Bike trailer plans

Looks good. Thoughts:

* I want the jack stand that swings down and supports the tongue.

* I'm not a fan of the taillight positioning. I fear they would scrape on the ground. I sometimes scrape the license plate on mine, which is about as low as these. This may or may not happen while I am manually moving the trailer because stooping hurts my back (theoretically).

Otherwise, it seems very similar to the Harbor Freight trailer, and about the same price.

Harbour freight unit has 55mph max towing speed!!!!!!

Can that really be true?

Price is "Plus shipping" with a $90 "additional" frieght charge.

I wonder if Princess auto has something like this in Canada?

Run over to PPV I think it is there close to you; The big RV place on the freeway. Get an Atwood Leveling jack stand, They used to be about 20- 25 bucks. :confused24:

I was at Harbor Freight last year

I was told if you order from the store and pick up at the store

No Freight charge..

You may want to look into that option....

55 mph some say 45 mph they need to cover their ass some how

My harbor freight trailer I always pulled around 70 mph

When I inquired about this, they told me this service was discontinued. And that $90 freight charge turned into $103 for me.

Harbor Freight has the Tag-Along Trailer for $329.99.

I put it in the shopping cart and calculated shipping and tax and it only added tax....

Total price in Virginia is $346.49

HOWEVER in the fine print it does say:

■Overweight Item subject to $89.95 additional Freight Charge

But if you can get it without the shipping charge it would be a nice deal.....

UPDATE: I called a local HF store and they are not charging the shipping if you pick it up... I have a friend who rides a H-D that has been looking at them.... I'll call him and have him buy it, and I'll borrow it when I need it ;)

I might buy one and walk in with a 20% off coupon to see if I can get it at a better price......

I called the Harbor Freight store in Watertown N.Y. (closest to Kingston, ON)

they told me $329 is the price

I asked if any extra shipping charges would apply and they said $329 is the price I pay...

OK....so I would have to pay $329 plus NY sales tax....plus the 13% HST on licencing.

the border tells me that to licence it in Ontario, I would have to pay $230 for paperwork to the customs on "behalf of the ministry of transportation"

Then I have to pay for a safety check to ensure it is safe to licence in Canada. ($45)

and of course...the cost of the actual licence ($25 I think)

So all told, a $329 trailer is going to cost over $600!!!!

Building one is looking better and better!
