Nighthawk II Posted January 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2012 Where the seat meets the fuel tank feel back about 3 inches under the seat and you will find two 10 mm nuts. remove them and lift the front of the seat and there you have it. Eck Posted January 29, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 29, 2012 Once you get the seat off you can cut two pieces of small rubber hose about 1.5 inches long and just slip them over the threads of the two seat bolts.. The seat isnt going anywhere.. anyway, and this eliminates the frustration of removeing those 10mm nuts everytime you want to take the seat off. You can just pull down on the rubber hosed and wha lah... Another suggestion: You may want to go to an ACE hardware store and see if you can find two 10 mm "wing nuts".. M61A1MECH Posted January 29, 2012 Share #6 Posted January 29, 2012 Eck, the rubber hose idea sounds good, but i would cautionn anyone that is not using a threaded fastener of some type to remember that fact if for any rason you find your self trailing your Venture. Seats that were not properly fastened down have ben known to fly off when on a trailer at highway speeds, when the third nut :whistling:is sitting on the seat that is never a problem. Or install a powerlet in the left panel behind the seat where there is already a (plugged) hole & then just plug your battery maintainer into that. That's what I did. Wont need any tools to remove the seat............. Just some thoughts on the wing nuts, 10mm is the size of the socket needed to remove them not the thread size. Not sure what it is. second IF you use wing nuts that are not nylon locking (if there is such an animal) I'd still use the rubber hose with the wing nuts to keep them from vibrating loose and falling off. steamer Posted January 30, 2012 Share #11 Posted January 30, 2012 I use 1/4-20 Nylon wing nuts I picked up at lowes for around $.50. Just cross thread them on the metric stud.
