not difficult. You're call.
  5. Thanks for the ideas so far.. The navigator and I are looking at maps and taking some of your ideas to work on this.. Any more? keep them coming...
  6. Well folks I actually have a week off coming up and was really wanting to explore the PA and WV area etc.. I'm thinking of heading from my place in Caledonia Ontario to say PA somewhere the first day and find somewhere to stay for a couple of days and do day trips then move to another location for a couple more days and do day trips etc.. Just beginning to figure this out and was thinking you guys n gals could maybe help with suggestions of things to see and roads to ride and maybe even good places to stay (not too expensive) Any suggestions would be very helpful.. I heard #6 is great.. I've been down 219 and it was excellent (in a car) and looking forward to doing it on the bike.. so far that's all I got..
  7. If you have the oil level higher than 1/2 way up the sight glass it will spew the extra when you wind it out. So on the highway you may have gotten higher rpms than in the driveway.. Have a look INSIDE the air breather.. for oil.
  8. Jim: I am able to find 5 to 4 converter isolators but my bike AND my trailer are 5 wire so what I'm looking for is an isolator that does not convert. Cannot find such a puppy.. With the 84 I made my own with a number of relays.. but there was room to put them.. with the MM there is much less hiding space.
  9. Is there a 5 way powered isolator? Where do I get one?
  10. Sorry to hear this sad news Bob. Robin and I will be praying for you and Becky to find peace in this situation..
  11. This is the one I got from Canada http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-V-MAX-VMAX-VMX12-V-MAX-1200-VMAX1200-XVZ1300-VENTURE-CARB-KIT-/131138434030?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e8875b3ee&vxp=mtr This looks the same http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1300-V-Max-1200-K-L-Carburetor-Carb-Repair-Kit-/350935046884?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b55bdae4&vxp=mtr In my case I needed to get new needles as well and I had to get them from the dealer.. They come with the needle and the spring as well as the little "O" ring and washer.. Cost me about $8 here in Canada so I'm going to guess half that your side of the border..
  12. I got rebuild kits for my 87 off eBay and they worked perfectly
  13. My wife is not happy with the backrest position either. She liked the 84 much better. You say you are fixing that... hmmmm How are you going to do that?
  14. Hey Dingy thanks for that... I'll look
  15. So yesterday after dropping my bike in front of almost every rider in Southern Ontario I made it home in one piece. After dinner my navigator was going to be busy for awhile and the dealer where I had my bike safetied said I would need to change the rear brake pads at some point. Sooooo I decided that would be a good time.. It should only take 20 minutes to a half hour right? I took off the saddle bag which was easy.. and then had a look at the caliper.. seeing as how everything on my 1st gen is put together with bolts and so far everything on the 2nd gen is hex keys I promptly undid all 4 hex bolts and my caliper fell apart.. duhhhh So I realized my mistake and finished taking the caliper off. Cleaned the whole thing and reassembled it. Put in the new pads and all looked good. Only been about an hour so far. Now I know I have to bleed the brakes and my navigator is now home and free is I got all 4' 10" of her to sit (well sort of sit) on the bike and pump the brake for me. I had the cap off the reservoir so I could keep an eye on the fluid level. Well all seemed to be going fairly well and the pedal was getting good but WAIT.. noooo it's getting worse now.. the level in the reservoir is NOT going down. This is not making any sense at all.. Spent another hour or so trying to bleed the brake with no luck. Wandered down to a neighbor who claims to be a mechanic and asked him to come see what I was doing wrong. He says to see if anything is coming out of the master so we undo the hose at the master and a few drops come out.. so he says "I think the Master is toast" Now it's getting dark so I put everything away and figure on getting a Master Cylinder Kit in the morning and rebuilt the darn thing (that's today) Last night as I was sitting at the PC and thinking about how I was going to ask you guys what the heck was wrong it came to me lilke a smoking lightning bolt.. and I didn't even have to ask. I had failed to remove the diaphram in the top of the reservoir so I had filled IT instead of the reservoir and everything went dry.. Well seeing as how I already had the master off and apart I decided to change the seals anyhow and they were actually in stock at the local dealer in Brantford. Got her put together this afternoon and all is good.. Wow am I getting to know this bike. BUT I FEEL LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT...!! So go ahead and have a good chuckle on me:rotf:
  16. I'm pretty sure what I have is the MkII
  17. Jeff: I'm pretty sure I have one around here somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up. If so you can have it for shipping.. I am hoping to go to Bob's later in the week so I can ship it from his place (States Side) to save a few $$$ Wayne
  18. On my ride this past Sunday. I dropped the bike and my wife just stepped off while it was going down and said "Wayne what are you doing?" in a loud clear voice..
  19. It's funny that we accept this sort of thing... It is very rare to hear of a shock going bad on a 1st gen.. for example my 84 is 30 years old with 140,000 Kms and the shock is original.. It even still holds pressure for the whole summer.. almost never have to adjust it unless I'm taking someone larger than my wife for a ride..
  20. Nobody got hurt.. bike is fine.. ICE CREAM was GREAT!! And the ride was great.. excellent day all in all.
  21. Well this is a great place to hang out and folks like Don (XV100SE). He volunteered to help me with some stuff I wanted to do on the New to me MM RSV.. So I went to his house one evening and we adjusted the steering head bearing.. wow it handles so much better now. We also were able to install the new light bar from M61A1MECH which by the way is a great peace of work and easy to install.. basically plug and play.. even better if it's not two I.T. guys attempting this.. :-) The headlight aim was also taken care of so I'm not seeing the tops of the trees any more.. all in all a very productive evening. Anyhow THEN he volunteered to come to my house and do some more work.. My hwy lights were not working properly and sometimes when they did work they only worked when my headlight was on low beam. I wanted them to work all the time and be able to turn them off with the button as well as have them go off with the key. I also wanted to install my buddy rich cable and my Zumo.. So we started around 1:00 and found a bunch of wires that should not have been there. Apparently the PO had an alarm system at some point so we left that for awhile and ran new wires for everything with relays etc. The hwy lights were wired directly to something under the cowl and no relay so I'm guessing all the power was going through the ignition switch. Don left around 5:30 and pretty much everything was working as it should be. I just had to clean up the wires and stuff from the old alarm system and then put the bike together. I'm really getting to know this thing well. Anyhow all this is to say a BIG Thank you to Don and everyone else that is on this site that is willing to help or go the extra bit for otheres.. It is very much appreciated and I'm guessing it is MOST of the members here.. Wayne
  22. A few weeks ago Ben took Carl and I for a tour on some of his favourite roads. At some point we were going to ride the Forks of the Credit which is a great ride following the Credit River.. Anyhow right at the start is a nice Ice Cream place where bunches of bikers gather to swap stories and chow down on their favourite flavours.. On a nice day there are lots of bikes there. Must have been 40 or 50 parked in and around the joint. So today decided to treat my beautiful bride to the same ride. When we got to the Ice Cream joint it was just as crowded. So I got lucky and found a spot right out front on the shoulder.. The Navigator pointed it out and said. "look a spot" so I dutifully pulled into THAT spot.. What I failed to notice was the large hole with loose gravel in the bottom.. so when I stopped and planted my feet the right one didn't stay planted.. I am not strong enough to hold up 800 lbs plus my 110 lb wife so she gently layed over on her right side IN FRONT OF LOTS OF FOLKS!!!!! Twas somewhat EMBARASSING!! BUT I had lots of volunteers with smiles on their faces helping me pick it up and other than my pride there is no damage.. So question is .. Is it $5.00 U.S. or $5.00 Canadian.. There is a BIG difference donchyaknow...
  23. I'm looking for a source of vinyl that is the same color as the seats on the MM.. Anyone have any ideas? Nanci (Aces High Leather) says she will make me a tank bib if I can find the material.. Really wanting a bib with a pocket but black just won't work.
  24. Reiny: I have been in the area twice this week but I don't believe I was on Queen St. Wayne
  25. If it isn't raining I'll be there... Robin is a maybe at this point.. with a wedding fast approaching she is pretty busy...
