  1. looks like a couple of people have alot of time on their hands. just saying.
  2. Another great story....thanks Puc
  3. Hi Dave, Yes I am working the bike show on the Friday, but we have to run our daughter back to Peterborough on Saturday, she has to work at the Petes game that night and school starts on the Monday. Won't seem right not being at the dinner, but life does get in the way at times.
  4. Doesn't look like we will make it this year, I hope everyone has a great time. Mike
  5. Hi Larry, I hear ya on the cost, there is a small dealer here in my neck of the woods that sells Urals, Royal Enfields and Kymcos, but they also do alot of work on side cars. A couple weeks back we paid a visit to discuss a side car for my RSV.... man o man love the idea of a side car, but the extra 12,000 or so to get one on it is a bit daunting, checking some of the local adds here there are a few for sale but even the cost of those can be silly, I am in line with what Cowpuc said about a used Ural, that is another option we are looking at as well. The Ural is a very cool looking rig. heck we have even found the doggles for the pooch so she can also go for rides. Good luck with your search. Mike
  6. Sorry to hear about this Carl, very glad all are ok and the house was not touched. We hope everything works out ok. Mike and Tammie
  7. Great to hear...
  8. We arent small but mine is greater then the high commanders, our RSV handles both of us and our gear when travelling on the scoot with out a whimper. Yes they are top heavy and when fully loaded going slow in tight areas can be a test, but as Eck mentioned. practice practice practice. Get to learn how to ride your bike slow, and become good buds with the friction zone and the back brake. Mike
  9. Larry, I am considering doing the same to my RSV, I did find a few pictures of RSV's with sidecars on a couple of side car company sites. http://www.texassidecars.com/yamaha.html if you go about half way down on the link for Texas side cars there is a Midnight with a ranger side car, only problem Texas Side car closed up this past July http://www.championsidecars.com/escort.html on the Champion Side car site there is a RSV with an escort model side car, it is in the pictures that are on the page provided by the link Also up here in Ontario on kijiji there is a RSV with a Hannigan side car http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?requestSource=b&adId=1078280216 Hope this helps. Mike
  10. Question for those of you with Highway pegs on your 2nd gen. What size are they for mounting on the engine guards... 1" or 1 1/4" I can't go out and measure them as my bike is in storage right now. Thinking of the Kuryaken ones Thanks, Mike
  11. Very glad things have worked out for Tip, gall bladder can be a PIA, we are going through some gall bladder stuff with my much better half, it has given her a few crazy episodes that hopefully will be gone when it is taken out. All the best to you and Tippy. Mike
  12. A thread after my heart..... My favourites are Elijah Craig 12 year old Small Batch, Four Roses Small Batch, I am just finishing a bottle of Blantons, it is ok too. I have always wanted to try Van Winkles, but have never seen it. Part of the best parts of any trip we take to the US is going into the liquor stores and finding the different bourbons, plus getting a bottle or two of Everclear for another batch of Apple pie. I like beer, but really nothing better then a glass of bourbon and cigar sitting outside watching the world go by. Mike
  13. Always have a fun time, I have to work a couple shifts at the bike show, just not sure when ..... so it may be a last minute thing for me. Mike
  14. Happy Anniversary to both of you.
  15. Nicely done Ben. Mike
  16. Thank you, love it.
  17. The rubber plugs behind the fake engine fins can tend to dry out and contract a little especially when the temp drops, I think some members have placed a dime or penny (I may be wrong with the denomination) and held it in place with some 2 sided tape then put the fins back on. My 02 has this same malady, I like to think like Zzyzx pointed out, it is only marking its territory for the winter.
  18. The plan was to go, but didnt happen.....that work thing got in the way again....bike is still on the road.....hopefully get out for a ride today or tomorrow. Mike
  19. Thanks Mary Jo, Lots of good info, there is a company about an hour from us here in Ontario that does side cars I have driven by it a number of times meaning to stop in and have a chat, they are also a Ural and Royal Enfield dealer so lots of neat stuff to look at. I agree with your comment about having a second bike so they can get out on 2 wheels, I know I would be in that group. It is funny the whole sidecar thing came up for us one day in the summer when my wife called me from work saying she saw a bike with a side car on it on the way to work......she asked if I had ever thought of that, I had to admit I had thought of it, but I was thinking of a Ural as a second bike, not putting a hack on the RSV, but now thinking maybe one on the RSV would be neat. Thanks again and I will ask more questions as we think of them, also got your pm. Mike
  20. That is cool, yes agree lots of work, from the side it sort of has the lines of VW Bug, the front has a Transformers thing going on.
  21. We use that one when ever we are planning a trip to the US. Mike
  22. Thanks for all the input and info, lots to think about. I love the look of my RSV the way it is, and think a Ural would be fun to have as a second bike. I think Tammie likes the idea because as long as the side car or hack has a windshield she figures she can knit while we ride. Long rides more socks. I will touch base individually with questions, thanks again. Mike
  23. Hi All Just kinda putting something out there, sorta throwing stuff against the type of thing. Has anyone put a sidecar on their RSV. Any hints on the type or style, how comfy are they for the passenger. I realize it will completely change how you ride the bike. Also I recall seeing threads in the past about Urals, can anyone relate their experience with the Urals, I know the newer ones now have fuel injection, what are the older ones like. Think they are neat machines, just doing some thinking right now. Thanks for any info about either sidecars on a RSV or about Urals. Mike
