  1. Welcome to the board, congrats on the new (to you) bike and thank you for your service.
  2. I say both, give him all he can handle. I dare you to take him up on his challenge, how's that sound.
  3. Looks like most of the members are in a bad spot for riding.
  4. Coming from someone that has worked in that industry most of my working career I can tell you for sure that it is not illegal but you don't want to do it. That is a drastic drop in tire size that is going to change (noticeably) the handling characteristics of that truck. Also, the load rating of that tire is going to almost certainly be for a passenger car as opposed to an SUV which can cause issues all in itself. Buy the correct tires for that SUV and eliminate any chances of problems.
  5. Wow, that sounds eerily familiar all the way to what you're crediting for saving it.
  6. Great customer service, hope you don't need it again.
  7. Glad you didn't blow it, that's no fun.
  8. Looks like it's Steve's kit, but how do you order through the classifieds? Do I just send him a message?
  9. Can anyone recommend a good, clean, easy to install LED Light Bar for the trunk. I just want to light up the back of the bike better than it is from the factory.
  10. I didn't have a project planned since winter doesn't call for parking the bike here, most save that for the worst of the summer but now that I have a need to I have some work planned. With the obvious being the tires, I'm also going to install new brake pads that the guy I bought the bike from had. I'm going to service the differential, check the adjustment on the on the steering bearings and lube the drive shafts splines. Anything else you guys feel like throwing out there that is a might as well kind of thing while I have the bike torn apart I'll probably do as well. If it's going to be down for a while I might as well make it worth it.

If that's what it takes to help someone else avoid what I just experienced then I'm glad it went the way it did. Honestly, it's an experience I could have lived without, but at least I can talk about it.

I eased out of the throttle and sat up more forward on the seat and just kept the front wheel pointed where I wanted to go. As the speed dropped down around 30 I pulled in the clutch to take the pressure off the rear wheel and just kept as centered with the front wheel as I could to keep the rear from grabbing and high siding. I let it roll all the way to a stop to keep from touching the brake. I called D.P.S. to have them sit behind me with the lights on until the tow truck got there since I was on the left side of the freeway but the cop stopped traffic instead and had me ride it to the right shoulder so I could safely wait for the truck. Almost dropped the bike a few times trying to do that but I muscled her over and there I sat.

Just goes to show that even when you do everything correctly stuff can still happen. I'm a big believer in maintenance coming out of the car care industry so I don't screw around but Mr. Murphy is always watching.

    130 vs 150

Thanks guys, ordering the 130 so I can have a match set. Slow speed handling is the only complaint I have with this bike so I'll see how that works and can always change back if I don't like it.

    130 vs 150

    Amazon my good man, Amazon.
  16. Well now that I have to order my tires I would like a quick plus/minus on going to a 130 up front in place of the stock 150. Does it make a big noticeable difference? Do any of you that made the change wish you hadn't and why? I can get front and rear shipped to the house for $285 in 2 days which is fine since I won't have time to change them until this weekend anyway.

Well I guess I'm glad I asked about tires the other day, now I have more than just desire as a reason to buy new tires. I was just saying I need to wear them down enough to justify the purchase, I guess this was God's way of helping me out without hurting me. I must say, I was doing a bit more praying than I normally do in such a short period of time, glad he was listening.
  18. Not sure what I hit but I felt a thump and heard my back tire go. I was on the "ick-spress" way (thanks for that puc) doing about 85 when it went and managed to make it to the shoulder. I guess all those years on a dirt bike paid off. Now I sit here waiting for a tow truck instead of watching football but I'm thankful because it could have been a lot worse.
  19. Every chance I get I take shots at those in my family up in the Midwest that are suffering through this snow, so I guess I would deserve it if you did, but I just don't think you have the range to make me worried.
  20. At least now I know I'm not crazy but surprised they are that touchy.
  21. I just made that ride today on 89A and crooked it was and I loved every minute of it.
  22. It runs just fine now, better than before I cleaned everything so I don't think it's a fouled plug now. If no one has seen this before I'm tempted to pull the plastic again to see if that is in fact the cause of it doing what it did. I kid you guys not, from 3rd gear on, ~30 mph, no power at all and a bunch of backfiring when I tried to force it.
  23. As far as I can tell, this tire is not made in the stock size for the front and I don't want to run the smaller size for the guys that are running it, what tire are you using for the front. I hate the thought of mixing tires but if it rides, handles and lasts like everyone says it does I want to give it a shot. Second thing, I swung in to the bike shop to see what they would charge to mount one for me and he asked what I was looking for. I told him and he made a comment about them being bias ply and that because of that they make noise. Any truth to that or just another moron at the bike shop?
