  1. Nope,, maybe go back and check the auction again,,,, it is clearly a no reserve auction with an opening bid of 24k U.S.. If a person bids on it and no one else does,, they actually do get to walk out the door with the bike for 24k (o.k., you win,, +16 bucks for title), maybe read the auction copy as it clearly explains this. Make it easy on ya here and let the seller's ad speak for itself , ALL THEIR WORDS - NOT MINE- here ya go: """WE ARE OFFERING A NO KIDDING DEAL ON THE THESE WITH LIMITED QUANTITIES. BIDDING STARTS AT $24000.00 AND THERE IS NO RESERVE. THERE IS ALSO NO, NONE, NADA FEES AND WE ARE PAYING THE ALABAMA TAXES FOR YOU. THE ONLY THING YOU PAY IS THE $16.50 ALABAMA TITLE FEE (IF YOU LIVE IN ALABAMA) AND NOTHING ELSE. READ AGAIN, NOTHING ADDED TO THE WINNING BID. """ Another interesting point in their auction is the comment = "we are offering THESE with limited quantities".. Any one else see that besides me or is it just on my computer?? If I were interested in a new Venture and reading this ad,,, I would call or email them as they suggested in the rest of the ad and see if they would just sell one outright for $23400 OTD, basically splitting their saved Ebay fee's with me:stirthepot:..

I knew it,,, I just knew it!!! This whole thread was a about CONdor running a scam to get a free club trip to Hawaii so he could sip fermented Coconut juice and watch the Hulu hoop girlies... I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Yeppers,,, those folks are selling with no add on charges like the costumary doc, shippin or prep fees and are even eating the taxes to get em rolling.. I gotta hunch that unlike Canada where it sounds like the new one is sold out, some spots here in the States are having a tough time clearing em out. Here on the west side of Michigan I have yet to see a new one on the road except for our local dealership had one parked at the rally point for our Spring Run last weekend trying to drum up interest. I think if a guy wants one and is willing to hold off, their going to be hard sells here like the Strats, Roadliners and Raiders were and by years end they will probably be doable for under 20..

  5. At Don's as close to the Fried Chicken table as possible
  6. Thanks Don,,, was just concerned that threads like this: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?15325-Warden-I-Love-You!!! may get tossed without the membership knowing it was being disgarded...
  7. Well put as always Don,, thank you!! Along the same line, a while back I read a comment requesting that housekeeping/pruning be made here in the club's forums to old posts. As I recall,, some of us members spoke up about wanting to maintain the integrity of past posts for sentimental and archival useful purposes.. I still am not sure about whether or not past posts/threads are deleted on a regular basis, are they? If they are,, what is the criteria for the removal? The thought of seeing past posts deleted came up again with the loss of my friend Yammer Dan,, I would love to be able to read/reread Dan's post for many years to come (I know,,, I am a sentimental varmint). Personally, I think that post deletion should only happen, unless of course we are talking those posts that violate our clubs posting rules, with some form of knowledge by the membership (such as deletion by stated date expiration) so anyone who would like to make a personal copy of those posts before they are deleted can do so.. Can you or one of the mods make comment of where this post pruning thingy currently is at? Thanks Boss Puc
  8. Gary,,, is there a chance you could tell us what kind of ambient tempts you were running in and whether or not you were successful in aquiring some stop and go backed up traffic like you went looking for to test the Venture's capabilities in heat management in real life touring occurences?? Having not had the opportunity to shake down one of the new Wings yet I still have that testing to look forward to so my opinion on the Wing is pointless BUT,, for all the good/bad/ugly I have read about it, I truly think you are in for some AWESOME riding out there and wish exactly that for you! Please hang around and keep us updated as you and your new bike get out chasing the front wheel!!
  9. I just wanted to take a second and wish all you Mothers out there,, regardless of race, color, creed or type of bike you ride, a very very Happy Mother's Day.. THANK YOU for standing by your children thru thick and thin - for without you,, our world and all it has to offer would have been history a long time ago. A lot of lop eared VR varmints of my species here would never guess this but I have a Mom and she actually put up with a lot of guff from me when I was growing up.. I wasn't always the tame, quiet, thoughtful, highly intelligent soul that I am now. There were days - years actually, many of them, that I am sure my Mom would have just as soon shipped me off to a boys school as to look at me but that dear sweet Mother of mine kept it together thru all those years and played a big part in my survival... THANK YOU MOM for being you and for all you did for myself and my 6 siblings too!! P.S. - just wanted to wish Marcarl a very special Mothers Day too. I didnt forget cha Carl,, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOU!! I have been,, and always will be the ONLY person who my Mom would climb on the back of a bike with - talk about Motherly Love...
  10. I once ran cross country with a smoked stator by purchasing a battery charger and hanging a car battery on the side of my bike, disconnecting the lights and running the ignition off battery only.. Worked good,,,, not as good as the one Squidley had waiting for me at his house in Texas when Tweek's stator went though.... Yea,, its hard to outsmart Murph but the old carrying the xtra parts routine does usually prove effective for me too David... One thing about it,, clean socks and shorts are always available a Walmart 24/7 but try to find a Stator or the like while out CTFW - personally,, the maintenance department on my scoot is well stocked when I am heading out for a 2 monther cause me and Murph - we love to ..
  11. Sorry to hear about the loss of your precious Buddy Larry and Joyce... Thinking of and praying for you both as the two of you work thru the grieving process of losing a family member that had only one purpose when he stepped into your lives = to be your friend.. Thanks for fulfilling your calling of being a friend to my friends so honorably Buddy,, you were loved and you will be missed.. Puc

  13. I gotta get my other hand repaired,, this one handed typing puts me at wayyyy to much of a disadvantage when competing with the likes of Fool!!!!
  14. Yep,,, definitely a good point only dont rely on that logic if riding here in West Michigan cause I know for a fact that our LEO's are human beaners too and they tend to look at speed limits as more of a suggestion than an absolute like the rest of us.. Around here you would be well served to take Freebirds advice on using a gps to check for speedo accuracy.. I never have checked my 1st Gen but after a brief encounter on my 6 speed R1 at 172 tached out in 5th gear I did gps check her speedo and found out it was actually 4 mph slow = DEFINITELY GOOD TO KNOW WHEN RIDING THAT TICKET PRINTING MACHINE!!!!!
  15. Got that right Daws!!! Prayers Up!!! Wish I could have made it down there for DanL's funeral but it just wasn't meant to be.. Out of respect/love for my brother, I am going to do the only other thing I can think of and hold my own personal moment of silence for my friend,, I plan on purposely logging off here from 1pm until 2pm and shutting off the computer.. May sound nuts but if I had my finger on that big internet switch thingy I would shut the whole thing down world wide for that time period (if DanL' was here, he'd smile at cha and say "yea, Puc would actually do that) cause my friend was that special.. Yep,,,, Prayers Up
  16. If ya looked in a Websters under the question of why I always encourage viewers of my goofy YouTube fixit clips to join us here at VR you would find a link to your post above as the answer.. VERY WELL DONE DUEY!!!!
  17. I 100% totally agree with ya Cruise,, when it comes to singing the muscle bike song, nothing on God's green earth carries the tune like the VMax (start at 2:20 to hear Crud doing his part).. While far from being part of his little brother Maggie's R1 litre bike world, those little 1200cc V-boosted V-4 Max's mopped the floor with everything the competition could toss at em (from Magna's to modern V-Rods) and are still Benchmark in both size 1st and 2nd Gen size brackets..
  18. Don't worry none about it my Texas Hero,,, I got enough etiquette to keep us both out of harms way... Besides,, after some of the incorrect comments being made above about who really is the Huggin Master and all that stuff,,,,, I am thinking of holding free on site etiquette and code interpretation classes during the rally that you may find informative and/or entertaining..

  21. Indeed oh sweet brother of mine, Sir DragonSlayer you did.. DO NOT,, under any circumstances or any condition enter any form of hugging contest with those purdy VR ladies.. Doing so is futile as there is only one Master of Huggitry (aka Puc) and there is no sense in suffering the shame and sheer disappointment of defeat therein.. Now that about covers it..
  22. Obviously,, it would be in your best interest to review the following wholesome and solemn advice:
  23. There ya go Gary,,, get right into it and go right after it!!! Hopefully you are going to be doing your testing with a passenger onboard and hopefully that passenger has some experience on riding two up = THAT would be awesome,,, icing on the cake so to speak.. Another simple thing that I would suggest is to bring along one of those infra red themometers and take temperature readings of both the bikes heat on items that are near the rider/passenger legs/feet as well as the rider/passenger legs/feet while sitting in one of those traffic back up situations that anyone who attempts a real deal tour is going to encounter.. IMHO,,, putting some real scientific proof by quantifying things would really add to reducing the subjectivity of this debate.. Either way though,, I personally look forward to the report of your encounter.. By the way,, have you ridden the new Wing? I have not but I have heard that Mom Honda positioned the rads on it to actually remove the engine heat and blow it out into the air flow outside of the cockpit.. I have read where riders have stuck their hands outside and into that air foil and they could clearly feel a 2 or 3 inch jet stream (my words) of hot air flowing past them.. Any idea if this is true?
  24. IMHO, I think you pose an often overlooked and very important question here 40. These lop eared MD going varmints are always messin with new riders to MD's minds and I strongly suggest you follow the advice of he who is great and powerful and show in the vid below.. Concerning the real answer to your question: It is customary to bring gifts,,, and very valuable gifts, to give to whoever has the most stickers on their motorcycle. Said gifts in the past have been mundane things like gift ear aches from having to listen to certain members doing this and other more casual gifts like the gift of sleeplessness given by those who snore loudly.. In reading your screen name = Love my 40,,,, I cant help but wonder if that "40" doesnt stand for .40 caliber,,, as in .40 caliber Smith and Wesson.. If this is so,,, I personally would see nothing wrong with sharing that love with the person at MD who shows up on the most stickered covered bike by presenting them with a new handgun chambered in .40 Smith.. I think this would make a great way to celebrate your first MD..
