  1. Tip and I are also hoping to make it over to honor the life and times of Bongo, Carl, and share in the grieving of the communities loss and in the rejoicing that Bob's suffering is over and he is standing pain free in the presence of our Lord. As it stands right now it looks promising for us to make the trip. To your knowledge, are there any roads crossing Canada that we should avoid (road constructions?) brother? By the way @Marcarl, THANK YOU for posting up Bongo's Obit! It was greatly appreciated! I can't help but wonder if that should be moved to a thread of it's own so no one misses it.. Regardless,, THANK YOU for getting it posted here my brother! Love ya Puc
  2. Prayers Up this morning for you my brother!
  3. :sign yeah that:,, mine too Cha, mine too!
  4. Here ya go Slyvester,,, your chance to meet Bongo pre your own heaven bound journey.. As yourself, the man was an amazing individual from all aspects and a good friend who, like you, loved The Lord, and who was never shy about sharing his love for Jesus, his fellow man and motorcycles. I am sure the crowns I lay at the feet of our Savior on that great day will pale compared to those of this giant of a man,, our friend and brother - BongoBob.. and quick vid of Bongo's well wishes/showing his love when another of our brothers (Yammer Dan) went down a while back..
  5. My heart is breaking,, this is so difficult.. My deepest condolences reach out to Becky, Bongo's family and all his friends far and near. What an extremely special person our BongoBob is/was and what a blessing to have gotten to know him and share in his friendship. Thank you Lord for blessing us all by sharing him with us.. Thank you too Big Tom for keeping the updates coming even though it was very difficult.. Tip and I are continuing in prayer for you and your family as you work thru the days that lay ahead Becky. Bob was a truly great man who will be missed by many many people! Rest in peace my sweet brother! Puc
  6. My deepest and most sincere heartfelt condolences go out to Becky, Bongo's family and friends at such a grievous loss as that of my brother and dear friend Robert "Bongobob" Scharf.. My mind is just swimming in sadness in hearing this,,, my gosh what are we gonna do without Bongo,,, as sad as I feel I can't help but have a broken heart for Becky,,, Becky,, if your reading this,, PLEASE know that Tip and I are thinking of and lifting you up in our prayers sister.. Bongo I am so sorry you had to suffer thru all you did at the end my friend and one of the first questions for the Lord that I will have when I join you in His presence up there is why... On the same token though I will follow up that question up there as I do now with a HUGE thank you to our Lord and Savior for blessing our lives with your presence! Your love of our Lord, family, your fellow man, motorcycles and willingness to share the knowledge that God himself blessed you with will never be forgotten my brother. Our loss is Heavens gain... Puc
  7. Sounds like your summer fun is being held captive .. Pick up the bike, take very good and exhaustive pictures of the damage they did before you leave the dealership and ask for a a copy of the list of parts they ordered, tell em to call you when the parts are in and finish out the summer enjoying your ride - even if you have to hold it's body together with stickers and zip ties . When the new parts come in just take the parts and install them yourself BUT don't tell him you plan to do that or you will probably never get your parts!!
  8. Prayers Up this morning Bongo! Hope your situation continues to improve my brother!!
  9. Prayers Up this morning my brother!!
  10. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW KRIS = :You_Rock_Emoticon::You_Rock_Emoticon::You_Rock_Emoticon: = :sign Rock On::sign Rock On: Sister!!!!!! Rich, I cant help but wonder if a schematic for 250 Yam may not be of some assistance to her.. Looks like a neat scoot to start out on IMHO.. I think I would check and make sure sprockets, carb parts (is it a CV carb?) and maybe Ignition boxes are still available for it and if so,, I wouldnt be afraid to run the socks off the little critter:sign bring it on:!!! to the both of you but double that :ice_congrats-vi6886 to your precious bride!! HAVE FUN KRIS!!
  11. Even though we can't tour on a bike anymore, it is no reason for not attending the rally. Here is a pretty good sample of the second day of the rally from a innocent bystanders on foot perspective.
  12. The day before we left for a couple weeks on our 2nd Tour of the season we went to check the blueberry ripening progress at the abandoned berry patch on Tweeksis (our 83 Yamaha Venture) and on the way home I noticed this really neat tricycle sitting in someones garbage. After strapping it on the back of our motorcycle and getting it home, we were pleased to find it in very functional condition. We dropped it off at Birdies house (my 2 year old grandson) on our way South West to New Mexico the following day and Birdie absolutely LOVED his new ride!!
  13. Prayers Up this morning brother!!
  14. Hi Herm, pleasure meeting you and !! If the bike were mine I would pop the seat off and remove the sending unit from the top of the fuel tank. Then I would syphon it from the sending unit hole and be able to inspect the tanks internal condition with a flashlight. I would also take a mirror and look at the tanks top section for stalagtite rust growth just to be sure future carb plugging from rust was not going interrupt my fun while out CTFW (chasing the front wheel) a few hundred million miles from home. After that I would put er back together and refill with fresh gas. Open the drains on the carbs, turn the key on and cycle the fuel pump by turning the kill switch on an off to make sure my pump is working and she was pushing fuel to the carbs and that each carb is getting fuel. Next I would pull the diaphrams and try cleaning the carbs thru the drains with carb cleaner but that involves more story telling here and you are probable bored with this and have enough to do with draining and checking the tank so I will stop there Sorry to hear of the passing of your father,, I know how it feels. It is wayyy cool that you inherited and are working on getting his scoot up and going though. Congrats on the wonder challenge that lies before you and alllll the very best in getting that sweetheart back to life on the road!! Puc
  15. To quote Capt'N Jack Sparrow,, "not all treasure is Gold or Silver" and to anybody who is a motorcycle purist, this video defines Jack's iconic saying. While it does take a little treasure hunting,, scoots like this 1959 HD FL Pan can still be seen roaming the Prairie and "The Hills" during the rally..
  16. Rock n roll!! Cutting across the Sand Hill back roads of Nebraska we discovered a section of route 83 that was still water covered from the spring rains that flooded a lot of the area. This area had been watered out for so long that thousands of little Catfish were sharing the roadway with the vehicles. Because Trooper sits so low to the ground we decided not to risk the crossing and detoured back to Thedford before heading back north toward the bike rally at Sturgis.. Some of the bikers who were heading that way too joined us but many of them were brave souls who just went ahead and forged onward (Tip, Tweeks and I would have!!)! One never knows what fun may appear over the horizon when out CTFW(s) while out enjoying this great land of ours! Get out and ride!!
  17. Years ago I went thru a plathora of products testing for cleaning seats as well as other common materials on scoots I was restoring. The very best product I came up with is a product called "Greased Lightening".. It is amazing well it works if used properly. I found that direct application to the seat (seat off the bike as Lightening will stain aluminum if not carefully used) and scrubbed with a scrub brush and power washed to remove the Lightening worked EXCELLENT! Work hard and fast Bum, scrub for a couple minutes, rinse/spray to see what you have. If not happy = repeat.. MAKE SURE YOU RINSE THOUROULY = stuff is powerful..PS - it does work EXCELLENT as a wash too in a diluted state as mentioned on the jug but you REALLY gotta be careful around unpainted/clear coated aluminum!! Here's the product on ebay but check out Menards or box store for bigger bottles - this is just an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-GREASED-LIGHTENING-MULTI-PURPOSE-CLEANER-DEGREASER-3-2-OZ-BOTTLES/163641988082?hash=item2619d293f2:g:g04AAOSwmaVblVs-
  18. Here is how they do it down in Texas.. We woke up in the outback down there on our recent trip and I noticed this shooter guarding a Texans home.. Wayyyyyy cool thing to wake up to,, as long as your one of the good guys ..
  19. Couple of my neighbors just stopped by to welcome us home.. Both just ordered these up: https://www.smga.com/american-tactical/1911-military-5inch-45acp-190 and trying to talk me into the same.. No way hosay I told em,,, why buy another 1911 when I already got one.. Can't wait to shoot theirs though Still watching for a good deal on a Berretta 92F myself.. Thanks ya bunch of lop eared lead tossin varmints for keeping the lead flyin around here!! LOTS of REAL purdy shooters showing up!!
  20. GOOD ON YA FOR GETTIN IN THERE AND GETTIN IT FIGURED OUT MY FRIEND!!!!!!! Prayers Up for your day of diagonstics Don and a good outcome therein!!
  21. It sounds to my untrained beaner like you might just be running out of electricity and not fuel.. This happens if there is an issue with the charging system - the bike runs fine till the battery runs low.. I'd pick up a cheapy HF volt/ohm meter and do a voltage check across the battery cables with the scoot running. I would be looking for 12 volts minimum at idle and 14.5 voltsish off idle when the voltage regulator kicks in..
  22. Out of curiousity brother, have you had your ears/hearing checked recently too? A small amount of wax on a drum or an inner ear infection can cause symptoms like you are experiencing BIG TIME!! I know what your facing on making the decision to back off on the two wheeler travel my friend,, it is definitely NOT a fun decision to make,, especially when riding/working on em and owning em is such a passion that we share. My demise was due to overwhelming tiredness hitting out of no where and, as your situation, things could have gotten ugly fast - just not worth the risk. Tip and I switched over to 4 wheels, just got in from a 7k miler plus,, had a BLAST but did indeed experience the tiredness several times and she had to drive while I slept. On the way in from Sturgis it "hit me" in a construction zone, pulled over in a rest area, got out, pulled the bed forward while Tip moved behind the wheel, slid my shoes off and crawled in,, woke up an hour later all ready to roll again and discovered I had left my tenner shoes on the pavement LOL.. I then told Tip how happy I was that she was so supportive of my condition needs to make the switch and being good with sleeping in our little "mtr home" instead of tenting it as loosing a pair of tenner shoes is/was nothing compared to what could happen if I nodded out at the grips and we took a tumble into one of those Black Hills canyons.. Tweeks and Maggie are confined to local riding only and this works great! While neither of them get the CTFW time in they deserve, I cant imagine being bikeless even if I/we only ride a few times a year.. Maybe a sell off of the high $ steed and dropping back to something less valuable is in your future my friend.. I know when I left Olivia, my 42 HD, at home when we traveled I had night mares of getting broke into and having her gone.. Just to much cash sitting there not getting used.. I loved that bike but it was time.. Fingers getting tired here typing like you and I are sitting in the garage yappin... Will be praying for your health and decision making Don.. Listen to that internal still voice of the Lord and you will be fine brother... Shoulda let me auction off the new Venture at MD LOL
  23. Prayers Up for my brother!! The Lord loves you Bongo and so do we!!
  24. Really true friends are a treasure worth far more then any form of earthly riches.. This saddened my heart to read of the passing of one of your true friends Lewis.. You have my deepest condolences and supportive prayers as you work thru the grieving process of such a great loss.. May your heart be comforted by the love and tenderness of our Creator and you find peace that passes all understanding until that great day when you get to see him again my brother!!
