  1. Had a mid to late model 650 BSA Spitfire. Forget the year at the moment. Like the Lighting with dual crabs but with a small (2 1/2 - 3 gallon?) fiberglass tank. Really enjoyed that bike. Larry
  2. Greenfield village & museum, Dearborn Frankenmuth village, German style town loaded with shops & restaurants, even a micro brewery. Located just north of Flint. Barry let us know when or if you get up this way. Larry
  3. I'd be interested
  4. I've only bumped the Speedo to about 90 passing some slower cars a couple of times. Hardly any effort to do that. Reported by other owners it should see 130-135 in 4th gear. 5th is too highly geared overdrive much like the Ventures. Adding a turbo will bump horsepower from stock 170 to 300 easily. No idea what top end would be then thou. Also reported is once the Slingshots crowd that 135 number wind resistance starts effecting handling. So basically a turbo just gives ya a lot more kick at the slower speeds. Left Maggie Valley this morning after attending the Slingshots in the Smokies rally. Had over 80+ machines on hand with a bunch of vendors selling stuff . I bought a F-4 tinted windshield and had a laser wheel alignment done. Did a couple of group rides and just had a good time all week. Also spotted a few Ventures but no one from VR. I did pass the word on about the site here. Next stop tomorrow will be the B2's homestead for a visit.
  5. Joyce & I had a nice visit with Angel & Lori this morning spending time with them before, during & after breakfast. He's doing as well as expected considering his injuries. Time will be his friend in healing thou I know he's chomping at the bit to get working again. Blessings & Prayers offered up Angel. Larry
  6. No worries Paul. As David said Carl is still here as well as I and others who've swapped brands. Hope you enjoy the Spyder. Larry
  7. Would love to make it but looks doubtful at best. Lots to do on the homestead here before departing this weekend to Maggie Valley, NC Hopefully we'll make it next time Larry
  8. Don and Eileen what everyone has said in the above posts ring so true. I can't add anything else but do know I'm another very thankful member who is grateful for your efforts running this website and what you do to host a MD. Sorry I didn't make it this year, 2nd time I've missed one in all these years you've sponsored one too. God Bless you and Eileen Larry
  9. Well even on 3 wheels one is not totally safe. Cages can and do still seem to tangle up with our bikes. As in my accident 3 years ago on my 05 RSV trike. And there'll always be the human error that'll cause an accident, be it out riding our skills or being inattentive to our surroundings. But trikes will allow us a more forgiving nature overall. Larry
  10. So sorry to hear we've had another rider have another accident this year. 3 just going to & from MD. 4 counting Angel a week or so ago. I agree enough of this crazy stuff. Larry
  11. Reading the responses from folks that have both lended a hand during Dan's accident as well as all of the moral support for him reminds me of when Joyce and I high sided during the Vogal rally back in 2007. My situation was much the same as his where the rear wheel locked on me during a panic stop. But unlike Dan we walked away with mostly just road rash, more so me than Joyce. We did take that ambulance trip to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution, but as I said nothing was broken Thankfully. The bottom line is we have an amazing group of people here that will go the extra mile for our members when help is needed. Also we had decided at that time when rebuilding the bike we went to the third wheel world. A side car was considered but in the end chose to trike the 05. A totally happy decision for us with many a mile enjoyed on 3 wheels to date with our third trike now. Larry
  12. Sorry to hear of your accident David. Thou it may pain you to have to fix the bike you can be sure we all are glad you walked away unscathed. Glad your Guardian Angel was watching over you. Larry
  13. Glad to hear everyone made it home safely so far. I'll feel better when all VR MD travelers return home safe. Larry
  14. Hate to hear news like this. Hope he recovers fully from his injuries. Sending up a prayer for him. Larry
  15. You're a horse trader by heart so no taking bets here. But I'm sure if you do a trade your the one getting the better end of the deal. Larry btw: nice bike ya have now
  16. It may not of rained on MD but I do remember dodging some on heading home in the past. As noted that's why we have rain suits.
  17. Knew you were considering this for a while now. Never an easy decision to make for our 4 legged family members. Peace to him & you all. Larry & Joyce
  18. Sometimes it helps to cant the wheel so that the caliper being bleed has the bleed screw at the highest point. If the wheel is left straight there can be air trapped yet still pump fluid out. I've even gone so far as to take a caliper off to bleed them on troublesome bikes. Larry
  19. Good going Kat. You're looking great in the pics but I'm betting even better in person. Keep up the good fight and you'll reach your goal. Larry
  20. Sorry to say, no I won't. But that also depends on the date. I'll be at Freebirds MD in a couple weeks. Then the 2nd week of June we'll be in Maggie Valley for the 1st annual Slingshot in the Smokies for the entire week. http://www.slingshotroadsters.com/slingshotroadsters-events
  21. Best look into the master cylinder then, You surely don't want that to fail completely when needed most. Of course you still have the front brakes but why risk damaging that beautiful 09. Larry
  22. Puc you're right about the low angled hood on the Slingshot. Heaven forbid anyone plays tag with them deer. I don't think the outcome to be very pretty. It has been mentioned on the slingshot forum putting a taller windshield with the roof top would help in that regard. Not sure I want a taller shield thou as I can look over the stock one fine. F-4 offers a +3 and a +5" taller shield. A +3 would put the top edge directly in my line of vision while a +5 would force me to look thru it. With the stock shield in place there's 9" between it and the roll bar. I will get a F-4 shield eventually as they build in a curved lip near the top to direct air up and over the driver/passenger. I've yet to see the SL Limited orange model. My dealer has sold over 20 of these machines so far. Getting them out the door as soon as they arrive it seems. Larry BTW: I do thank you for your safety concerns for us as we do yours when you're out following that front wheel.
  23. Yea I'd equate capacity of the storage bins to about the sizes of large saddle bags. You lose the trunk space but gain a bit back having the glove box. So totals are smaller than a RSV. Here's a couple quick examples I found. One guy even had bags twice the sizes of these. Hey FlynFool you just know Ole Puc would utilize that roof to lash down his gear. Larry
  24. I looked for a capacity rating but couldn't find anything other than storage will fit standard sized back packs. I did a rough measurement of the storage bins (they're behind the seats) and got approximately 12 wide x 18 high x 16 deep. Depth varies by height as there is more at the top than the bottom due to the bodies taper. Also the drivers side loses a bit at the bottom as a battery is located to one side. It's accessible from the outside so no concerns making contact with stored items. Doors are lockable as is the big glove box. For trips people are adding mc sissy bar bags to the roll hoops. At this time no one has offered a trailer hitch for these machines thou there is at least one vendor is testing a prototype but hasn't marketed it yet.The vendor who built my roof top is also going to offer some sort of luggage capacity. Steve I'm happy you're enjoying the trike. I would have loved to have kept it but couldn't justify doing that due to garage space and income limitations. I have missed riding it too. Larry
  25. Yep that's a good meet spot for the south east corner of Michigan on heading to Don's MD. Even the Ontario members have used that location to make it a rally point heading to Don's place. Hopefully we'll be there as well. We may have a conflicting schedule on Friday and may have to arrive late Friday night. If that's the case we'll also miss the evening meal at Q S& L. Larry
