  5. Imagine what it would cost to buy a new truck that gets even if it did 10 more miles per gallon and the cost of insurance and plates . now really look at the better gas mile truck apples to apples and be glad you are driving a truck that cost so little per mile . People get hung up on gas mileage but not what it totally cost to run it down the road. How much gas can you buy with a $350.00 truck payment per month will you save that with a higher gas mile vehicle ? I drive a 3/4 ton 1989 suburban gets 11 per mile paid for I can work on everything no fancy diagnostic computers and when I pass anew 60000 new that gets 19 mpg I laugh all the way to the bank. Do regular repairs and put 200 a month away till you have to replace it my opion:stickinouttounge:
  6. :301:I had bought a fuse conversion kit from Sky Doc awhile back and was going to install one the 83 I am restoring. Well I bought another bike to ride while mine is torn down. I have bin riding it and kept having electrical gremlins. Installed his kit easy to do very good instructions and a piece of cake. Thanks Sky Doc for the Painless conversion .

  13. Just want to thank all who responded to my post yesterday used 3 c-clamps and in less than 15 minutes had it changed. Best 12 dollars any one can spend. THANKS:stickinouttounge:
  14. Had not installed them yet in the picture I posted. Picked some up at local Farm supply store in trailer section. also installed original bags and trunk . I can remove and go back to two wheels by removing 6 bolts and 3 wire connectors. I have about $700 into it has enabled my wife to ride until recently when she hurt her neck. Thanks for the advise.
  15. I have a 1981 Goldwing that the valve stem broke on rear wheel can I break the bead on the rear rim and replace it with out taking wheel off. If so how I seen where Puc said something about using c-clamps . Do you put pieces of wood to protect the tire? I think I included pictures of my stable. Blond 83 Venture Royal, Blue 83 Venture, and the 81 Goldwing I made my own Voyager kit for the wife.
  16. Was stored in a garage on a trailer for last ten years drove it on trailer to move. Never took it off after moved , seems like he really cared for it when he had it not all tore up even has radio bezel for fairing .

  18. Yes it looks like the one pictured I would like to keep in my stable I already have a 83 vr and the wife has a82 glowing I traded my body skills for ( made a hatch on a side car so his wife could get in easier). I add a set off wheels so she could ride like a Voyager kit
  19. I just did a labor swap and in turn got this bike has faring and bags . Have not heard much about this bike searched on internet sounds like it was very fast for the time. don't have any idea what it is worth ? Carbs are gummed up and front master cylinder was full of mush. Rebuilding it and got carbs off rebuilding them, just don't want to stick more money than its worth. Will keep if I like it has neat lines I think would make good commuter. Has 49000 miles on it any thoughts?
  20. Looks like you have a permanent smile stuck on your face. It is amazing what things keep us young at heart.

    Old tires

I just picked up anew to me old bike it is a Yamaha 1100 xs. It was stored in a guys garage for the last ten years on a trailer . The tires look like he has about 1000 miles on them plenty of tread left and no signs of cracking or dry rot. My question is to replace or ride with them. I will only use as a local commuter any advise would be appreciated.
  23. Mine are stuck in place bike sat on trailer for ten since the guy moved . On a trailer in the garage for ten years always registered and never started ran great till the day he moved and then sat. What a waste, his loss my gain .
