  1. What you are describing sounds normal to me. These v4s don't really get smooth under heavy load until you get about 3500 or 4k.
  2. A new plug is only new for 1 stroke a badly flooded cylinder can foul a plug on the first stroke. I would clean and dry the plugs crank the engine with the plugs out to blow the cylinders out. install the plugs and lay the plug wires on the plugs let the fire jump about a 1/4 inch from the wire to the plug that will give you a hotter spark. If you suspect the exhaust is plugged just take it loose at the cylinder that will answer that question. The reason the exhaust is healed on with a spring is to keep the exhaust from distorting and breaking the cylinder.
  3. Heck Bill only 40 years experience you can't know as much as him. He's been to yamaha propaganda school. When I was his age I knew everything now I'm just smart enough to realize how little I know.:rotfl:
  4. that modified 95 ci harley is 262cc biger and it is just a little faster than a 1294cc.
  5. Dan you can get almost any color you have ever seen on a factory built vehicle in ether a single stage or base coat clear coat. run a search on auto paint and look at the paint chips go to a local paint store and look at there paint chip books.
  6. Dan the metal flake will be mixed in the paint when you buy it. you can buy metal flake and add it yourself but I would recommend getting quite a few paint jobs under your belt before you start custom blending. If you screw up on piece with factory mixed paint you just repaint that piece. If you screw up one piece with custom blended paint its very hard to duplicate and match. The only problems with metal flake paints is getting even coats if you get it heaver on one stroke than the next you will have tiger stripes. If you use base coat clear coat paint its alot easier the base coat is like shooting primer you can spray a couple of good wet coats then fog over it to get it even then spray the clear for the gloss. with single stage paint you have to get even coats and get good flow without running it to get gloss. metallic charcoal is a real paint to get right but a medium to dark blue is alot easier to get right.
  7. Dan there are hundreds of books on painting. the prep work is the key to good paint jobs. the paint has instructions on mixing on the can and your local paint dealer can help you with paint selection. You can read and learn alot of tips and techniques but your real education will come from trial and error.
  8. I got 95 and the one I missed they have wrong. the question was when making a left turn you should wait [a] till 2 cars pass wait till all dangerously close cars pass [c] till all cars pass. I answered b they say c if you waited till all car traveling the opposite direction passed on busy streets you could wait for years. If there are no cars dangerously close you make the turn.
  9. I run mid grade I get some spark knock with some regular brands. Altitude comes into play as well the lower you go the more octane you will need to keep the spark knock at bay. The best way to figure out what your bike needs is to run different grades and check mileage and performance. the spark knock in mine is very noticeable on take off just as the clutch fully engages and loads the engine.
