  1. I read a few posts on here about switching out the 4 carb system with a single carb. I did this on my '83. Absolutely amazing! Now has electric choke and fuel shut-off. Just took a 700 mile road trip. Averaged 45.9 mpg!

  2. Somebody didn't know what they were doing. It was much easier to install without the spring than with it and after all the filter was in place isn't it? The spring holds the filter tight against the engine and if the filter should plug for some reason it will be pushed out of the way so that oil will still be processed through the engine. Looks to me like the previous filters weren't used a whole lot, other than filling a void in the cover. You should be just fine I think.

  3. I look at the safety side of things , being safe on the road is what everyone should be doing .. I have had some close calls but managed to avoid a wreck because I learned to handle a bike at most any speed

  4. I think it's best to quit riding when the time comes, not to try and stretch it out. That way you can enjoy wonderful memories and not be thinking as to why you didn't quit one ride sooner.

  6. I've studied the RSV wiring diagrams till I was almost crosseyed. I had two problems that I had decided were related. First of all, the bike would not start in neutral unless the clutch was pulled it. It should start without the clutch pulled in as long as it's in neutral. The second problem was that the cruise control would not set., Now, I'm not sure if either of these problems were there when I bought the trike or not because I don't remember even using the cruise or trying to start the bike in neutral. I had it in my mind that it was a wiring problem from when the Hannigan. kit was installed because the reverse also uses the neutral switch. I tracked a LOT of wiring trying to figure that out but found no issues with the wiring., I then ordered a new ignition cut off relay. That ended up correcting the issue of the bike not starting in neutral so that was good. Cruise still wouldn't set though. The troubleshooting guiide in the manual leaves a bit to be desired as it doesn't explain the results correctly. At any rate, I finally determined that the cancel switch might be the issue. I ended up taking the switches on the brake lever apart. It appears that somebody pressed the cancel switch to hard and it had got cocked a bit sideways, not even noticeable from the outside, and it wasn'nt making up. Got it reset and put back together and SUCCESS,. Now everything it working like it should. I've spent several hours trying to figure this out. My first problem was assuming that the two issues were related.

  9. Do NOT fill any gas bottle to the top. When it warms, if it can't expand the pressure inside the bottle goes up dramatically and could cause rupture. Leave an air pocket that will compress as the gas expands to keep the pressure lower.

  10. I started to ride off road in 1959 and started to ride the road in 1963 ... I have enjoyed every mile with the only sound was the wind ...Sometimes In a early evening ride I would pull the bike onto the shoulder and turn it off ..I would sit and listen , and sometimes there was no sound at all with only the sound of birds overhead , other times there was some sound in the distance . .I have call it done as I am turning 77 years old and it is a difficult decision .. ..An old injury is coming back to haunt me . To all riders enjoy the ride KEEP IT BETWEEN THE LINES AND THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN ..
