  1. Past hour
  2. This'll be my last full Winter as a werkin' man. Took my RSV to "MY Guy" for carb work yesterday and I definitley felt Fall in the air. I guess I'm not a real Venturerider, "cause 35 is a bit chill for riding. I do get the folks that like to ride in cooler weather, but I don't get those who ride with snow / ice on the road...
  3. Today
  4. Believe me. I get it.
  5. What kind of nut are you? We of the Venture riding persuasion laugh at 35°!!! It’s still summer! It has to be since I haven’t gotten enough riding in yet! That makes sense, right?🥶🥶🥶
  6. Hate to say. it but winter is quickly arriving here in NE Ohio. It was 35 this morning. Still supposed to get to 70 later today so riding is not over but I can feel it coming.
  7. Yesterday
  8. Congrats on your trip and I'm happy you made it home safely. That is also on my bucket list as well, to hit the lower 48 states. Good on your wife to take the plunge and do the ride herself! You two sound like quite the couple!
  9. Starting to feel that chill here, getting down into the mid 40s in the mornings. I wont be riding the bike for a few days. They are doing some repairs to our apartment building's parking lot, so I wont be able to access the garage.
  10. Last week
  11. Hello Venture friends. We made it back home to Western Kentucky this afternoon 13 days after we left heading for Maine to finish the lower 48. The 8 states that I needed to ride in were, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hamshire, Maine and Vermont. It was a wonderful trip with some beautiful scenery. We only had rain on 2 days, and they were both when we got into Eastern Kentucky. The 2 days were the day we left, and the second was the day before as we got home. On both days, as soon as we got into Eastern KY, the bottom dropped out. 🤷‍♂️ We met so many nice people that went out of their way to help us make our trip so enjoyable. Since it is very hard to take pictures while riding, we don't have any pictures to post. The most amazing part of this trip is the fact I have ridden in every state of the lower 48, on a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. It has been on 2 different Ventures, a 2004 and 2010, with a 10-year gap in any riding, but I still feel it was quite an accomplishment to achieve. And I must praise my wife, Patricia. She had never done any riding, even as a passenger, before I bought this 2010 Venture in 21. Not only has she ridden several thousand miles on the back of a Venture, but she did this 3000-mile trip on her Can Am Spyder after getting her license only a month ago. The saddest part of this is that I feel I have gotten too old to handle the weight of a Venture and plan on getting a Goldwing Trike next spring. I want to make more trips out west, but our safety is the most important factor in that decision.
  12. You are right. This site was not down at all. It was a browser issue on my home computer that simply needed a to closed and reopened. Sounds like you and your fellow riders had a great time despite the crosswinds and 460 miles is truly satisfying to most riders including myself. Rode today and tomorrow will be a little chilly... must gear up appropriately. Ride safe.
  13. I checked yesterday and didn't have any trouble I don't believe. Seems like a good morning for some coffee and a car drive. We did get our ride in Sunday, but it was only 460 miles and it was in 40mph crosswinds pretty much the whole way. Needless to say, we were beat when we got home!
  14. Good evening to all. Glad to be able to access venturerider tonight. I could not login last night and this morning, but looks like everything is back up and running. Rain in the forecast. Ride tomorrow instead.

  15. Drive Weather. It will give temperature, rain / snow, wind, fog... and you can set your departure time and as you adjust it - it will change the weather along your route. If you add a stop - it will adjust your forecast. Free version only lets you plan a couple days in advance. Paid version lets you plan a couple weeks in advance.
  16. I use Weather Underground and search on various cities on my route. It shows results 10 days out
  17. Yea been there and looked at most of those. Also a facebook post about one. I used weather channel web site for a long time. You could put in your date if it was say 3-5 days away and it would tell you what you could expect temp and rain wise. But sadly it went away years ago. I dont do enough long distance trips in a year to warrant paying for one
  18. Haven’t tried any of them but here’s some good info. https://www.vikingbags.com/blogs/news/the-10-best-motorcycle-weather-apps-of-2022-for-conventional-riders

  20. Been looking for 3 days now trying to find a free weather app that I can put in poin A to B and get a guess on what might run into along the way. I have raindar, AccuWeather. I load a couple that said free but other than a radar overlay you have to buy.
  21. Happy Friday to you too. TGIF! It has been a long work week since I was called in last weekend. I am crossing my fingers that I don't get called in tomorrow or Sunday. I have lots of things to do around the house.
  22. Good morning everybody. Happy Friday!
  23. It looks like beautiful country out there! Let us know a date and I'll see if I can make it!
  24. usually first weekend in june. june 5, 6 , n 7th this next year! this year i couldn't ride because i laid the bike down on may 24th really easy. i had no road rash n the bike was all cosmetic. bike is fixed n am rid,n again. but the laydown produced a health issue that i'm addressing now. showed up in the ct scan that i had a swollen lymphnode in my stomach area n turned out to be cancerous. go'n threw chemo treatments now and it is go'n very well so far. i'm on my second round of treatment and can still ride some days. so ya, anything after the first weekend in june would be good for me. i've rid'n that area some n it was my kind of road's but don't change the date on my account, i'm not that important.
  25. That sounds a lot of fun! Enjoy the ride and I wish all of you good Fall weather.
  26. We are near Viroqua, Western part. The area is called the driftless region.
  27. Good morning. Planning a 500 mile ride this Sunday. We're planning on having the kiddo dropped off at my sister's and on the road by 7am. We'll leave Omaha and take Highway 75 up to Sioux City, then Highway 20 west to Highway 12. That'll take you north and west past Ponca (cool native history there). We'll stay on Highway 12 across the river hills until we hit Highway 81 and go north. Then we'll get to the south side of Yankton and cross Gavin's Point Dam. From there we'll take Highway 52 into highway 50 west across the South Dakota plain until we reach the west side of Wagner, South Dakota. We'll continue west and have lunch at Radar Hill, which is where the Fort Randall Casino is. It used to be called Radar Hill because there was an old Army radar station set up there. We'll continue west into Pickstown and cross the Fort Randall Dam and continue west on Highway 18 until we reach Highway 281 and travel south til highway 12. We'll then take highway 12 to highway 81 and take that south to highway 275 and head home! I'm really looking forward to it!
  28. Whats the general area you're in? I've never been to a Venturerider event, so after being on the site for like 10+ years I think I may like to finally go to one!
