  2. Thanks for the tips. Have lots to do on this bike. Probably the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. Bells and whistles all over the place. It even has built in air cushions plus an auto level feature. I will keep troubleshooting. Has to be the carbs but … who knows.

  5. Congrats on your 'new to you' bike. I really didn't know that Suzuki actually made touring bikes in the past. I think the more you ride the bike, the better it will run. As you have stated, plugs are on the way and that is a good start to start and hoping the bike will gradually improve over time. I am not so familiar on the Suzuki, but basic maintenance of the bike is where I would start.

  8. I still have my venture with its single carb and she still rides amazing! I did just trade an old bike for a 1986 Suzuki cavalcade 1400 and its engine looks very similar to my venture. have an issue I’m hoping someone could figure out. It has its original 4 carbs and the bike runs but…. It is popping back from the carbs at low idle with slight hesitation. some have suggested a lean condition. I put in a new fuel filter and have new plugs on the way. the bike did sit for a few years but the fuel tank was clean . at higher speeds the bike runs amazingly well but just have this low rpm missing/ hissing pop sound coming from the carbs , which is intermittent. thoughts??

  17. The shift shaft has a knuckle that leads to the straight shaft going back to the cross over shaft at the back of the setup. That knuckle will want to find it's home in the downward position,,, don't let it, it goes in the up position. Things won't line up or work properly unless you do, and you might even discover some markings there as well. Hope that all makes sense.

  20. i've been threw the clutch n plates, have figured out that the clutch plates are ok, did the barnet clutch change a long time ago.... need heavier clutch springs. anyone know what the part number is for heavier barnett clutch springs? . . .0 .0 .0 .0 .0

  22. I'm suprised no one has responded to you. As for the alignment, most folks install these parts about last on the list. As per the illustrations in the manuals, this would be a good place to start. Remember to keep the arms 90 degrees from the direction of thrust. Well, as best you can. The final adjustment will have to do with how your foot engages the shift lever, where your foot is on the foot peg and so forth. I have an "83 myself. Welcome to the fold here.

  24. Some red and yellow on doppler. I agree you must wait. I've been riding for the last 4 days. Time to take the truck to and from work and run errands for we expect 3 days of rain as long as mother nature will give us 3 great days this coming weekend. Holiday is just around the corner.

  27. Hello, All! I'm new here, but not new to riding or turning wrenches on bikes. For years, I owned and operated Jackhammer Cycles, LLC in Myrtle Beach SC. I know my way around motorcycles pretty good, so for me to ask a question like the one I'm about to ask is fairly unusual for me. But here goes: I have just finished reinstalling the shifter and foot rest on my 83. But I can't get the alignment correct, as there are NO marks on the shafts. Does anyone have an idea of how to set an initial alignment of these? I have been through the manuals and they are not any help at all. I bought my 83 2 years ago, and it came with a story, as it was a basket case. (Engine was removed to replace the stator, never replaced but a new stator was included.) But for $200, I was hard pressed to not buy it.
  28. Too many options and arguments for each. Park in or out of gear, kill switch vs kickstand vs ignition, which oil, which filter, which tires, blah blah blah.😁😁😁🤪🤪 Why you talking trailers, you’re bike broke?😛 I just need to find the time to ride more.
  29. Atta boy Ronnie, but this may turn into a discussion. recently I hear people talk about parking their bikes in gear and also when they haul them do they prefer in gear or neutral. I always park in gear except in my shop I park in neutral because sometimes I will roll the bike to get something from behind it and I always haul the bike in gear, if the straps are right it shouldn't matter but if a strap fails the bike is not rolling all over the trailer.
