Hey Muay,, if it turns out that the popping comes back another thing to check for is idling to low and exhaust leak.. Even the smallest gasket leak in the exhaust system can cause symptoms like you are describing.... Puc

Ok you guys,, got a quick question,,, I have a person that called about an ad I have up, says they have a year 2000 RSV to deal on.. Problem is they were not real sure on the miles.. Looking at the odometer, there are places for 6 digits (this is what I had explained to me). Does the year 2000 odometer have a 5 place miles reading and a 1 place tenths reading or are all 6 positions on the odometer face read in miles.. HELP and THANKS ahead of time!! Puc

Good point George!! I have done lots of tanks thru the years,, I tried the Cream Coat kits, made my own out of a mix of Seal All (GREAT STUFF with many uses) and acetone, tried the electrolisis method (google it, this works really good too) and finally found this stuff called "RED COAT".. The red coat is what a lot of radiator shops use (finally figured it out).. The really nice thing about the red coat is that you dont have to (I still do) acid the tank first.. It literally makes a tank within a tank.. I know of three bikes that I sold many many years ago that the red coat still looks like new in!!

This one has the original carb on it Squidley, got the prettiest little "AMF Harley Davidson" molded right into the casting,,,, probably made by Keihin or something cause I highly doubt HD made their own carbs,, maybe though... You gonna try an S&S Super next?

I'm with Unc,, I would drill a small hole in the end of the battery just big enough for the tip of a screw to start into and screw the screw in,, it will probably come out with just the screw tighting as your turning it,, if it dont - grab the end of the screw with some pliers and yank it outta dare!!!

If its not an internal tank issue I wonder if that stuff Brain (Tx2sturgis) told us about this past winter would be a good product to spray in that area... It was an aircraft anti corrostion spray of some kind.. Maybe he will chime in here.. Puc

Here ya go Randy (and Tx too - he is speakin my lingo below!!)...I am out of breath in the Video,,, I just couldnt help attempting a kick starting,, three twists, choke at 1/4 pull,,, bring the piston up between the cam lobes,,, tryed and tryed,,, ending up using electric and it started right up... Oh well,, maybe when it warms up a little:rotf: Oh yea,, I left a little message on this U Tube link for all my VR friends! 100% in totaly agreement there Brian,,, dont know what it is but certainly have a tone of their own!! This one REALLY sounds good on the road!! May pull the idle down a little but I wanna wait till it gets warm enough here for the old oil pump to be pumping something besides molassis before is do!!!
