  1. Today
  2. Good evening to all. Simply relaxing on a Friday night. Just got done watching a nice series of Tough Rides for 3 Episodes involving 2 brothers that circumnavigate China, India and Brazil on motorcycles. It was fun watching all three episodes and it was never boring from beginning to end. Because of the show on Prime, I started checking out the BMW 1250GS Adventure bike and I wish to get some time to check out the bike in person at a dealership near me.
  3. OK. I drained and ran new DOT synthetic fluid today. Still can not get full pedal. Rode the bike and it will not slide tire on dirt road. Looks like there is still air coming out while using the vacuum pump. Why is that? Is there a trick to bleeding to get air out. As I said every time I change a tire off, my brake pedal got softer. Does the rear brake pedal operate just the rear or is it like a goldwing, front and back?
  4. Yesterday
  5. What does that entail?
  6. Brake fluid is hydroscopic, meaning it has a affinity to absorb moisture, water although considered to be an incompressible fluid, often has dissolved air in it, that dissolved air is compressible. Just as a note, Honda recommends the entire brake hydraulic brake systems on the Goldwings be flushed and replaced with new fluid, every two years, that system is a bit more complex that that on a Venture, but replacing your brake fluid at some regular interval be it time or miles, is a good thing to do. Again Speedbleeders make that job way easier to do, just pump the old fluid out into one of their catch bags using the lever or pedal depending on front or rear brakes, refill the master cylinder before it is empty and your done in no time.
  7. Sounds like an intake leak.
  8. I have not done a complete fluid change. Never have done one, but maybe that is the time. With my vacuum pump, I never could get a complete stream of fluid. Never had fluid go bad. Thank you.
  9. Lisa and I made it Thursday evening. Here now with Rosemary and Dave, Tina and Ron. I-75 was a nightmare coming down...will go back via 77.
  10. Have you flushed out the brake fluid to ensure there is no old contaminated fluid in the system? Have you inspected or rebuilt the rear master cylinder? Try getting a speed bleeder for the rear bleeder port, those work great make bleeding a breeze. I would also consider going back to OEM rotor, you can check the specs on the rotor thickness requirements in the service manual found in the tech section here on the forum. Well I see Freebird beat me to it as I was typing.
  11. I’m not sure. Certainly sounds like the new rotor is too thin but could also be other things. You said you bled the brakes but how long since a complete fluid change? At those miles, I would hope that has been done. Other than that, which is the first thing I would try, it could be your master cylinder
  12. I have a 2002 RVS, with 135k and my rear brakes are soft and will not slide rear tire. I put new rotary on rear app 40k miles ago when I put on new tire, and they were a little soft but would slide wheel if I tried. About 16k miles ago I put on new rear tire and when I got it back together they, I bled the brakes, but they were a little softer than the last time, but I could still slide rear if I tried. I just put on another rear tire. This time I use a 1 man vacuum bleeder and still pump brake to bleed them the best I can. When rode today I could not get the rear brakes to slide the tire. It has stopping power but very soft. Now the rotor that I put on was an after-market. I notice my old OEM rotor was app 7mm thick and was worn down to 4mm. The new after-market rotor was only 4mm thick brand new. Do you think this is my problem. Any help and advice will be appreciated. thank you
  13. You go, Mrs. Steve! I’m looking forward to the day when Mrs. Pastor Curt tells me that same thing!😃😃😃
  14. Last week
  15. Everything happens for a reason. Make it happen. Ride safe.
  16. My wife and I came down the Blairsville GA for the Vogal Venture Rally. I rode my Venture and she rode the Spyder. She has only had a license to ride for a week and did some riding around our home area. On the way to Blairsville, her FIRST trip on it, she told me I was to keep myself OFF of it. If I wanted a trike, I could go buy another one!!!!! Sooooooo, I guess I will be looking for another trike if I feel I must have one. BUT, I am very comfortable riding the Venture alone, so it may be a while before I buy anything else. 😁
  17. Patricia and I made it down. Several people down and dodging the random rain storms.
  18. I don't know personally. I have seen reports online of people getting flats with their run flat and not noticing at 40 MPH. There's a Facebook group I'm in for Dark siding that's pretty good. guys are helpful and no drama. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Y3X5dNi16/
  19. Getting ready to head out now.
  20. I am looking for a 156x80x15 run flat for my 2002 RSV. If anybody knows of one please let me know. thank you
  21. I run 165x80x15 on my 2002 RSV, and get 25k. love it
  22. I got 16k on my 1st nexen, 165x80x15. Was impressed with it. I put 10k on it in 2 trips and 23 states, rode dragon tail and mounts 1000s of miles. Love the way it handles. Had flat and will have to change because side wll damage fron a nail.
  23. I love my 98 RSTD, but the issues continue. The bike idles great with the choke in, when warmed up it idles great...until it gets heated up. Once I've ridden for about half an hour or so, when I gear down the idle goes wild, revving very high. I have turned down the idle screw but to no avail. While riding it sounds great. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  24. I run tires in the 70 to 90 dollar range and am satified.
  25. How will the G-force hold up if you have a flat???? Will it stand without air till you can get it fixed??? Have you let air out while standing to see if it holds up.
  26. I got 40k on a front shinko. great tire
  27. I have worn dunlaps out at 4500 miles and regulat bike tires out around 8 to 10k. I got 40k out of a shinko on my front, took it off because started to get a little wobble in handle bars, still had good tread. Put on another shinko, great tire in my opnion.
  28. I have been lookking for a run flat for my 2002 RSV, size 165x80x15, but can not find one. I would love to try one if I can find one.
