TRnCO Posted May 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2009 Mines got it too, but mine still has black paint on it. Looks like a factory reinforced frame weld to me.
SilvrT Posted May 14, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 14, 2009 Doesn't look "factory" to me...but, I could be wrong. I thought I was "mistaken" once before but I was wrong about that.
eagleeye Posted May 14, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2009 If that's a factory weld, I'd be shocked as hell.---but what do I know? Steve

GeorgeS Posted May 14, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 14, 2009 I thought the crack point was on the Cross member, between the Two vertical members, just a little aft, of the point shown in the photo's. I think you actually have to pull out the Canister, to get a good view of the place where the cracks develop.
6m459 Posted May 15, 2009 Share #8 Posted May 15, 2009 My blue bike's frame is dirtier, but looks the same as your picuters other wise. I don't have access to my red bike just now but I think its factory issue. Hope this helps, Brian H.
Dano Posted May 15, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2009 That's a factory installed brace, goes under the frame for extra support. Dan
RedRocket Posted May 15, 2009 Share #10 Posted May 15, 2009 My 88 looks the same, except that it's still painted.
